Going to Ping for PLD fitting

The fitting experience was absolutely awesome. Ended up with the Kushin double bend in stainless with no mill for the best sound off the face.  They can't do a sound slot in the PLD line Jeff said.  Was pleasantly surprised when I rolled putts with the Kushin as it has a wonderful sound and feel.  Going to try it without any milling but very well could send it back for the small milling to dampen it slightly.  We shall see.  Over the moon with the experience and can't wait to get the putter in about 3 weeks. Will post photos once it arrives.  They had a tour-sized Oslo (smaller head) that was awfully intriguing but the Kushin won out.

I would never pay $1200 for the personal pld putter when I could buy the retail pld putter for $450 when they come out.

Cool.  They are two different markets though - one is for 1/1, unique, custom fit putters (with a wider range of heads and finishes) and the other is for high-end off-the-rack.

All good. The retail ping pld is 303 same material in the tour only Cameron’s that people pay $5000 for. As fir the range in heads that’s why I only mentioned the anser and anser 2 in black or stainless. It may also end up being that they will offer more heads shapes. Nobody knows anything at this point.

The sound slot on feels right with the manganese bronze head. Never feels the same in the stainless.

PLD putter was supposed to be here by now but still waiting.  I did go back and ask them if they could do something they have never done before and they are accommodating my request.  Said they have never been asked for this.  Will share what this is when the putter shows up!  Hopefully, I get confirmation it is on its way next week.

Are you asking Ping to attach a telescope contraption on the shaft of the putter so you can align every putt the same way - therefore, being a monster on the greens so you can sip from the keg that's in your golf bag? 

 

If so, that's already been done before.

That PLD with a top line looks amazing.  Seems like you had a great experience and that is really all it is about.  You walked out of there with a great experience, more confidence, and a new stick you are excited to use..........that is tough to beat!

Okay, here is my custom Kushin 4 PLD putter!  35", 1 degree flat, stainless RAW finish, double lines on top ball width apart to help with my alignment, navy paint fill for PING letters on the back, midsize grip, 3 degrees of loft....and oh yeah...something Ping has never done before, not even for the Tour players.  First and only one in the world like it!  Dancing Ping Man logo laser etched all over the sole.  Turned out crazy good!

That's unique for sure, also does that have a flat/smooth milled face or is it very light horizontal lines?

Very light horizontal lines, no milling.  I can add that later if I want to dampen the sound off the clubface.

how do you go about even setting up a PLD fitting. i dont see any into on it on their site? is it thru your local club or a ping rep or something along those lines

I love that sole.

 

I do think putters are getting entirely too expensive. I'm starting to think the best route for a while is a good used Redwood.

That's an incredible putter - love everything about it, and the sole is genius!!!

You need a club pro who specializes in Ping club fitting.  They can setup the fitting in Phoenix for you.

Looks similar to the subtle horizontal lines milled into the Anser Milled line years ago.  What did you request for the milling to turn out like this on the face (looks great)!

 

I absolutely love the dancing Pingman logos on the sole & your flat topline.

I did not do any milling because I was striving for a little more sound as the ball contacts the face.  I am an auditory guy when it comes to putting feel and sound is important to me.  Decided to go without milling for now.  If sound is too loud I can always send back and they can add one of three different depths of milling.  The deeper the milling the quieter the putter is.  Just got out to the course the other day for the first time with it and so far I like the sound.

Thanks!  You need to keep in mind that the price of this putter includes an in-depth putter fitting in Ping's Putting Lab with those who fit and build them for the tour players.  It really is a good value when you combine that with a putter that has been built to fit every need with your putting.  Far better price than going to Scotty Cameron for the same thing.
