Heard PXG is skipping Gen 3 Drivers and Fairways (due to proto drivers); GEN 4 Drivers and Fairways to be released soon? ANY INFO?

No, right now it's just people making things up and "alleging" they are hearing rumblings. There is no evidence of any of these rumors, including the "new SIM."

I've heard that Bob Parsons is testing Gen4 irons and that he's sent them back to the drawing board because they're not any better than the Gen3 irons. Caveate: Just because he's testing them doesn't mean they're around the bend like Q1 or Q2 of '21. 

 

I did hear that the next generation of woods and hybrids would jump to Gen4 in name, to match the Gen4 irons. 

 

I also heard there are a few more putters coming out, which would comprise the Battle Ready Collection, of which Backjack was the first putter released in this collection.

Looks like an LST/TS4 type driver to me. smaller back to front, front weight only. on their naming conventions I'd imagine that 0811 X Tour. I like it 🙂

I'd guess its a small tour headed Driver for one of their tour staff players not gaming a PXG driver currently, trying to get them to bag one.  Perez, Kokrak?

Lots of PXG spy shots popping up and they have been killing it with sales all year. I expect a huge drop of new gear from them sometime between now and New Years.

When PXG started dropping prices of their clubs earlier this year it definitely spiked sales.

No no no, it was because they are going out of business per the haters. Um, er... Anyways, will be in Scottsdale for a golf tournament 2nd weekend in December. Vegas has me -$500+ visiting HQ and getting fit for new thingies I don't need but need.

Here's hoping we get some news on the new generation of woods soon. As a lefty I've really been running out of patience being unable to get my hands on the Proto drivers. I got fit into a Gen 2 recently but I've been holding out hoping Proto or the next gen will be made available to us backwards players.

 

I heard someone a while back say a PXG rep they talked to was saying late Q4 for a full release of next gen woods but I don't think that's happening at this point sadly. 2020 is almost over hah.

Outside of the Proto, they've historically released new drivers, fairways and irons mid January. However, they start making an appearance in Nov/Dec prior to release.

Is this the one that finally puts PXG into a middle of the pack driver instead of hanging down at the bottom with Wilson?

That's gonna be a long time to wait, but I guess the winter will make it a little easier. I even checked the conforming list after seeing some of these pictures earlier in the thread and saw the Proto on the list in Lefty. I wonder what the deal is and why they didn't offer it for Lefties despite it getting on the conforming list. It certainly is frustrating 😕

I bought a proto with aftermarket shaft (got fitted at club champion, but ended up purchasing through PXG) for less than $400 after tax.  I hit the SIM slightly better, but after paying for the non-stock shaft upgrade, grip and the head I was looking at close to $800 for a driver...  I hit it better, but nowhere near $400 better.  Thought the Proto with Hzrdus Smoke for $365 was a pretty good deal.  It's it a bottom of the pack driver in terms of tech or something?

It might just be me but the Gen 2 0811X is probably the best performing driver I've ever used. That said I tend to be someone who likes heavier head drivers and PXG is the only other company I can think of that gets up into the Ping realm in terms of weight.

I think the prototype driver is one of the best of 2020. It maybe missed the bot a little by being late to market it a lot of reviews speak very highly of it. The only criticism I’ve seen is that it’s slightly too high spin. 
 

People still want to bash PXG for being high priced but they are starting to deliver on the expectation.
 

The hybrids are no joke, probably the best I’ve hit.

It does makes one wonder why Pat Perez, a staunch PXG staffer, would pull the Proto driver and 3 wood and sub the Taylormade SIM driver and 3 wood!
