2021 Volunteers of America Classic (Jul 01 - 04)

Recommended Posts

I live in DFW and this event is not being talked about at all. Most years there is some pub about it. Not this year. Everyone above is talking about how weak the field is. I bet the crowds are going to be even weaker so to speak.

This would be a good event for a big name that needs a first win (Gerina Piller, Charley Hull, Cheyenne Woods) or a big name that hasn’t won in a while (Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie) to get a win.

Married to Callaway Clubs but I cheat with Nike Clubs on occasion.

Do you ever go to sleep?

But , seriously, how can Cheyenne pass a tournament like this!  It's very clear that her priority is no longer on her own golf career.

Ya I'm kinda shocked too why Cheyenne isn't playing.

I learned yesterday that she'll be working the upcoming "Match" on July 6.

I hope Charles Barkley is working too....the guy is so funny especially how he trashes Tiger.

I think it should be good with FIGJAM Lefty vs. Juice Boy Bryson.

Lizette grated my nerves. She’s the Latina crusty.

Crustina??

Amongst one of the reasons why I was truly rooting for Hinako in 2019 -- wouldve been crushed if Hinako didn't win after seeing her in Japan ☺︎   Shouldve asked for her autograph then... Oh well, maybe in 2022 in Ottawa...

Pairings are out and Maria Fassi has been added to the field.

Maybe Maria will be unleashed this week; this field looks more like the NCAA fields she used to dominate all the time.

The NCAA fields didn't include a long time #1 player in the world and major champions.  She won't be dominating this tournament

This course looks like the local dog run

With our recent HEAT DOME....this is what many public courses look like with patchy burn out areas.

The course I have an annual pass looks like this.

Many courses here watered the courses well during the heat wave to prevent losing the course....greens also are a tad furry and slow too.

Lol. Jin Young, did you know that you fell from the #1 spot?

"Here, hold my Hite".

Looks like I correctly predicted that Judy would be back in the booth. Nice to hear her voice.

I'm actually surprised they were able to get the course in "playable" shape in such a short period of time.

WTH

Dumbo shoots a 64 and we don't see 1 shot during coverage nor a post rd interview.

Sadly, that's typical.  I turned off the TV when she finished and they had not shown a single shot.

I was glad that Grant and Judy walked us through why the course looks the way it does at the start of the broadcast, my recollection is that Old American has been in really nice condition at previous events and the current appearance of some of the fairways would have definitely caused a double take or a WTF.

Not being a Texan I have no idea what time of year is ideal for this event but I'm pretty sure the first week in July ain't it.

It was one of the hardest hit courses in the area during our bad February ice storm.

They shouldn't be playing on that course it just doesn't grow grass well there for what ever reason. The tribute across the street has history of  bad greens that they have to replace a lot. So many issues it was better when it was in Los Colinas.  They also used to get a better field.

After this year if they do not get a better course I expect the LPGA will leave DFW and go somewhere else in Texas like the the woodlands.

Looks like this will be a while... (even if it's not the same golf course....)... VOA is notorious for this at this time of the year anyways... flooding in the parking lot even LOL

Minor flooding will occur upstream from the gage, near the city golf course, as controlled releases continue.

The fairways are just a tad soft as they have been watering them to avoid further issues.

The HEAT DOME here has been devastating and moving east across Western Canada.

500+ heat related deaths.

Lytton, BC set several all time high Canadian heat records and then on Wed afternoon...raging fires basically burnt the town down/away.

We are unfortunately on track for another record setting bad year for forest fires....I assume the same will occur in parts of the US too.
