KBS C-taper's - love em or hate em?

I was fitted into C-tapers (120) as I had high spin numbers and a fast transition. Ive played with them for about 4 months and I am still confused whether I love em or hate em. When I flush the shot, they are an incredible shaft. The feeling really is nice. Tight dispersion, low launch, low spin and plenty of distance.

Any time I dont hit it clean, the shafts punish you. Hard vibration, tough to get into the air, etc.

Curious what everyones thoughts are on the C-tapers? Love em or hate em?

Side note - Ive noticed not too many guys on tour play the c-taper (other than Woodland). Most play the kbs tour 120/130.

It's been maybe 10 years since I gave them a swing, but I still remember hating them. A lot.

I'm a ~170 driver ball speed guy and the 130x feels like a 2x4 to me. The feel alone was a deal breaker despite getting decent numbers out of them.

Normal KBS Tour all day if I'm forced into playing KBS. Nippon > Everything IMO.

I didn’t like the for exactly what you’re feeling. They just punished my hands. Ball flight was ok but I found them inconsistent

Best performing shaft I have ever played, but so punishing on my body.  I had to stop using because of shoulder and elbow pain.

I switched to c taper lites and have noticed some elbow pain. Not sure if there is correlation as I went from tour 130x to 110 c taper lite stiff. Love the shaft and ball flight so hoping this isn’t the case

I played CTapers 130x from the year they were released up until last summer. I made the move to X7s as I was just looking for a change. CTapers were very good for me, but the X7 is even better. Same launch and spin windows, but they feel better and somehow they hit it straighter than CTaper. For the guys playing the lighter weights in CTapers the X7 isn’t an option, but the PX LS was on my radar also. That me be another good choice.

I’ve played 125 S+ in college and now am in 120’s.  No problem with the shafts at all, been over a decade in ctapers.  I’ve played flighted project x’s in 6.0’s , modus 125’s and s400’s in the last few years.   Hated the Modus, project x lead to moon ball on full shots and the s400’s were the second best next to the ctapers.   I’d like to swing the $-taper on a monitor and see how they are in comparison.

You just summed it up.  I had a set of c-tapers when kbs first released them.  At the time, I was coming off the kbs tour and the PX 6.5.  Did not get along with those for different reasons.  Like you, I was looking for something low/low.  C-tapers fit the bill.  When flushed, they were perfect.  Enough height, low spin tight dispersion.  Problem is, when you mis hit one, it hurts.  I mean out of every steel shaft I have tried or gamed, these hurt the most.  If I remember correctly, that was also the time I broke one of the bones in my right hand.  I noticed it after a range session.  So like you, I have a love hate/relationship with them.

Haven't been playing them for too long - maybe 6 months total?  I got them in irons and wedges.  I too feel a bit of a love/hate.

Hate: They are very unpleasant on off hits and I feel like there's definitely a lot of vibration and noise.  For me they're the best in punch and 3/4 shots, I'm guessing where my AoA is like -5*.  I also feel like I've lost some spin on chip shots too.

Love: BUT MAN do they go straight.  I had one today, weak heely 6 iron and it only ended upfalling away like 10 yards. Irons and wedges are always on a rope.  It's pretty amazing.

Man, I really don’t get the talk about KBS CT being hard on anything. I’m 41, relatively neutral -3-4 AOA and max out at 96mph 6 iron SS and play the 125’s in CT and $T HT, and have no issues.

How on earth are people getting hurt or injured on swinging these?

Does anyone not take care of their bodies or train outside of lifting your wallet from your carts to pay for the Coor’s Latte and hot dogs?

Are all of you hitting off hard pan and -7 AOA or playing off root structures below surface levels?

I get not liking the linear feel because 99% of people don’t load/unload properly anyway with any golf shaft, including myself.
