MtlJeff's Blade/Players-Distance/SGI winter extravaganza (Now featuring 40% more dogs!)

I've resorted to thinking that I really only need 2 sets of irons (BS, I know), in my i210s and set of blades for fun.  Currently have a Srixon 745/945 split set (4/5 745, 6-P 945) and a set of Scratch SB1 heads that I want to get shafted and try out.  Problem being I also keep eyeing some JPX 900 Tours and T100's...

I almost pulled the trigger on the PXG's around xmas given the price drops.  Having no experience with the Elevate Tours stopped that.  Well, and wanting to also buy some 0311T's to try out...

Went to a pxg fitting today. Tried to get the 0211DC to work but just couldn’t. Moved on to the 3gen P and liked those more but their performance was no different than the i200. Was winding down with and getting ready to continue forward with i200 but decided to try the 0211st before leaving… These were the ticket. I couldn’t stop striping them. The balance and feel were just right for me. Didn’t think they’d be that easy to hit. I know I’ll probably have some bad days with them but I’m excited to get them in the bag.

MTLJeff - how have the shafts been feeling for you?

My 0211ST have c-tapers and they are stiffer than rebar.  I am thinking about putting in the Tour Elevates or Modus 120.

The Elevate Tour is a good shaft for me for Blades. They are higher launching and spinning as they are advertised. I always used Ctaper or S300 (or Modus 130) in other irons, but that's because i usually play GI or SGI clubs

As long as you know that, they are good shafts. They aren't flimsy , they are fairly stout and hold up to fast swings. They just launch high.

My launch with each PXG iron is higher than either my Forged TEC / Modus or G410/S300 combos. Granted they are higher lofted....but still were talking about blades launching 1-2 degrees higher than G series

I have an ugly confession I only feel comfortable sharing in the company of dogs.

I played a set of CBs today. P7MCs to be exact. I'd found some heads only on eBay which was like a direct assault on my club building obsession that exists right now.

So I bought those heads. And built and set 'em up. And played them in my round today with my father-in-law and extreme wind; where I needed some real response to my clever shotmaking skillz.

They weren't BAD. In fact, I hit a couple hero shots. But they were lacking so much in feel, man.

The P7TW are back in the bag. Though; the OG Nike forged heads I've sent off to be refinished will be back here soon which I may just treat like a newborn child and build back up into some sort of glorious harmony of all I've learned while simultaneously achieving my personal standard of "strange and unusual." - Lydia Deetz

We'll see.

Unpopular take, I actually think the P7TW are more playable than the P7MC.

It wasn't so much that I found them unplayable or hard to hit or anything. I just didn't enjoy hitting them - and I hit a good grip of kinda rad shots ... cuz that's what you do in the wind.

I guess there's no accounting for feel. And the handful of misses I had (let's not talk about that 7 on #14) would have been just as crappy.

Anyway. Anyone want some P7MC's 3-PW? 😂

Took the 0211st into the wild this afternoon for the first time. Played 9 at my local and was even through 8 before putting myself into a short sided bunker on 9. Long story short, I was very impressed by these irons. I’m sure it helps that this is the first set I’ve ever been fit for but they are just so easy to swing and the turf interaction is so much better for me than the pings.

I had my first "real" round today with the 0211 blades, by real i mean 10C and a quality course with nice greens, also there was no wind today so pretty ideal conditions

I really hit the irons well. I have said prior that my ballstriking has never been better so this needs to be taken into consideration---But i had ZERO issues with any of the clubs. The Elevate Tour gave me a near perfect trajectory

I shot 74 today with a double on 17, and had 4 birdies. My iron play was near-perfect. This is my second round of the year LOL

2 of my birdies were off 6-iron approaches. One was a level ground 187yd lasered distance with a 6 that is fairly weak lofted all things considered for 2022. I just nuked it, with a towering flight.

I hit a green from 209yd (lasered) with a 4 iron. Hit another green slightly downhill from 198yds with a 5 iron.

I did not miss one green all day with iron in hand unless my view was obstructed due to a poor drive.

We'll see.

We have similar taste in clubs. I have played a set of Nike Victory Red TW's for years. I don't play as much as I did in years past, so I have started looking for something a little more forgiving. I lasted about a month with a set of Apex Pro's and another month with Forged Tec's. The Victory Reds are back in the bag.

I just now ordered a set of 0211 ST's. I'm debating on selling my Victory Red's so that I don't keep swapping back to them. 🤣🤣
