I'm noticing mixed reactions to Lexi these days. I guess she must be aware of this.

 

Megha Ganne would be an amazing winner. Yuka Saso or Lee6 would be fun. Shanshan would be nice too. A playoff would be an interesting end to it.

She's dealt with a bad back in the past. Seems to be walking gingerly. She looked the same last Sunday morning during her semifinal round.

Ouch. And just like that Megha is out of the running. Nasty double on the 1st and a dropped shot on the 2nd drops her to even for the tournament. She's now in a race for low Am.

I know Lexi has a 3-shot lead, but do you really think someone like Megha is out of contention at Even par?  I don't mean Megha herself per se, but I don't think the golf will be as spectacular as yesterday.  I think Lexi will need to make 3 - birdies and no bogeys to win this.  If she stumbles just a little, someone could catch lightning in a bottle much the same way that A Lim Kim did last December.   I'm thinking Lee6 is in the best position for that, other than Saso of course ... or that could just be wishful thinking as Lee6 is in my roster of players for the "contest"  😄

Anything is possible, but 7 shots is more than any player has overcome. There's just not a lot of birdie opportunities out there based on the scoring so far today.

I know that you're referring to the women, but in 1966 at the US Open at this very course, Arnold yielded a 7-stroke lead on the back nine to lose to Billy Casper in a Monday playoff!

Yeah, could very well pan out like that...it all depends on whether there is player who gets it going or not.  Heck she could even win with a +1 (72) today if the massacre continues.

A 180 is when the ball makes a u-turn, and comes back to you. A 270 goes 3/4s around the hole. A 360 makes one full trip around the cup, and continues beyond the hole. Sheesh. Golf Channel, I'm still waiting for a call.

I feel like Rolex isn't getting their money's worth with this uninterupted coverage.  The production staff can't seem to show more than 3-5 minutes of golf, before they have to queue up a 1-2min segment, or cover up the screen with more USGA advertisements.

Couple of comments.  Switching channels to watch this tournament is maddening.  Comcast/NBC has like 50 channels they could put this on in its entirety then simulcast on NBC during the finishing holes.  Who is cancelling Peacock tomorrow?  (Might wait until the men’s Open is over).  I like Tripp as an analyst.  I like his insight and how he discusses options for each shot. Last year of Mike Davis.  Thankfully they didn’t mess up the course.  Let’s go Mike Whan!

Nobody saw Arnie's collapse in 1966 after he shot 32 on the front nine and increased his lead from 3 at the start of the round to 7 with only 9 holes to play. 

 

Way too early to call it but I'm pulling like heck for Lexi.
