Update - I got back on the phone with Ping (since the Golf Warehouse sucks) and got a really good rep.  The backorder issue was the stupid grips.  I explained there were 3 or 4 different mid-sized grips that would work and would prefer not to wait on the grips given the supply chain issues and uncertainty as to when they would be back in stock.  I explained that I was getting no help from the Golf Warehouse on anything.  He said technically he was not supposed to change anything without approval from the retailer (Golf Warehouse), but he understood my frustration with them and would swap out the grips anyway and would take the responsibility for following up with the Golf Warehouse.  I switched to a different grip that they had in stock and I got a FedEX 2nd day air shipping notice from Ping this AM.

So kudos to Ping customer service!  That rep clearly went above and beyond to help me.

Of course it will be a cold day you know where before I order from the Golf Warehouse again.  In fairness, I've ordered from them before and they seem to do fine when it's something they have in stock.  It's clearly a different ballgame if you have to use their customer service for something.  It just appears nearly impossible to get straight answers from them and them only being willing to email Ping vs. call them really bugged me.  I couldn't even get the correct Ping order number from them which is what the Ping rep needed to look it up (the Ping rep ended up having to look it up by order date and then was able to confirm the address to find the order).  I got 3 different Golf Warehouse reps calling their number on the 3 different calls.  None were helpful and all had slightly different answers to my inquiry.

Ordering off the internet is very easy, and I "thought" a big outfit like the Golf Warehouse might get priority on a pre-order vs. a local shop that has very little volume which is the only reason I went that way in the first place.  I should have payed a bit more and ordered local.  Lesson learned.

Ping customer service has always been really good. Glad they were able to help.

Agreed I had a similar experience with a store in my area I put my ping order through they have been very difficult to communicate with about my order, called ping myself a few days ago explained the situation, service rep found my order and told me my shaft selection was holding up the order he changed it for me on the spot and I got a fedex notification today, should be here tuesday. Ping did suck with the lead times the past year but every time I've spoken to their customer service against other companies, they have been the best. Seems they are really working on fixing their image that's scaring people away from ordering. I was one of those myself, but glad I pulled the trigger.

Mine are set to arrive the first part of April which would be about 3 weeks total. Fingers crossed.  I did go with the AWT 2.0 vs IO so hopefully that helps.

I ordered them February 11th and the arrived last Thursday.  Ordered them 1/2 inch long, 2 degrees flat. They are better than expected. Look great and consistent distances throughout the set. I had the i500 and my gapping between 9-pw and 7-8 was off. Very happy with purchase.. Can't wait for courses to open.

Has anyone made a combo set with the i59s? If so, I’m interested to hear your thoughts on meshing lofts and shaft selection.

I posted earlier that these were just as long indoors at regular spec as my 425 power specs. Got them outdoors and not the case. Power spec 425 5-10 yards longer. Just wanted to clarify. Loft for loft they are probably equal but the 525 feel great and look great, I am happy with the purchase.

I found that the standard spec i525 7-iron (fitting) consistently carried 10 yards further than my standard spec G425 7-iron. This was during a shot-for-shot live analysis on an outdoor range with Trackman.

I assume the shaft may be playing a role (Nippon Modus 105 vs. Project X IO 6.0).

The i525 is noticeably different. I have never minded the sometimes springy feel of the face and auditory click of the G425 (or any GI iron), but the i525 had almost none of that despite also being hollow body.

The feel is very solid. I’ve never been a feel snob, but the i525 felt great. A great solid thwack whereas the G425 is much more of a loud click/snap on well struck shots. I don’t know if it’s the hot melt, or just the different head, but the feel in the i525 feels better and was more confidence inspiring. Infinitely improved over the i500 in my opinion.

I will say I could hear some evidence of the hollow “click” in some of the indoor reviews online, but this was mostly nonexistent outdoors, and even more so when compared with the clicky G425.

I played my first round with them yesterday. I agree with all of this. The sound and feel are really good. I had a single shot that was a little higher pitched, clicky. It was one that was a bit to the hosel side of the center of the face. A friendly reminder that danger lurked…but still landed center of the green.

If you’ve hit PXG irons, I’d put feel and

sound somewhere between Gen 2s and Gen 3/4.

My miss is typically overdrawing the ball and it was baby draws the whole round with them.

What shafts did you get in yours?  That will contribute at least a little bit to the feel.

I really didn't pay much attention to the sound during my fitting - I mean it was indoors after all and all that goes with being in an enclosed fitting bay, so I'll reserve my judgment on sound for on course outside when (hope soon) they are assembled and arrive.  As I said, feel to me was only slightly different to the T200 which I loved (and hit that outside a couple days before) and had a lovely outdoor sound.  They say feel and sound are related, so we'll see! I'm sure if my first on course shot is a beatifically arcing 165 yard 7 iron tight to a pin I'll declare feel and sound to be the best ever, lol.

Just the standard Project X IO. I started testing with the Nippon Modus 105 (my current gamer), but the Nippon did not feel as smooth on the i525 head, despite feeling amazing in the G425 head and in my 3.0 wedges.

Project X IO was much smoother, for whatever reason…I guess that’s likely why they set it as the stock shaft for this head.

I'm coming from G425 and on the trackman the i525's were about 2, maybe 3, yards longer. I was not focused on distance at all, that wasn't my reason for switching, but I do recall seeing the i525 just a hair longer. Both standard lofts. The i525's were a couple hundred less rpm's which might've been the difference.

My main reason for changing was A) feel and B) size. I'm a 4-5 handicap and been wanting to try something smaller. Especially when I get down to the PW and UW... it got to the point last fall where I just hated the chunkiness of the G425's at that short end of the bag. Trying to take 5-10 yards off either of them was kind of nightmarish for me. I'd say the i525's feel better. Not night and day but I can notice it. The size and shaping is a massive difference, especially on the wedge end of the bag. The PW is big enough where I won't lack confidence but it's a "night and day" different look than the G425. Super excited for the weather to warm up and start dialing them in.

I was unimpressed.  I tried them out versus the p790 (2021) and couldn't much that they did well in comparison.  Distance, dispersion, feel were all better (for me) with the p790s.  The only thing I preferred with the i525s were the top line profile.

Opposite experience for me. The i525's are longer than the 2021 790's, launch a tad higher, better front to back dispersion, and just want to fly straighter, I drew the ball too much with the 790's. Feeling and sound are very comparable vs the 790's, neither iron is going to be confused for a forged iron.

They have the different lofts, but you aren’t bound by them. Mine from 5-P are 24, 28, 32, 36, 41, 46.

How did you get that done? Just ask them to bend from a standard spec set?

These are the exact lofts and gaps I’d target but seldom see so wondering how you approached it.

PING will do whatever you want.  They’ve done completely custom lofts for me in the past but it’s easy for them to offer 1/4 strong/weak 1/2 club strong/weak

See above, they’ll do it! That’s what the fitter sent to Ping and that’s what will show up ……….. someday!
