So far, the announcers are not well informed.  Dottie Pepper made a big deal about how a rules official should have been called in for Reed.  He did, but he didn't have to.  Rory made the same ruling, by himself, in the rough.

 

Just now, another announcer made a mistake.  It's comedy gold.

If it happens, Reed deserves the win.  He doesn't deserve the hate that Rory did without a rules official, with the same situation.  We will see.

Yep no one verified Rory’s either. And the rules were changed to say you don’t need it. Yet...only one person keeps being brought up. 
 

The rules were changed in ‘19.  Wanna go back and invalidate every embedded ball that wasn’t verified. If you think these are the only two well...

Tackett might be right, but did he know if Reed had marked his ball yet? If Reed did then yes you put it back. If he didn’t, then you play it where it ended up. I thought Nobilo was referring to the latter but I’m not 100% confident on that.

This is the truth.  Patrick did it with assistance from a rules official, Brad Fabel.  Rory did it on his own.  Make your own judgement.

Again, you and the TV commentators should take it up with the rules committee and not with the players. Players are told to speed up, the rule was changed to advance pace of play. Take your gripes up with them.

Reading comprehension.  It's a thing.  I replied to the bolded quote.  Regarding the RULES, yes, they should be treated the same.  With regard to the "amount of hate" each receives for perceived wrongdoing, then yeah, their past histories and reputations are completely within bounds.

Yes, but Rory is still to be more trusted because he has a more honest history. I still think Reed was fumbling around with the ball way too much.

The video clearly showed Patrick with mark still in the ground. It moved before he picked it up.
