The local golf magazine publishes every private course's listed rates every year and whether they have a waiting list or if they are invitation only. https://coloradoavidgolfer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/PCD2020.pdf

You don't really have that many to select from in Eagle and Summit county so call up and ask for prospective member rounds. Note that even the best mountain courses can have sub par conditions in May and sometimes into June depending upon what the winter was like (a calmer winter is worse than a winter where there is lots of snow due to repeated thawing and freezing cycles and drying winds) and some of them over water to try and get lush green looks instead of focusing on playability. Elk putting hoof marks in greens can also be an issue. Growing and maintaining golf course quality grass at altitude is not easy.

I really like Kelly Huff who owns South Broadway Country Club, been taking lessons with him for a while and I love how he teaches. It's indoors on Trackman, which you may or may not like so that could be part of it. He's also getting crazy booked up like a month out at least, so if you're in a rush to get in it may be difficult.

Dan Sniffin teaches out at Omni and, while I haven't taken lessons from him, I have a couple buddies who have and they have nothing but good things to say.

If you're a Malaska disciple, Brian Gott out at GVR is certified and teaches there (in addition to his club fitting business).

Ouch! We've all had experiences like this. I believe it is the Golf Gods way of keeping us humble or getting us to a point of extreme aggravation. I haven't figured out which? Hang in there!

Correct! What was funny was that I tried similar putts on other greens on the next few holes (same or even steeper slopes). 50% of the time, the ball would just stick at the apex.

Ok, I have come to the conclusion that while Footjoy Classic leather soled shoes look great and have a great sense of secure foundation for my feel, they suck to walk 18 holes carrying my bag. I think I need to look for a more comfortable pair of shoes if I start walking again.

I live in Summit and like the courses here- no real private clubs in Summit although you can get memberships at Keystone and Raven. Most, except Breck, offer season pass options. Shorter season than Eagle, especially this year...normally Raven is first to open, sometimes even in April with Keystone following mid-May, but Breck was first opening yesterday (18 of 27 with 5 temps). Breck has the best Men's Club (Wednesdays) and Raven is the only course that stays open past the first week of October.

Longer golf season in Eagle as courses are at lower elevations than Summit with some truer private club options. I think Eagle Springs and Cordierra may be the only Private Equity options, but not 100% sure.

Played with a member at Eagle Springs about 5 years ago who raved about the club/membership. Not crowded. Good course with greens in great shape, but not as scenic as many mountain courses imo.

Played 1 of 2 Red Sky courses- very nice. Owned by Vail Resorts and offers private memberships. 18 are open to Resort guests each day. Not sure how VR is as a private club operator, but courses are favorite among Vail resort employees with golf pass options.

Sonnenalp is good, owned by Clubcorp.

Haven't played Cordierra...had a lot of courses, but some closed after financial issues.

I'm seriously looking at these. First time order gets another 10% off. My concern would be width.

I mean, I know how far they should go, but it's rarely a 2+2=4 outcome. haha

Last minute family gig in castle pines area. June 23 to July 1. Looking for a general feel. Courses packed with big demand for times or is it more relaxed? Average cost? Just trying to get a feel of the pressure . Bring teenage kids clubs or not. I'll squeeze in 2 to 4 rounds. Also please, anything up in Fraser by winter park I shouldn't miss? May be up there several days.

Yeah Pole Creek is awesome, well worth trying to play all 27 if they are open. I played up there Saturday but we had to play the Ridge twice since it was the only one open. The parts of the other 9s we could see looked in amazing shape though. We also did an afternoon round at Grand Elk, I like that course as well up there.

In general in the Denver area most courses seem packed, although they appear to be easing up a bit and seems a little easier to get tee times so maybe it's leveling out a bit. Who knows. If you are in Castle Pines though definitely would recommend the Ridge at Castle Pines. Plum Creek is down that way and is a Dye course if you like that. Red Hawk Ridge is also a fun track to play. All depends on how long you are willing to drive.

I find most courses are just fine with kids/teens. I take my 7 and 9 year old kids golfing all over and have never had an issue.

Ridge at Castle Pines around $100, Plum Creek $60-70, Red Hawk $80-100.

Or just find someone who is a member at Castle Pines Golf Club and play there

Plum Creek is a dump. I would avoid.

Ridge at Castle Pines is pricey but nice, as is Bear Dance about 20 minutes south of Castle Rock.

Red Hawk Ridge would be a nice course for your teen--not very long and not too difficult. I'm playing there on Sunday.

I drove by Castle Pines Golf Club and Country Club at Castle Pines today, and they're in pristine shape. Pretty bummed that my parents gave up their membership (to CCCP) a few years ago.

Not sure about your teen's abilities, but there is a nice executive course (6 pars 3's, 2 par 4's, and 1 legit par 5) just north of Castle Rock at Family Sports Center, and a decent and cheap par 3 at South Suburban Golf Course.

Ok, My bad its Castle Rock not Pines my bad. But whats a comma and few zeros among friends? I started looking around last night and Hawk had zero open times for the entire month but I'm guessing its because I clicked on non resident. It sure is a departure from Florida golf courses. I have decided not to ship my clubs. Not worth the cost, hassle and risk so Ill just play it by ear, raid the brother in laws basement or rent as I go. Not like my game could tell the difference. My boy will probably be to busy looking for trout streams and ponds to want to play so its not worth bringing his kit either. My daughter is 14, 5'4" and a lefty so she may be hard to get rentals for. I will definitely look around up mountain. Cant wait to hit some of those 200 yard 7 irons like you guys. When my BIL comes here he raids my locker and I organize all the golf. When I go there he organizes the lift tickets and other gear. Time to get to work BOB.

Thanks for the intel.

Sucks about Plum Creek, haven't played there this year but heard conditions may have gotten better there. Was going to check it out but guess I'll pass.

Most courses are not renting clubs that I've seen, so you may have an issue with finding any rentals. If you're willing to drive 30 minutes or so, you open up a whole bunch of great courses. Bear Dance that @pseudoswede mentioned is closer to Castle Rock and is a great course, Murphy Creek is about 30 minutes away, Saddle Rock same. Arrowhead, while not my favorite course, is very scenic and famous course in the area.
I can't imagine Red Hawk had zero times. You may want to call and talk to them. Or you may be looking too far out in time, many courses here only open up tee times a week or two at a time, they don't let you book a month in advance. You won't have an issue getting on Red Hawk.

As @jacobEDGE can attest last night, I didn't 6-putt #5 at South Suburban last night. I only 3-putted...after I put a ball into the lake...for a triple.
Baby steps...

I picked up four BOGO dozen last week from golfballs.com

Amazon had them for $20 each today, no BOGO required. I picked up two more dozen.

I think I'm set for the next 2-3 years.

They are my favorite ball! Durability is better than the ProV for me and don't cut very easily. They also tend to hold a little straighter in the wind for high ball hitters.

I won two CTPs yesterday with my XVs. One dead into the wind. Smoked a 6-iron 150 yards (haha) to 3 feet.

The last few years I flipped around between the TP5x and XV. Would say 70% - 30% average with using the TP5x more. About a month ago I found a new Tour Bx on the course and decided to play to see and.... it is excellent. I was not a fan of the last model at all but the new '20 one is impressive.

Krush did you already hit up Prairie Club? If so how was it? A friend was just there with 20 players and he said the bugs are out but more so he said the ticks in full force??? Wondering if he was mistaken on that.... We are up there at the end of the month.
