I ordered my set 2 days after preorders opened while waiting for the fitter to get the heads in the mail, so I have my finger’s crossed for an early arrival, but not sure if I’ll make the first batch or not and I don’t wanna bug my fitter too much

I just got confirmation from my course today while I was out playing (trying to play) that my irons are scheduled to be shipped out 3/24.

 

So not sure if that'll get delayed with some custom options I selected (d3 swingweights and LZ shafts), but we'll see.

Geez, what a a time for forgiving, good looking and performing players irons that a 10 hcp here can play! Had a two day tournament in Florida that mimicked the Players, horrible rain and wind like Bandon Dunes! Then , sunny and 70 today. Anyway, saw a i525 demo 7 iron at our club yesterday. Took it out all weekend. Same PX io shaft as my Mizzy 225s. On the range, it was good but “clickier “ and  I was not an instant fan. Almost returned it right away but performed as good as the 225. On the course, real world,  it was as good as the 225, sound was great and trajectories were higher with more spin. Looks better at address, inspiring look. Performance was enough for me to consider a set. My wife is convinced I’m nuts. I don’t want to return the seven iron…

Most would say the i525 is a little firmer or clickier than the 225's. And it kind of makes sense, Ping is all about performance above all and will sacrifice a little feel while Mizuno has built their brand around feel.

 

Just from looking at them over and over and over in the store, I bet the i525 will be a little more forgiving than the 225. The sole is a smidge bigger. The blade length is a smidge longer. I would venture that Ping has pushed MOI a bit further with their toe screw and even just looking at the toe end of the club the Ping has a bit more mass out there. 

 

That said, the clubs are much-much more similar than they are different. A mizuno purist will say the 225's feel clicky. It's not like we're comparing super soft vs rock hard. Teeny differences. I think you're splitting hairs between the two clubs but the size/sole vs feel are the two spots they slightly differ. Trackman numbers from a few different testers on youtube show very similar numbers.

Is it just me, or does it look like the scoring lines on the 225 go too far towards the toe?

Just a heads up to everyone.  Roger Dunn just called and said they received my i525’s just now.  Two weeks earlier than the release date.  So they are shipping early.  Bummer they will close before I can get down there today, so picking them up tomorrow after work.

What shafts did you order?

Order placed for me on 03/04, just got a call they arrived. Less than 2wk turn. Nothing special with my order (black dot, std L/L/L, DG 120). Still, very impressed by Ping on the service. 

 

I have a feeling Ping (and Mizuno) is going to really out deliver other brands this year. They're clearly focused on their Supply Chain. The Titleist delivery thread is INSANE... 6mth or more lead time haha

I just was notified my order has arrived also (Puetz Golf Seattle). DG105 shaft, orange lie, -.5", MMC grips, 4-Gap.

I ordered them on 2/18 and was told they would ship out on 3/24. So Ping probably doing the "under promise and over deliver" thing right now with these i525 orders. Can't wait to pick the up and start doing the yard gapping on them.

Any reports of orders arriving that aren’t on the west coast?! 
 

Edit: Got a hold of my Ping order number, called them, and they indicated that dealers should not be giving them out earlier than the 24th release date, so I shouldn’t expect to see it until that day or later. 
 

With regard to my order (placed in early Feb), Ping indicated that many i525 heads are currently in quality control, and if they pass, will supply The majority of the preorders around the release date, including mine. 
 

They also said no stock shortages with stock grips or the Project X IO shaft.

I preordered mine with Project X 6.5.  For what it's worth, I have an estimated delivery date of 4/7.  Not sure if that's accurate or not.

I have been prepared to be patient and not even consider mine getting to me before the end of the month.  Thanks to a few of you, I'm now officially impatient.  Screw you guys that are already getting yours.  Just sayin.😛

I had a chance to get a buy a set of 4-U today but they are 6.0 and my old arse needs 5.5. Even though I love my 225s, Ping has always been home since the original Eye irons. So, no doubt they will be in the rotation.

Hey. I was just in a shop in Kalamazoo Mi.. They have a set of  I525's 3-PW on the sales floor $1499.99. So much for waiting for March 24th. I hope everyone gets their orders early.  Good Luck to all.

Placed order February 20, arrived at my Fitter's March 19, I am going in to pick them up tomorrow. Can't wait!

I was able to pick up my irons yesterday, and am playing Wednesday and Saturday, but made it to the range yesterday and today with them. They are as advertised; softer feel than the i500's, I like the look of them a bit more than my 500's, shorter toe to heel frames the ball nicely,  and they are a bit longer, but I noticed it more when I missed shots that I did not seem to lose as much distance.

 

I will report back once I have played a few rounds with them. I am very happy with my purchase.

Got to demo the i525 7 iron today, and it felt surprisingly good, easier to hit than the i210 for me.  That said, I think if I had to choose, the 225 feels just a slight bit better all over the face.  But I wouldn't be surprised to see i210 players bounce for the i525.

Good to hear. I play the I210’s but I’m waiting on my I525 order.

I got the label created from FedEx notification on 3/15. Picked up today, I was getting Antsy…. Will be here tomorrow, local to Az.

Yeah - just 4 through UW, red dot, with Alta CB slates and tour velvet grips. Standard length and lofts.
