The day Tiger lost all claim to being the GOAT: The 2009 PGA Championship choke

I agree with this with 1 exception, Wayne Gretzky, plus his daughter is extremely easy on the eyes.

Mario Lemieux is more talented and a better scorer than Wayne was. Shame he was always injured. His numbers are absolutely ridiculous given his career.

He was far too conservative on Saturday. He was laying up from 240 yards on par 5s, lagging every putt that wasn't 5 feet. He never shot at a pin. And then on Sunday he put up a 75 to lose a chance at the 15th major.

This is the day Tiger lost all claim to being the GOAT. He folded like a cheap lawn chair. Ye Yang looked like the Tiger woods of the mid 200s when he hooked his hybrid to 4 feet on 18th.

Here is a recap of the chokejob Tiger had

Give credit where its due, AcesAZ called this immediately after the fact

Tiger Woods was never the same after that. He was embarrassed on the national stage. Exposed as no longer unbeatable after 54 holes.

That Sunday in August of 2009 showed why Tiger is not, and never will be the GOAT

Perhaps contemplating other thread topics:

-Should I play blades, or something more forgiving?

-Modern equipment/distance is killing the game.

-Whatup with Anthony Kim?

-RC Cola is better than Coke.  Prove me wrong.

They still have RC Cola?!

Man, last time I had RC like middle school get a slice and RC for like 45 cents!

Oh, and these cans!

Ah, very nice.  You know, I live in the pacific northwest, and selman fishing from a heyak has become quite popular.

Great fishing up there.

During my extended recovery, I read The Ground Beneath Her Feet by Selman Rushdie.  He went through four divorces, talk about about marital problems.  One settlement required him to give up 50% of his stake in Korean carmaker Heyakdai.

First, welcome to the community, it's great to have ya👊

Secondly, I get it! I really do!!

You're new, you wanna make a lil noise and get noticed in a sea of fake avatar fictitious named anonymous 🐑sheep🐑, so ya load 'er up and fire one across the bow of all the Tiger worshipers.

Without reading any of the prior posts(I never have prior to posting my own asinine thoughts, sentiments and opinions🤪), I'm pretty sure that you've been called an idiot, troll & hater!!

However, in my eye👁(I'm legally blind in my left😉), you are none of these as while I do not agree that that PGA slip cost Tiger the GOAT claim any more than Jack missing the cut in the 1976 World Open, which at that time had THE strongest competitive field on earth, though I most definitely think that inside, mentally, it caused Tiger to blink for the first time in his Pro career, and for at least a split second, realize that he couldn't just tuck his 54 hole lead into his bag, show up and do a victory stroll through that final 18 in the Majors.

Tiger being Tiger, and if you yourself have ever competed at the highest level as an Amateur or a Pro, regardless of the sport, and I am being serious here, not facetious, then you know that mindset is EVERYTHING at the highest levels, either as Ams or as Pros, with that blink having the ripple effect mentally to that competitor that the "butterfly effect" has to our earth  regarding outcomes🌎~

Basically, a minor blip in our brain/on the radar screen can cause a major change in future outcomes.

That said, I have no doubt that Tiger did along with telling the man in the mirror, what every elite competitor does, that that stroll down the fairways that Sunday with Yang was a fluke, a joke and a once in a lifetime occurrence, as it was nothing more than the Big Guy lettin Tiger know that yes, he was human, and along with David, Vijay & Hal, even a guy like a Yang could take him down if he wasn't totally focused and performing at his highest level.

The reason that I do not give your OP any credence really has nothing to do with that day, that Tourney or Yang and EVERYTHING to do with two numbers.....

1) EIGHTEEN

2) THIRTY SEVEN

I'm not going to insult your golf IQ by posting anything else regarding them & their significance.

While I have always loved Tiger's competitiveness and Mental Game, and as you do not know me, my posting history or my thoughts on the game, well, I'll leave it at be you a Plus or be you a Pro, MENTAL GAME is number 1 AND 2 in the 3 most critical factors to an elite competitor/athlete's ability to compete and win, and for Tiger, well, he decimated the minds of his peers unlike any other golfer in the history of the game, with the exception of David, Vijay & Hal, including Jack, who if ya haven't guessed, in my GOAT🐐😊

So, I applaud you on your Opening Thread, it appears by its length that you posted an opinion with legs, however anyone can show up, throw up🤮, and then scadaddle back into the gallery, another faceless, fake nameless minion amongst the hundreds of thousands of members/fans.

Those guys are a nickel a dozen, and Lord knows, around here, you could squeeze a couple dozen for .2-.3.

Na, I wanna see what ya bring for your next OP😉

Stay Well Brotha, relish the limelight and have a great week🍻

RP

Ouch, that company has a lot of upside, it must have been painful putting that selma order in with his broker.  But I can't feel too bad for the guy, after all he was with Padma Lakshmi for several years.  She's a heyak of a catch, and what a looker.
