MITSUBISHI MMT Iron Shafts. Steel Equivalent?

I believe the MMT were designed to mimic Dynamic Golds. Someone else will chime in with a more concrete answer but it’s been mentioned here before.

Depending on the fit, we've alternated between Modus Tour 120's and 130s and Oban Steel CT 115 and 125s, just to name a couple options.  Those have similar kick points.  There are a lot of options to be honest.

Are you saying. Players that have previously been in those shafts you listed had good and similar success with the mmt?

I play Project X but I could easily play modus 130. I could possibly see similar results with the MMT?

In the big MMT thread, MCI said the 125 TX is based on the X100. J13, the author and leading contributor of the thread went from Modus 130X to 125 TX without issue. I personally played X100 since they were introduced and didn't have any desire to change. I happened to try the 125 TX and was hooked on the feel and results. I have no plans to go back to steel, ever.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Of course, it's player dependent, but we always present options to a player that wants similar performance in steel or graphite.  For example, my son, a strapping almost 17 year old hits the crap out of Modus 105s.  We could have easily put him in a similar bend profile for MMT, Recoils or whatever.  He decided to go with Accra 80i Stiff, he didn't want to work as hard in his swing and it's easier on his body.  As he gets stronger, I'm positive he'll have to go heavier.  He probably could and should now.  But to your question, yes.  Those players could have gone either way and they got numbers that were close and it came down to preference and cost.  Graphite costs more and when performance is close, and if we can save someone $10-$20 per iron, that's significant.  Now, if we can show that someone NEEDS graphite and performs way better, it's easy.  But if it's within a couple yards and dispersion is the same, it's a coin flip and looking in a checkbook to see if they can swing the extra cost.

I recently went from PX 6.5's in the P790/760 combo to the MMT 125 TX ss x1 in the P770's.  Amazing.  Same weight (but you can feel the head weight more) and stoutness with superior feel.  I have also played Recoils in the distant past.  MMT is legit.

I have the MMT 125 TX in my irons.  To me they are pretty low spin like the c-tapers but lower launch which was the last steel shafts I had in my bag.  They were modeled after the S300/X100 supposedly.  They are pretty damn close to steel with the added benefit of being easier on my hands and wrists.

Correct aside from I was playing the Modus 120TX (not 130X).  The MMT 125TX was a seamless transition.

Has anybody switched from PX LZ 6.0? I need to go back to graphite but cannot decide if I should go with the 105 S or the 105 TX. The TX might be too stiff for me but the 105 S too light. I played MCA OT-I 105 shafts in stiff and liked them, just a tad too weak, and overall felt too light.

Old post.  I'm in the same boat, switching from Project X LZ 6.0 and hit it well, but lots of simulator golf may be catching up with me...did you try the MMT 105?

These MMTs work for a lot of different players. You will be hard pressed to find someone who did not get on with them…. They may not have been optimal… but most player can easily game them with success.

i love x100 and modus 130S shafts. Really got on with the mmt 125S shafts. they have that same smooth feel that both those steel have…. But  stay tight through the swing. I have also had success with KBS tour V and KBS $-Taper and C-Taper Lite.

Going to experiment with MMT 105TX as well ….. I play the modus 105X successfully and sometimes experiment with 110- 115g shafts….

but I loving the graphite experiment. So far….. also put some Wishon 585PC in a set of steelfiber 110i.

For me, the 105 TX and the DG 120 X100 are very similar.  Both shafts' cut weight is about 113g.  The PX 6.0 (non-LZ) also has a similar cut weight, but those felt different to me.  Didn't care for them, but can't put my finger on why.
