Our local tours in Georgia are still on. Hopefully they want cancel got to have something to do.

In all seriousness we must take personal responsibility if you are sick don't go out are be around people. If you are immune compromised please be careful about where you go and who you go around.

We are definitely getting plenty of practice in this coming week.

Social distancing is key

The main concern is hospitals and health services becoming overwhelmed by a mass outbreak; there aren’t enough beds and respirators in a crisis infection scenario like other countries have seen

That would put everyone (not just elderly and pre-disposed) at risk

Good (long) article on it:https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca

Local junior tour cancelled all events until April 18. Schools around us are closing. Schools in our county are still open but I suspect they will change their mind soon. The wife works at a middle school and they were told to start planning to hold classes for a month away from school.

Like everyone else it seems as if every tournament is now cancelled for everyone. With the exception of AJGA events for some unknown reason.

My assumption is no tournaments until May 1st which is really not good. My kids are really upset over this and I noticed a real issue with stress in them. Luckily we can play golf for now but honestly the focus is more on using golf as a way to relax then practice right now.

Economically this going to be a big blow to junior golf and it’s hard to predict how things are going to change.

US Kids Just sent an email postponing Jekyll Island Regional until 9/12-13. No suprise, however they are keeping kids in same age group as they are now, which I cannot figure out why. Text from email RE age groups below. What am I missing?AGE GROUPS

The event's original age cut-off (February 29, 2020) will remain in effect. Your player(s) will compete in the same age group. All new registrations will follow the same age cut-off date.

AJGA just posted on their website

March 16, 2020

Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and other global golf partners, the American Junior Golf Association will postpone its entire spring schedule.

"To address health concerns from COVID-19, we wanted to simplify our plans to allow our community to focus on its most urgent needs," said Executive Director Stephen Hamblin. "We’ve taken the past few days to align with mission-critical partners, host facilities and local leaders and ask for their support in rescheduling spring events. We plan to open the season Memorial Day weekend and conduct an expanded schedule with seven events per week to maximize playing opportunities for members."In the coming days, members should expect:

Rescheduled events from March 19-May 3 will return to the Schedule when confirmed. Full refunds, or donations, processed for tournament entry fees in sequential order. Event applications opened for Memorial Day and beyond.Additional member communications as needed. At this time, the AJGA plans to resume safe tournament operations by the end of May but we will continue to monitor rapidly changing circumstances and advice from the CDC, WHO and global partners. We will continue to make, and announce, changes as required.

AJGA National Headquarters will be closed to the public through March 30. Customer service by phone will be available, but may be more limited during this time.

I personally think the summer (July/Aug) Junior Golf Championships are at risk. Translation: 50/50

Reason being they have to make decisions imminently about invitations/acceptances, and families have to make travel arrangements, all at the height of the panic. And there is real panic now.

Airlines are reducing capacity (flights) dramatically, and even if you book a flight it could be cancelled. Staying in a hotel is a real risk due to re-circulated air, etc.

I would advise JuniorGolfParent(s) only sign up for local (driving distance) events, with flexible cancellation/refund policies until the dust settles. 2020 seems like a write-off (asterisk) year.

It looks like HJGT is trying to start back up in 2 weeks. I am not very optimistic it will happen. Nice surprise if they can pull it off.

But a lot hotels are closed and just trying to travel during this time is very scary as there is a very real chance you get stuck and can not get home.

The other thing not mentioned is there is it is bad enough you have a hard time traveling but the economy is really not in good shape anymore. I know I will probably still put my kids in golf tournaments but the number will be reduced for sure for a bit and we are going to be staying closer to home. Worrying about rankings scholarships and such are not really going to be a priority for most people if things are shutdown for a extended period of time.
