New FlightScope Mevo+ (MERGED)

There really has to be something wrong with my indoor setup. And it’s killing my swing I believe.

No matter what I do i always have an out to in swing indoors. I got my unit back and same thing. I go outside and hit balls into the woods and I have straight / draw shots. So I took my mevo outside and behind my old net. Sure enough every swing I had was in to out at minimum 3 degrees. No slices. I also noticed my aoa outdoors was showing at around -3 with my 7 iron and indoors upwards of +3/4. Makes no sense.

I have no fans in my garage. Plenty of led lighting. (Lumens shows fine for face impact / fusion mode). Only thing I can think of is metal racks and my cars?

i also noticed my impact location on my driver is extremely off. Really am tempted to move to something like a uneekor

anyone else ever seen this?

Did you update your apps and firmware.

They did a recent firmware update and apps update.

my Launch was terrible.  But once Update the firmware and also "realigned" my unit, Everything is back to normal.

I use E6 a lot, and went to the FS2.0 app and noticed my tilt crept down to 11*.

Put it back to 12* and all things seem normal again. Distances etc....

random $0.02.......

I actually did some more setup in FS app and then went to e6 rather than GSPRO. For whatever reason e6 seemed to be working way better last night. Much more accurate than what I was experiencing before. Ill do some digging today and see if there are any updates. I believe I just did a firmware update so unless it got wiped or an old one on the fixed mevo I think it should be up to date.

Yeah. I hate when companies add features that nobody really asked for like that. But meanwhile they can't even get basic functionality working.. It's like developers are working on wrong things..

ie. for me, I'm just wanting the damn ability to sort data columns. Not just simple numbers either. I want to sort Club paths too. Shouldn't be that hard to sort a number with a R/L.. it's basically a +/- number.. Just sort them already...

Have been slogging through about a year's worth of this thread so far. Glad I didn't have to go through all the "updates". 🙂 Have had the M+PP for less than a month and it has done precisely what I had hoped it would do for me as far as helping me understand why my "misses" do what they do. From there, I'm having pretty dern good success coming up with trial and error fixes and "feels" that work. Looks like an awful lot of what I had done via video and YT "lessons" was of far less value than I had presumed.  A major plus is that my wife is now also addicted to the gadget. 🙂

We had also been frustrated by the fact that it has "R and L" rather than "+ and -" in the cells as other brands apparently use, making sorting "impossible".  My wife attempted to modify those columns' cells after copying the "Cloud" data to Excel, but concluded that she couldn't pull it off. We inquired with "support" about a way to make the conversion and he came back with the report that it is impossible.

However, the wifey is part bulldog and loves puzzles. She is now in the process of at least converting the "Path" and "FTT" columns to "+ and -".  She showed me all the convolutions through which she's tortured the spreadsheets.  It involves six additional columns for each modified column, but the results show up cleanly in a separate "sheet".  She ain't right.  But, it looks like she's getting the finishing touches put on the project.  Maybe when she gets back from Zumba this morning. . .

Should be doable by writing a macro.  LOL I used to do a lot of that...

Cool! The idea would be to strip out the R's and L's and replace the L's with a negative sign.   Here's some data available. 🙂 club data available.ods

Okay I wrote a simple macro that seems to work.  I have attached the file.  Not sure if wrx software will let a macro file through though.  To use it you will have to have excel installed on your machine.

Here is the code:

Sub Convert_R_L()
'
' Convert numbers ending with R or L to plus or minus respectively starting at upper left row and col
'

Dim row As Integer, col As Integer, myLen As Integer, chrPos As Integer, myString As String, myChar As String, myVal As String
'

'Loop through the data to find cells to convert
For col = 1 To 256
    row = 2
    If Cells(1, col) = "" Then Exit For 'done with the data
    Do 'loop through the rows
        myString = Trim(Cells(row, col))
        myLen = Len(myString)

        'determine what to do with the contents

        If myString = "" Then Exit Do 'we are done this column
        Cells(row, col) = myString 'trimmed value into the cell in case there were spaces
        myChar = Mid(myString, myLen, 1)
        If myChar = "L" Or myChar = "R" Then ' fix the cell
            myVal = Trim(Mid(myString, 1, myLen - 1))
            If myChar = "L" Then myVal = "-" + myVal
            Cells(row, col) = myVal 'set the cell to the changed value

        End If
        row = row + 1
        DoEvents
    Loop
    DoEvents
Next col

End Sub

Turns out that I just don't know how to deal with running a macro on it. She took a quick peek at my Open Office macro options but didn't try very hard to help. Fear that the elegance of your solution might be weighing on her motivation to help. 🙂  Her solution *does* also work, though. 🙂

The fact they say it's impossible is pure lazinesss. if they keep the internal data in raw form (+/-) instead of a human form (L/R) then they could easily sort it.

I'm ok with L/R but I don't that excuse.

But the software is much better than it used to be at least.. (PC one is all I care about now) Mind you FSGolf PC crashes a lot on my otherwise super stable gaming machine but at least it allows resumption on restart so I'll give them that.

It's cool your wife uses it too... I've started unsubscribing from more and more youtube crap channels and focusing on mirror/video/real metrics.. I especially like the Vplane as it captures my faulty downswing steepness (elbow getting stuck behind my body)... Love my Mevo+..

Now if the stupid USD could get down i could get Face impact to complement my toolset.

Cheers,

Cheers,

That my wife uses it, too, is *really* cool. And, she "gets it".  We're having lots of fun with it and are *both* improving because of it.

Sounds like we've been down the same YouTube road. It was fun learning more about the mechanics and physics of the swing, but matching up the "metrics" with the video has told me that my ugly a** EE and less than perfect club path are actually plenty "good enough"!

