can anyone compare these (or the mizzy 225s) to the JPX 921 forged?

I can but probably won't be worth reading, lol.  I didn't even hit enough shots with the JPX during my fitting last week to generate a sample size because I just didn't like them and tried a couple shafts that were working with other heads and something about the feel, the sole, or whatever just made me hand it back and say "let's move on".  Same with a comparable new Tour Edge iron.  But that's me.

My main comparison other than my current set was a Titleist T200 and I love the feel and sound of the T200 and thought the Ping was marginally different in sound and not quite the feel, but felt fine to me, and the i525 clearly outperformed the T200 in my pretty lengthy session so . . . I'm back in Ping after a long absence.

Testing was indoors.

Today's the day, the "official" release date.  I'm hoping to get a shipping notice, but have a feeling I won't.  Golf season still doesn't start for me for another 3 weeks, hopeful they will come by then.

When did you order? What shaft? I dropped off a putter for some work earlier in the week and the guy I spoke with aid everything is good to go on their side for this release, but also all of their current lines, 1-2 weeks on g425 woods.

Only thing holding them up are the shafts. I know KBS is still having issues getting shafts out to anyone right now.

Nippon 105's. Standard loft and lie with Tour Velvet mid-size grips.  With my luck the order will be held up by something stupid like the grips.

hey fellas. really intrigued by this release.

question though, are there any other custom shaft options besides the ones listed on their website? I recall, there used to be a Ping Custom Shaft option PDF but can't seem to find it.

Would love to try these with Aerotech Steelfiber shafts

Thanks

Yeah you can get about anything through the custom department, just have to get who's ordering it to price it out for you.

I looked at the SF in mine when ordered, but I think the upcharge was like $75 a stick...

Thats not that bad considering I paid like $30 a club to get LZs in mine.  Someone was trying to make a buck off me I guess lol.

You can get more options from fitters, some online retailers ...

Ping has pretty slim pickings as they get everything made for them.  I'm sure a ping rep can order what you want, but getting fit requires places that have all the universal demos, not the ping cart.

I've used Club Champ with great success, not all are created equal however.

I'm unlikely to wait too long for mine, just nightmarish backlogs these days.  Could get lucky soon, could wait for months or more.

Looks like some standard sets are popping up available already and I've found a few used sets of my 2nd choice (Mizzy 225's) available too.  Waiting on something backordered is such a roll of the dice.

Thank you gentleman. Was able to get a quote for a set with steelfiber. sooooooo tempting.

I literally took delivery of custom ordered MIzuno JPX921 hot metal pros earlier in the week for an order placed back in January 2022.

Fitting 525 next week...i59 experiment over.  Loved them but it appears my miss is toe-ish and that is literally the only place you can't hit those.  Hncp suffered...

I've now lost the bag is set challenge 4x already...it's march.

Callaway UW looks nice too...

Got the irons on the range this morning, love them, they are everything and then some outdoors, compared to the indoor fitting that is.

I went +1/2" on the PX IO's for the first time, I was fit by a Ping Master Fitter who suggested the +1/2" on the irons, I have always played standard length irons. My miss in the past has been hitting irons thin. I had a little adjustment period on the range, 10-15 balls once I had my posture and stance set correctly, I began to flush the ball, pretty quick transition from playing standard length my entire life.

Feel is greatly improved over the 500's, along with sound, although not perfect by any means, a higher click compared to my 790's, which are clicky as well but more of a muted/lower click sound.

Performance wise they were a few yards longer than the 790's, along with a slightly higher ball flight. I am going to have to have them regripped, I messed up my order and ordered jumbo grips for some unknown reason, I think I just confused the color code, went orange instead of gold. It was hard for me to turn the ball over to the left due to the jumbo grips. I'm fairly confident that once I get the mid size grips on I'll be good to go. My experience indoors during the fitting is that they just want to fly straight.

I will follow up with the on course review tomorrow!

I wasn't a hoe..this site + the 'ability' to hoe, got me going.  S55 3yrs...i500 3yrs....i59 3 months....

Then the try this shaft, drop the hybrid, no bring it back...3i why not?

No more tinkering for this guy...full fit, take the time to build the gaps, settle in and quest back to 1-2 hncp.  May not take long given the new WHS..Or until Ping 430 carbonfly technology comes out.  🤑

Great question, the U wedge was the easiest set gap wedge I’ve ever hit. Not to mention it looks amazing, it blends perfectly with my Zipcore wedges.

do you find that it’s juiced up more than your previous gap wedge? I’m afraid of having a huge distance gap between my gap and sand wedge.

I210 player here. I love the 210’s with the exception of the 4 & 5 iron. I struggle getting the thick sole through the turf on firm courses. Looking for feedback comparing the long irons of the 210’s to 525’s.

Not too crazy of a gap between that and my 54. Seems pretty similar to my 790’s. My Cleveland 54/sand wedge is usually 105 on a full swing. The 525 U was 115-120. Again initial early tests, no track man but  I did use my laser on the range to the flags.
