After having some decent drives this year happy to finally see Alonso on the podium. Final two races are going to be great. Hope its decided on the track.

He drove perfect. Being in the 5th fastest car on the grid, that was all him. Gasley even said he couldn't match him.

Wish Fernando had a better car. It's crazy they aren't done with that track yet. Hopefully no corners are cut to get it completed and its safe

 

I don't care who wins the title between Lewis and Max but I have a feeling that the Belgium GP clusterf**k with the half points awarded is going to play a factor in the title. I know how they awarded points is in the rule book but that "race" cost Hamilton 5 points.

LOL the same as many tennis and futbol players have done for a lifetime. As many F1 drivers have. That said early thoughts on the track speed and layout? The race could be a disaster.

Yeah, that track looks nutty. Most of the corners are blind and the walls make it even worse. I think it was Gasley that said there won't be many small accidents.

 

Hope the F2 guys can help get some rubber down. It should be a fun quali.

There is absolutely no run off on that track. Max had a great lap going until that final corner.

I was actually thinking the last ten laps the best thing would be for them to both go out and just go for it next week.  Bottas' crap under the safety car, then Hamilton on the restart(since no one seemed to know that it's ok to do that then, bad rule), Verstappen's "pass" at turn 1... it was one big clustertruck...

Sad to see Kimi go, but it is time, been a fun ride watching his career. A little more reliability and he would have had multiple driver titles, still the last to bring it home for the Scuderia.

 

I hope Max wins the title this year.

There is so much solid young talent that the older guys are having a much tougher time.

 

I hope with next year's cars that it will me more driver and less car. It would be nice to get back to 3-4 teams fighting for the title vs 2.

Practice looked good. Lando looked fast and Yuki was faster than Gasley. I would love to see Yuki do well next year.

Sure you do, sort of, Nascar does it on every single restart - or at least they used to when I stopped watching a few years back. Every restart you had one car getting the "free pass".

 

I'm a Hamilton fan but IMO they screwed up in not covering Max on his first pit stop. No reason not to bring Lewis in then, I'm not buying the "track position" excuse they gave him. They would have been on the same tire rotation with the clearly faster car.

True on the free pass but let either all the lapped cars go ahead or none because I thought there were more than 5. Perhaps the others didn’t really count since they were so far back and they were getting close to the start line again. Agree with you on the pit. Max pitted 3 and Hamilton only 1.

I'm just glad they gave Max a valid lap to win it. Mercedes has had the pace the last 4 races, Max didn't have a chance without fresh softs.

Same. If the roles were reversed it would have been Toto on the horn bitching at Michael Masi and not Christian - so...whatever. It was an awesome season, came down to the last race, last lap. Cant ask for more than that.

 

Really looking forward to seeing how the new car behaves next year. Going from 13" tires to 18" low profile tires seems like a *massive* change that they barely even talked about on the broadcasts this year.

Yeah, I think it will be very different if Russell shows he has pace. Botas was basically made #2 way back in 2018. Mercedes claim it's level like it seems to be at Ferrari.
