Modern day 7 woods loft are OG 5 woods. Not surprised to see it in lots of players bag.

On top of that modern day words are huge too. 7 woods are usually smaller which better players prefer.

Agreed, my R15 is 120cc and the TSi2 is 132cc....both look great at address. Seems that most 5w these days are cruising around 150cc+.

Not surprised AS found his way to the TSi2.

A lot of people say that, but I have an old Founders Club tiny little steel 7 wood from the early 90's and it's 21*...it's the same size as a modern hybrid, but same loft as 7 woods of today.

Ya, black ventus. I’ve got a black ventus 7x in my 3w tipped 1.5, just ordered a red 9x tipped 2” for my 21 degree ts2.

The black could be pretty awesome. Maybe the 8 or 10x in black would be cool. to try. I really like this red though. Works really well.

Ya I’ve heard so many good things about the red 9x in a fairway I figured I would try it first and if I feel the need to lower launch and spin a little I’ll go black.

Thing is it’s impossible to get a 90 or 100 gram shaft directly through the fairway wood manufacturer.

I got very concerned about this too but I am extremely happy with my Ventus Blue 8x in 5 wood and 7 wood. They’re both certainly heavy enough.

I should have said closer to OG 5 wood. I remember when 5 woods were 19+ degrees. Nowadays seem like 5 wood is around 17.5 degrees.

I’ve had my 915 ad bb7x 7w in my bag for 3 years. Such a versatile club for me...can flight it, work it, rough, off a tee...anything from 200-225 it’s great.

I wonder what club did he take out for the 7W?

And isn’t a long iron more versatile than a 7W?

Good question.

But I think the question depends on who we are as a player and our speed. I don't look at pros that much as their game is, let's say, different.

I have used a TEE EX10 Beta in 16.5 and 19 for 3 yrs - had enough separation with one inch between shaft length. Then I go 4H, 5-PW. Bought the TE EXS220 in 16.5 and 19 - easier launching. I also have the TEE 3h and 4h but I won't use both unless a par 3 calls for it or conditions say use the 3h, not the 4h that day.

Did the same with a second set of fwy woods, SIM TI 3 and 5wd with aftermarket shafts - I can loft it to 16 and 20 if wanted and go 4H and have an inch between shaft length if wanted.

7 wood? Depends on whether you want to use a 5 wd that launches well or a 4 wd, 7 wd combo for the separation you want.

Good luck

FW lofts are jacked just like iron lofts, it all started with the Callaway Heavenwood I think.  Todays 7 wood is really yesterdays 4 or 5 wood.

Most persimmon lofts went Driver 11, 2 wood 13, 3W 16, 4w 19, 5w 22, then often it was a 6 wood or even 7 wood although those werent' that common, usually in the form of a Ginty or something of that nature.  Some of the earlier models had even more loft, with a 1,2,3,4 wood carrying the same loft range.  Lee Trevino famously carried a 6 wood in his prime, not sure of the exact specs, as I think it was custom made.  Billy Casper carried something similar as well, I remember an article where he talked about the virtues of a 6 wood.  "Real golfer"s carried a 1 and 2 iron back then.  LOL.

I have this inclination to go to the people’s clubs and get a 21* TSi2 with a Ventus red 9x tipped 2” with a few grams of hot melt up by the face. Put it in the c1 position and it should land softer than my 5 wood....

this place costs me so much cash

That is my set up my exactly minus the hot melt. I feel like I can just launch this thing and it goes super high but with good spin. I can also hit a lower ball that runs..

Has it been something you can play off the tee for position without ballooning?  Anything remotely close to a stinger?
