My family had a intervention with me tonight

They are concerned about the time I am spending on here and in the garage swinging clubs etc. She is irate that I spent that money on those clubs and gave them away, she is really mad at me. TBH I am too.

I still have my original clubs but I am considering giving them away or selling them....

I thought this game was fun but it turns out to be more of a money grab than anything else to be honest. It reminds me of POLO or some other high society activity. I'm going to return to beach walking and beer drinking. And getting back into my career field, data, databases etc...

I embarked on a journey to improve but I was just met with sadness and depression. Lies and promises, the blind leading the blind.

It's really just a scam at the end of the day. Either you are good at it or you aren't that's the nasty little lie they all like to keep suppressed.

Most people are liars on here. They claim to be this but they are that... This is a distorted version of reality. Dozens of singles line up to give advice but in my 20+ years of playing I don't see any of you. You dont exist you lie.

Farewell.

I'm just sick and tired off all these youtube videos claiming this and that.... DNA plays a huge factor in how good you can be. FACT

My friends dads played PG at Murray State. He picked up golf at 45 and is a wonderful golfer. DNA.

I don't agree. You can get a decent set of clubs at a good price...where it gets expensive if one engages in a lot of "experimenting", i.e., buying and selling. For some, that is their hobby, which is fine (there are a lot worse things one can engage in). In addition to getting a decent set of used clubs at a good price, there are plenty of golf courses out there that are more than affordable.

Sure, this game can be frustrating, but it's the greatest game on earth. There is a lot more to it than chasing a little white ball around, and/or buying and selling golf equipment.

Maybe come back to it after you can approach it a bit more, dare I say, rationally?

Golf is hard. There is no end...golf is a journey, not a destination. That journey sometimes takes place on a super highway, and at other times over narrow, rock strewn paths over rough terrain. The point is to embrace the journey, and not worry about the destination. We aren't defined by how well we play, how poorly we play, how far we hit the ball, or what our handicap index is.

In any case, good luck to you wherever your journey takes you.

I have a friend who has been playing for 3 years, is a 3HI, with a ball speed of 185 mph. Those people are very rare in this game. The average golfer struggles to break 100, and can't hit a 230 yard drive. That is the reality of the game. Can you get better? Sure, but even hard work will only take you so far. One thing you can do is develop a good short game. You don't have to be young or athletic to do so. And, another is while you continue to work hard at the game, accept what the game gives you. Because that is all you can do. "Raging against the machine" is not only useless, but counter productive.

I have to disagree Sean. He's started two bizarre threads where he posts in circles with few that make any sense but to irritate. Then he asks the mods to lock them. He starts a third with a rant about everybody being liars and two minutes later he's getting talked "off the ledge" by a "friend". He's either a troll or bipolar. If he's bipolar I hope he gets help. If he's a troll I hope he goes away. Well, actually since I have him on ignore he did go away at least in my world.

Well, being bipolar myself, I am not sure that is it.

According to Wikipedia a troll is defined as:

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion, whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.

So based on that definition, I don't think he is a troll either. I think he is a bit misguided, and did the "ready, aim, fire" thing when it came to getting into the game of golf. Yes, he has said some questionable things, but I think that comes from frustration and feeling a bit foolish over those irons he first purchased. He was excited and we kinda burst his bubble. No one likes to feel that way.

In any case, I am giving the lad the benefit of the doubt, but I can see how others think differently.

You may be right Sean. I can't see anything he posts anymore so I'm good with that.

I have to apologize to you. I was clicking on the Flag thing to see you reported you for Abuse(I'm guessing it's Paddy) and seem to have given you an additional one. Purely accidental as I agree with you that he's a troll.
