Details pretty much don't matter as the last three drivers I've used have performed about the same (no surprise here). But this using this club is the single strongest contributor to scoring. I would lose multiple strokes per round if I didn't have a driver in the in bag.

 

I can't say that for any other club except the putter (which again, doesn't matter which one I use as long as I have a  putter.) But I didn't choose putter because it's sorta the non-interesting choice. While you can "putt" with other clubs, not having a putter is really strange.

 

For me, it's all about getting the ball off the tee as far as possible while still keeping it in play. Not necessarily fairways, but in play. 

 

But, since the rules of the thread were to put details out here - Ping G400. 9 degrees - stock length, standard loft setting. 

Yup.  As I drive so shall I score, generally.  

 

TSI4, Autoflex 505x, 47", jumbomax tour medium.  Just money.  Totally agree on G400 too.  That is my backup.  

 

Close 2nd is Glide 3.0 56*.

today it was G425 5H - but I only had five clubs. 🙃. After a range session I played two holes. Honorable mention to the G425 5W on the par 5 - hit it twice (tee, fairway) then a short pitch and putting for birdie. The next hole was a par 4, hit 5W off the tee, then had about 195y into the green. I'm still figuring out the hybrids but I figure the 5H should be about a 175 club. I hit it into a setting sun and had no idea where it went (other than it felt good). Dropped another ball (no one on the course) and hit - same thing, couldn't see a damn thing. Walk up to the green and find both balls just short of the left side of the green. I mean like they were 5 feet apart. Chipped both up, sank one, 2-putted the other.

 

I had a brief spat with the hybrid (and the 5W) early on but apparently we've made up and the confidence meter is climbing. Irons - still a work-in-progress. Good strikes are fantastic, but too many not-good-strikes. Stupid game...

Historically, I’ve been a really terrible wedge player inside 100yds for a 6 handicap. Not sure if my swing and this grind just fit well together, but I’ve been throwing darts on anything 110 or closer. It was always gutting being inside 100 yards on a par 4 and making bogey.  

What are your thoughts on the 6.5 in the wedge? Does it just feel like a board? I play 6.5 standards in my irons and tour v 130's in the wedges.

Callaway xR OS 3H. Easy 200-220 club for me. Sometime I won’t even hit my driver because I am so much more accurate with the hybrid

The Toulon Columbus putter is on fire right now. I did some grip changes to midsize on all my woods and hybrids and hope it makes a difference.

Titleist 818H1 27* hybrid with Atmos TS Blue.  The 21* got me to finally love hybrids, but the 27 is the MVP.  Covers a huge gap, can hit it higher than any mid-iron, it's even handy for chipping on firm turf.

Wedge. Wedge game is typically the strength for me. Saves bad rounds. Makes average rounds into good ones.

Cleveland RTX 4 56 - DGS400

 

I don't hit a lot of greens, so I'm scrambling a lot.  I had a round a week ago where I hit only 3 or 4 greens, but shot 81 because I was getting up and down.  I use the 56 for 90% of my work around the green

My Ping G425 5 wood has become my best club in the bag

Yesterday, I got 6 inches from the hole from 205 yards out in the bunker with 4 hybrid.

As of today I would say the Sim Max 7 wood after changing the grips to GP Plus 4 Midsize. It was too active before, and settled down with the grip change.

1st: 55 degree TM Hi Toe wedge… I’m pretty lethal with it from 105 and in, it’s also money out of bunkers. I always look forward to hitting it because I know I can go pin hunting!

 

2nd: 15 degree SIM Ti 3W with HZRDS smoke green 6.0 shaft. The shaft is a little too soft for me in any other club other than this one. It goes straight, or draws on command, typically the draw is what I like. I cannot hit a cut or fade with it, so it eliminates the right side of the course. It’s insanely easy to hit off the deck and I crush this thing. It also feels fantastic. It’s a really good intimidation tool off the tee because I can get it out past 270 if I step on it… really pisses my buddies off when I out drive them with a 3W!