What *wasn't* good enough was my club face angles.  There's actually, in my experience, very sparse info out there about dealing successfully with that facet of the swing.  Been down numerous rabbit holes since learning of the problem in the three weeks or so since we've had the gadget.  Didn't help that I've had three right wrist bones removed and can't lay that wrist back at all.  So, my "fix" - which finally seems to be close to being nicely refined - likely wouldn't work for others.  Paddy Harrington ended up being most helpful, though this video helped a bunch with pointing me in the right directions for experimentation.

Paddy just said to alternate extremely closing the face coming down with extremely opening the face coming down to get the right "feel".  That helped, but pulling out my leftover "CHAMPKEY" replacement grip and doing the same showed me which moved caused that Champkey logo to remain on top at the bottom. Magic!  Would *never* have gotten here without the path and face data guiding me to their relative importance levels. Guess face is nearly 6 times as important as path. Rather handy to know, eh??

That does away with about fifteen swing thoughts. 🙂  A mighty wide range of R and L "paths" turn out to be perfectly acceptable now if I can keep my FTT's under 2.0.

The wifey *did* give me a bit of a stern look a few minutes ago when I pointed out the FS "sale" email that came today. Face package for $399 - a hundred bucks off. . . 🙂

Never mind...

Aha! The email notification I got had at least the "first part" of your original post. 🙂 Otherwise, the curiosity woulda killed this cat. 🙂

I've seen pics posted showing that that the impact position can be affected merely by the shapes of club faces being a bit different from that of the gadget's "picture of a club face".

This motivated me to pull the foot powder spray out, again. Like my swing path, turns out that it is mostly "good enough" - especially as compared to my constant toe shots that came with previously trying to maximize my "inside-outness".  3° out to in just *ain't* a problem for me.

Interestingly, Voodoo's mention of the "V Plane" gave me an idea for streamlining a "feel" for my "face squaring" technique. Thanks!

I couldn't remember exactly what parameters were included with the face package so I deleted what I had written LOL.  The impact location feature is fun to play around with but not worth a lot of money imho.

I just reviewed them in the ad for the current "sale".  It offers a "heat map" showing where the strikes are "concentrated", I guess.  I presume that a "scatter-plot" is available, too, but didn't see a pic of one.  The price *does* seem rather bizarre - especially considering that they've already got you for a grand for the prerequisite "Pro Package".  Would love to have been a fly on the wall in the "pricing conference" for it.  I'm picturing a party atmosphere with them going "what if we try *this* on 'em"?! - and all having a big giggle. 🙂

Why not just highlight the column and do a find-replace...super easy.

Highlight column, ctrl-f, find L and replace it with "-".

Highlight column, ctrl-f, find R and replace with "+".

Done.

=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-1)&IF(RIGHT(A1,1)="L","-","+")

That ought to work unless 0.0 pops up sometimes and then has no L or R on it. If that's the case, I think you can do something like this:

=IF(OR(RIGHT(A1,1)="L",RIGHT(A1,1)="R"),LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-1)&IF(RIGHT(A1,1)="L","-","+"),A1)

This is if your cell you want to change is A1. If it's something else just point it at that. Noted that replace works anyway, but I would do it this way. Shouldn't need redoing when you add new data. Just copy it down.

Understood. 😥

Interestingly, seems that no matter "what" I highlight, it changes *all* of the R's and L's in that neat manner - *except* the column headed by "Lateral" - with its capital "L" - which it deletes (its capital L).  However, it also places the "+" and "-" signs *after* the numbers in that "lateral" column - even *after* I changed its "L" to lower case. Weird.  Interestingly, it did *not* use any "+" signs to the left of any of the positive numbers in any of the columns.  I shall attempt to live with it this way. 🙂

Thank you, again!

And, just for some *more* weirdness, I now note that the "L" in my "Launch H°" column is also now missing, but their minus signs are in their appropriate positions, to the left of the numbers. 🙂

Now, to determine what "changes" from the mat to the tee box.  What "feels" are tied to that mat area that float off into the aether once its reference points(?) aren't there.  Strikes me as being most similar to brain damage. . .

In Excel you can click on "View" / "Macros" and run the macro that you wish.  You can also step in and step through the code seeing how it works.  VBA is pretty fun to use and can be learned by playing around with it.  It's not all that complicated if such things interest you.  If it does not interest you then it's not worth the frustration.  LOL I made a career out of hacking code that started with a program that I first re-wrote in Basic to score or our Thursday night golf league and things went on from there and next thing you know I am software engineer.  Well, actually it took four or five years...

We have differing concepts of funness. 🙂 My particular frustration tolerance level approaches baseline.  Did get so far as to learn that VBA is Visual Basic. Remember that the wifey had a book for it around the house. Brought it up and wished I hadn't as she started in about Visual C++ and my eyes glazed over.

*But*, it sounds like you may find *this* to be a fun project - and one I'd *really* get a kick out of seeing and being able to play with - a golf version of this tennis "Shot Maker Tool" https://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/cgi-bin/trajectory_maker.cgi that would yield the nine ball flights from the Path and FTT inputs.  Best I can tell, I might've been the only tennis player to have ever messed with this tennis version, though there were some engineer types on that forum that *really* had an understanding of that stuff.  Sure helped with perfecting my "trick shots", though. 🙂  Have *never* run across anyone to date who has a clue about the inputs needed for producing a topspin lob - about as counterintuitive as some of these golf ball flight patterns.  Wonder if the geeks/nerds at Trackman have already pulled something like this off. . .
