EVNROLL ER2 - Thoughts?

Have had my Er2b for a full season.  Had the best putting season of my life.  It could be the fact that I spent more time practicing my putting than ever but the Er2 is just so consistent.  The technology is the real deal.  Even on off-center contact, I don't lose any noticeable distance.  On the worst putting strokes I am only minimally offline. 

 

Keep in mind that there will be an adjustment period when you first get it.  I found that lag putting was the most difficult in my first few weeks with it.  Because the loft is so low compared to most putters, it rolls true almost right away.  As a result, it was challenging to judge distance.  When you do figure it out it becomes another weapon on the course.  But I also got a SAM putter fitting that helped set my putter up to my stroke.  So i'm at 33.5", 73.5* lie, E1 sw.

 

I recently just retrofitted a BGT Stability Tour shaft in it.  Because the head is fairly heavy, the increased stiffness in the midsection was noticeable.  I've only had it for a week not but I am noticing that the dispersion on my lag and mid length putts are improving.

 

Lastly, go with the Gravity Grip.  I was a pingman cord guy for the last 4 years so it was very difficult to adjust to this.  But when I did, it was point and shoot.  The counterbalancing makes the heavier head easier to manage.

That's one good looking putter. What shaft did you put in it? Love the contrast of the black shaft with the silver/black accent head

That’s just the stock black Evnroll shaft that they place in their Blackout putters.

Replaced my Scotty Cameron newport2 with the ER2 3 years back and I don't see myself replacing it. I used to switch out putters ever 2 years or so and have never been as attached to a golf club as the ER2, it has my full confidence.

 

To echo what others have said, it was not love at first hit. I bought it without testing (though I had a putter fitting that told me the ER2 was the right shape/hang for my stroke) and I had to learn the pace just like any other putter but my distance control has never been better. I still have a few of the old putters in my practice green in the office, and they just remind me of why I left and never looked back.

 

Agreed it may not work for everyone, but if you're curious I highly encourage taking a plunge.

I just recently got my ER2B left handed...Yes I said left handed...I work in a golf shop and my owner had a speical putter with the black...It feels incredible....it looks outstanding....I had a ER5 about three years ago and I so excited to play this putter.

Just ordered a 370 gram ER2 yesterday with the gravity grip. Called Evnroll and Alan said if you're going to order one, he recommends the gravity grip on it. Apparently this makes it more face balanced, because without that grip, it has 20 degree of toe hang. I have a SBST stroke and he said based on that, I'll want the gravity grip. My fitter also recommended to have it built that way as it's more balanced with that grip. Can't wait to get it, hope this helps

Coming from a smaller grip it 100% took some time to adjust... I'm now a full season into it and I cannot fathom going back to a skinny putter grip. As I've never played a superstroke or any other oversized putter grip, I cannot say if the gravity grip does anything "special" compared to those but it feels great to be able to increase my grip pressure from 6 feet and in to "lock out" and chance of the wrists influencing the stroke without worry of getting the putter face offline.

Got my 2nd Evnroll!

After a few rounds, distance control for long putts became so great.

Short putts were automatic right from the get-go.

Give this a try!

Well...first round in the books. Seems so easy to get on line. Short putts were automatic and thoughtless. Lag putts were smooth and easy to control distance.

What’s the toe hang like with the Gravity Grip? I’m looking for something more face-balanced, and I’ve heard the GG almost neutralizes the toe hang.

The website says 22 degrees of toe hang, but when I called Evnroll, they said the gravity grip will make it more face balanced. Hope this helps

I’ve had one for about a month now. I love the feel at setup, however to be honest I hated the gravity grip. Switched it out for a SS GT2.0 and cut it down from a 34’ to a 33.5.

 

It’s perfect for me now!

For the ER2 users or any Evnroll putter, how did you find the alignment with the two dots? I wish the dots weren't on the putter at all TBH. I'm assuming the sightline is supposed to be in between the dots at address?

Yeah, if you use a line on your ball, line it up in between the 2 dots on the head.

I liked the ER2 when I had it.  I just wasn't too fond of the sound.  I really liked the gravity grip and rolled the ER2 well while I had it.  I much prefer the slant neck hossels they offer now.

I‘m afraid that there is a misunderstanding concerning the 2 dots on the top line. From an article (I think it was thehackersparadise but I‘m not sure): 
„A rather unique design to Evnroll putters sticks out when lining up to take a putt. On the ER2, there is a traditional alignment aide on the flange of the club. Focus on the top line, and there are two small dots, of which the alignment aide sits between. What is the purpose of these two dots? This answer goes back to something that was mentioned earlier in this article, the gear effect that this putter has. When aligning the putter, golfers can help use this slight gear effect to their advantage, depending on the break of the putt. For a right-handed golfer that faces a putt that breaks right to left, it is advantageous to line the ball up off of the toe-side dot. The opposite is true for a putt that is going to break left to right. By taking advantage of this type of setup, Evnroll says that it will keep the ball breaking towards the hole from the high side.“

I remember reading the same thing about how to use the alignment dots that cuprogolf just shared. Which dot to use is determined by how the putt should break.

Has anyone found that the dot aiming works on breaking putts?
