Phantom X 5.5 headcovers

Anyone else have any suggestions? I just got my X 5 today, and the Velcro is incredibly underwhelming. Really would like to see a magnet with a snug fit.

My spider vault headcover just fits my x5.5 and that’s magnetic, although I’ve been told that’s sacrilege putting a Taylormade cover on a Scotty by my mates.

 

Also looking for alternative magnetic covers for my x5.5 but I’m UK based.

Anyone have good suggestions for a black cover that will fit the 5.5? Can have designs and stuff, just want the main theme to be black

The black Winston ones work perfect.

I think Winston should be near the top of the list

I'd reach out. They will be able to get you a plain one or custom logo

Their ebay store has mystery logos available, sometimes can get something really cool

Ironically I messaged PRG and they said “we think it may fit”. At £25 for a headcover “we think” wasn’t enough when I only own one mallet putter! So thank you for your post, it’s helped me massively.

Check Odyssey - I use one of theirs for my QB10 because it has a magnetic cover and is easy to get on and off.  I don’t know if it’s big enough for the SC, but there’s a little bit of extra room with the QB10.

Didn’t know it until recently but Vessel makes really good covers. Fits my Spider X well so should fit the Scotty. Strong magnet too

Tried this a month ago, it is MASSIVE. Does not fit the 5.5 at all.

Don't feel bad, I have an X11.5 and I HATED the yellow scotty cover, so I pulled out an older Taylormade spider cover from my old gamer and have been using that. Fits like a champ! LOLOLOLOL!!!!

Going to bump this thread and see if anyone has come up with anything new. I ideally want a black leather one with a magnet that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

It's a mallet. Swag's mallets fitting page indicate they fit the 5.5. So you could do anything custom from EP. They will make a mallet for you however you want it.

This has also been a pursuit of mine to fit a Scotty Triple Black putter, my objective also was a black headcover.  I've tried the Vessel mallet cover, its a little to big so I modified it by lowering the magnet, its ok.   I'm also a fan of dormie headcovers.   I found the holy grail of headcovers that perfectly fits a 5.5.  My son recently purchased a Ping PLD Prime Tyne, why all mid mallet headcovers aren't designed this way is beyond me,  it fits perfectly.   The good thing is Ping just recently launched a new PLD product line, part of which is a tyne head, so in essence, these mallet covers should become more readily available.  Of course you would have to be ok, with the discreet ping logo, on a scotty product, otherwise Dormie will custom make it to spec but your looking at a couple hun vs the 50.00 that I think the ping cover will retail for.

Can you give us some feedback on how the dormie cover fit on the 5.5?

When I finally realized, that the PLD mallet headcover was the perfect fit for the 5.5, I approached Dormie, to custom,  using the PLD as a template.  they guesstimated that I was looking at $200.00 minimum.   At this point I had already invested in the Vessel, $135.00, it was to big and I couldn't return it as I would take a bath on duty, tax and shipping, so I modified it, by lowering the magnet to make it a tighter fit.  I have several pieces of dormie, but I do not own one of their mallet covers.  I adore Dormie, but I've noticed like all companies that are successful, the prices for their products have steadily increased, to a point that I personally don't want to afford.  My own opinion, is that the stock dormie mallet cover will be too big, one cover does not fit all, unlike a blade head cover.

I just found this and ordered one. The company is called Pearly Gates, out of China I guess. You can buy them on Ali Express, DHGate, etc. I will let you know how it fits when it arrives.

I ended up finding one a at St. Marlo CC that fit it nicely over the weekend. Loved the colors as it matches my bag

Got my head over in today, I actually really like it! They sent me the wrong design that I ordered, but I still like it. It has a really nice fit and seems snug. The dual magnet closure is nice and doesn’t just come off when you pull it out of the bag. I’m going to order a few more. 🙂
