How many 17yr old junior's in High School do you know that have mental coaches?

High Schools and Colleges employ counsellors but I wouldn't expect them to know much about sport psychology. You'd need to employ a really good sport psychologist privately, but since golf is a big expense in itself I'd factor in the mental game at any age. Teenagers are perfectly receptive to learning strategies.

Universities with specialist golf teams really ought to have sports psychologists on their staff.

Course rating is for scratch golfer.

Of course, but from the tees being played the 79.2 you quoted is for women  golfers. The male rating is

mote accurate to use for

the lady pros. They hit the ball further actually than the men’s rating is based on.

Just in the last year, Lexi has gone from an Evnroll double bend wide blade putter to a TM slant neck Spider to a Scotty plumber's neck moon mid mallet with an Evnroll grip. That's quite the array of head, neck, and grip styles. She might be worse than DJ.

I'd bet with you, and I usually win (just ask @Argonne69 😛), the average score for this tournament will be much higher than 75.50 for weekdays and 74.50 for weekends.

I don’t know how someone would simulate or practice the pressure of the final found of the US Open. I folded like a lawn chair in playoff hole in a GolfWeek tournament, lol.

Once lost an early round matchplay tourny at the first play off hole after being 4 up with 4 to play. Couldn't feel my hands or arms. Got a good tip off Faldo the other day. Just rock the shoulders, take arms out of play.

You should start picking a weekly winner of each event, like many of us do. Since you usually win, it would be a great joy to have you join in.

Don't expect this one to be the last this year. It does appear she is still playing the old S2 forged irons.

Thanks for your confidence!

I'm sure you know the answer to your own question; the reason I've never picked a winner before the tournament is because it's something I can't win.

The course rating is 79.2 for the average woman golfer. Little to do with lpga pros. I take it you got that from Ganne posting her round for handicap?

Agree.

When I look at judging a LPGA pro's game I also measure it against the men's rating and slope system.

I once looked at Jin Young Ko's game when she was lighting it up in the summer of 2019.....I think the average of her best 10 differentials was about 67....heck it might have even been 66.

If I take an average men's rating for the LPGA course set up these gals play....I say it's around 71/130.

Using 67....I get a men's cap for JYK at +3.33....I think if it was a women's cap....I'm guessing around +6.3.

And then there's the:

Can a 4 cap male beat a LPGA pro thread...LMAO.

Probably. And the conditions are not the same as the average round either. A scratch golfer would average about three strokes over the course rating. Not sure where you came up with the 75.5 and 74.5 but I would never make that bet on a US Open setup.

The 79 rating would be for a woman's scratch...not a male scratch....and I think the USGA posted they would play the course at approx the men's blue tees at about 6600 yards...I don't think they ever played it at 6600 any day....likely.....6400....6500 tops.

According to the USGA website, here is the yardage for each round.

1st - 6,362

2nd - 6,383

3rd - 6,338

4th - 6,325

The weekday 75.50 was based on comments from the announcers, I calculated the weekend average myself.

You know Hole #6 was shortened for 3 days, Hole #7 was shortened to 226 yards yesterday, Hole #19 was shortened to 99 yards for one day.  And the list go on and on.

As far as the rough, please read the article below:

"The rough has since been evenly trimmed to 2¾ inches, which is what it will play for the championship, Bodenhamer said."

How do you not root for Shanshan Feng? To have that attitude and still be able to win at this level ... amazing.

If the rough is 2 1/2 inches the ladies wear very low cut shoes. Every time they go into the rough their shoes  disappear.
The yardage is never the same daily on any tour and most times it is shorter. Nothing new here.

Thanks.

I should have said the LPGA site...which referenced just under 6600.

https://www.lpga.com/tournaments/uswomensopenconductedbytheusga/course-info

With the hills and lack of roll and dense cool air it’s certainly playing over 6600.
