2020/2021 Apex Blades

What do we know about these prototype blades that are in JJ Spaun's bag? They look alot like the 2011 Taylormade TP MB's with the screw right behind the sweet spot! If they left them just like that, its a clean looking blade!

i thought the proto Spaun had in the bag was an actual thin blade, this is a thicker blade with inner cavity (P790 etc...)

I think they are a little different but like the Callaway Muira I think they are made by muira. Similar to the blades played by Molinari for a bit. I think these are kind of a mix of the two.

These are the proto’s for the upcoming Apex blade...supposed to be 2021 but COVID may cause delays.

The IC-601, to me, is lightyears away from those Cally prototypes. The 601 has a bunch of offset and a look that I don't think too many tour players would go for. They feel good, though clickier than typical Miura single piece forged,but lauch crazy high! I am pretty sure the 601 is also a hollow multi piece iron build for distance. The weight and muscle would cosmetically be the only thing that those irons have in common IMO. I agree that the prototypes could very well be a Miura forging, just not related to the 601.

FYI - I would LOVE a set of those prototypes!!!

New blades are always great especially if they are basically the adams pro black MBs.

Itll be hard to improve upon the 18 blades. The raw finish option was nice, also saw a “Dot” version tour only that I believe had even less offset.

It would be amazing if these got released with the ability to get different weights to enable headweight/swing weight to be what you desire

As long as they're not built like the Adams, those things used to snap with alarming regularity, you can basically bend a forged Callaway club anyway you want.

Can't wait to see if these come to retail. For those of us that play a heavier weight graphite shaft, traditional tip weights don't work, and the ones that work for graphite add length at the tip. This would be an awesome way to be able to fine tune head weight for those that don't like lead tape.

I wouldn't say they are messing with it for "tech". It is likely a weighting mechanism. That way, they won't need multiple SKU's available for retail and the many tour variants. As long as it doesn't effect performance (which I doubt it would), I see no reason to dismiss it other than a guy not liking the look of it. But, for every person who doesn't care for it, there is someone who loves it. Count me in that camp.

Multiple SKUs for what? There are very little manufacturers with multiples SKUs for one iron line up. It isn't like we are able to go to a store and have a selection of D0, D1, D2, D3 swingweights. You get what is in stock, or custom order a build and hope they are built within spec.

Multiple SKU's for head weights. Light, heavy, standard. Tour players all want something different. And, static weight means something too. Swingweight is not everything.

Oh ok, I thought you were referencing retail space. Regardless I just think the tour van guys are so efficient a removable weight in iron heads isn’t a big deal. I think it is more marketing than performance.
