TaylorMade Sim DHY

I have both SIM UDI 18* w/ TPW 90tx and SIM DHY 19* w/ KBS Prototype 95x..... its probably shaft related since im not a fan of tensei pro white , but the DHY simply performs much bette for me. Pretty much dead even on ball speed but the forgiveness of the DHY is much better. Surprisingly im only averaging .5 degrees higher launch with the DHY but am getting 250 rpm's lower spin and I would say thats very accurate on course

it took a while to get used to the look of the DHY but it does not bother me anymore. Like any club really I think the DHY becomes a very strong performer if you get the right shaft in there. I love mine and will be selling the SIM UDI since the DHY is more consistent and more accurate

Tried the DHY, but with the Diamana Limited Hybrid stiff. Didn't like it. Light, whippy. The DHY didn't win me over wither with looks or feel, but I would like to try it with the Thump. Might bring it to life.

I agree. I have a DHY4 with the GOST Nippon and its really good.  That shaft is so stable and It still long enough to get done what you need to get done.

I have been rocking the 2 DHY with a Thump in it since pretty much its release. The thing is beastly off the tee; I swing @ a smooth 110 and have poked out lil 275 yd runners on occasion (roll helps). Off a tee it's great (fairway finder, long par 3s), but it does leave a lil to be desired as far as off the turf. 17 deg might just be too little for my swing speed. I am considering switching to Ventus Blue HB for a lil extra height. For reference, I am typically a super high ball hitter... good luck!

Just bringing this thread back to see if anyone has any more long-term reviews of the SIM DHY? Can anyone compare it to the GAPR Mid?

I’ve been trying a variety of Hybrids (Callaway Rogue 4 and Srixon Z H85 3) and Driving Irons/Long Irons (Srixon Z U85 3i, Z565 4i, TM P790 4i, P770 4i) and just can’t seem to find the right fit in that 19*-22* spot.

Right now the Z565 w/ an Aldila Tour Blue is the club I feel the best about in the 4i (22*) spot, but am leaning towards trying a SIM DHY or GAPR in the 19* spot with the blend of Driving Iron feel and Hybrid versatility. Would you guys recommend those clubs to replace a Hybrid in a more forgiving way than a Driving Iron?

I just listed one to BST. I loved the club, I am not good hitting traditional hybrids and prefer iron shapes. this club fit the bill, has good feel, and very forgiving. If paired with the right shaft it is a beast, it literally just went too far for me. I was hitting the 19 degree further than I wanted to, which screwed up the gapping at the top of my bag. It is just easier to sell it than reconfigure 2 other clubs at the top of the bag

Excellent feedback, thanks! That’s what I’m thinking too. Have always preferred hitting irons, and the 20* 3 iron used to be my go-to on long Par 3’s, tight Par 4’s, and 2nd shots on long Par 5’s.

Just haven’t been able to get the same consistency out of any of the modern clubs that I’ve tried, so hoping the SIM DHY could offer the best of both worlds.

I’d look at some that are thicker than a P790, or U500 like the SIM DHY, here are a couple listed below that are similar to the SIM DHY

Titleist U-510

Tour Edge EXS Utility Ti

Tour Edge Cbx ironwood

Adams DHY

Ping crossover

Sub 70 699U

Maltby FDI

I've been playing a 3 DHY this season and it's stupid easy to get off the tee when you need that low penetrating runner.   BUT- has anyone had the lie adjusted?  I need it dropped down a couple degrees to really feel 100% confident.

How is the SIM DHY for hitting off the deck from the fairway and the rough?

I had mine flattened 1 degree. there were no issues with doing that and it helped me a bit

I enjoyed it off both surfaces. It does not spin a ton so I had to be conservative when trying to attack greens with it, but it launches pretty well to offset the low spin. I think of it like a game improvement hybrid/long iron.

I have the 2 iron and 4 iron and love them both.  Obviously the 4 iron is easier to hit out of the rough but both super easy to hit off the fairways.  I did upgrade to the Thump 90 shaft in both and think it made a big difference at least for me in terms of launch and feel.

Good to know, thanks! Think I’m going to give it the 3 iron a shot…sounds like what I’m looking for!

Sounds perfect for what I’m looking for! I’d buy yours, but I’m in Canada and would be getting a Stiff rather than X-Stiff.

You'll love it.  I have the 4 and the 2, and I can't think of the last time that I "missed" with my 4.  I put in a Tensei Pro Blue in the 4 and it transformed that club for me.  I hit it 3 times this weekend (long par 3, par 4 with trouble at 240, and into a par 5) and all 3 times I hit it, you'd swear I was on tour.

I've been meaning to switch out the shaft on my 2, but haven't gotten around to it, mostly because the Sim TI 5 wood is THAT good as well.
