Blended set with multiple OEMs

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone has attempted a blended set from different OEMs? I recently purchased some blueprints and was planning to blended it with i210's for the 4 and 5 iron. However, I'm finding that it's hard to convince my wife to let me buy more after having spent so much on the blueprints. I Was planning to sell my 585/785 blended set, but part of me is wondering if I can keep the 4 and 5 iron of the 585's, adjust lofts, and hold onto them. Has anyone else had success blending irons from different OEMs?

I have a set of Hogan PTx pros that I play 5-P, and my 4 iron is a Apex UT iron.  It's doable, and I would say play a combination that you're comfortable with.  As long as the clubs fill the gap you're wanting them to, that's all that matters.

Have you thought of selling the long irons of the Blueprints, and using that money to buy the i210 4 and 5 iron?  Between the money you make off of selling the 585/785 irons, and the Blueprint irons, that would more than cover a couple of i210 long irons, and then some more golf clubs that you know you need in your life 😂

I often blend irons for a mixed set just for kicks for a casual round. Often I found the shafts make the most difference. Some shafts just don’t perform well for me.

I've tried the thing with my wife where I say "but I sold these so I'm net positive," but she only seems to care about the number of boxes that comes to the house haha....

My wife doesn't say much as long as I tell her before hand that I "Sold X", and with that money, I'm buying "Y"....it's the surprises that get me into trouble 😂

I'm going to have to find a way to explain the iron purchase I plan on making in the fall, especially after I get a new truck sometime this summer. I'm planning on getting a blended set of X5/X7 irons.  It would be one thing to just put them straight in the bag, and then box my current irons up, but I'm going to order them stock and install my current shafts into the heads I order.  Can't hide that when I'm heating and pulling heads on the patio 😂

To me as long as lofts are uniform and shafts are uniform you should be ok as long as you are cool with it.

This is my move! Usually I can do one better. "You know that driver I got for $50? I sold it for $75 and then got a $250 driver for $120!

I sold my Sumo and got an M3. I didn't mention the shaft I also bought ($60). 🤣

<edit> the irons I want are supposed to come out in April (BDG Series 2 in lefty), so I need to figure that one out myself as well.

My current iron set is 2 OEM's and 3 lines. Ping and Nike. I'll be down to two OEM's if I can find a Vapor Combo 4i.

My mavrik max and pro combo set might as well be 2 different brands they looks so different at address. TXG has mentioned doing a mixed brand bag a few times in some of their lives. I hope they do it just to see how it would work out.

We're going on a Minimalist Adventure who knows were we'll end up:

Srixon 585 4, 5, 6 irons with MP4 7 thru pw. Had all lofts bent to standard MP4 lofts.

So glad to hear your experience given I'm planning something similar. Did you find there was a big gap between 6 and 7 even after adjusting lofts? The 585s just seem super long for me.

Until recently, anyway, it seemed to work OK for Tommy Fleetwood. It’s not something that I would be keen to try but manufacturers do seem much more amenable to selling individual clubs, etc from a set these days so no harm in giving it a go. Just don’t expect much when it comes to selling or trading in your ‘set’.

Considering this at the moment - Thinking about picking up 4-6 irons in a more forgiving setup...
Originally looked at getting 921f to merge into MP59s but now considering ZX5s and see if I want to complete full srixon set later in the year.
With the cost of clubs these days its a big saving if you are happy with at least 8-PW.

IMHO Nothing wrong with that---- I have always been of the thought of play what works for your game does not matter if there are 10 different brands in the bag. Get it done by what means necessary

Over the last few years I went through a stretch in which a Titleist 718 T-MB 5i was at the top of the bag for 6i-PW for the following:  JPX 919, MP20, and Ping i210.  Not only that, it had a shaft that was different in both weight and flex to the others.

No issue at all - I’m not that good so I only swing one club at a time...

I made a similar thread and most people seemed to think that they just couldn’t stand to look at it.  I personally love the idea.  As long as they have the same shafts I think it is probably the best way to really fine tune a set to your liking.  I set out to make a blended set with different companies but ended up with a weird mix of callaway clubs.  7-p are apex pros and the “5 and 6” are epic forged.  I use quotation marks because the 6 iron is actually an epic forged 7 irons and the 5 iron is the epic forged 6 iron.  It gaps really nicely and I am happy with the set, but I can see why it would bring out the ocd in most people...

Not anything unmanageable once the lofts were adjusted.  7 iron is about 163.  6 iron is about 177.

See the sig. 770's might creep into the 5 and 6. OCD in me says get TM blades but there would be zero performance benefit so why do it?
