So , i finally had the day i was looking for...It took many months , but i finally had a bit of an "off" day. It turns out, being such a magnificent striker of the ball has it's downsides--i wasn't really able to evaluate forgiveness.

I'd say a slightly off center hit, or hitting say a tiny bit fat--was costing me a good 10 yards.

By the end of my session i was not really feeling it, and i probably hit 5 balls in a row (6 iron) at 170 yards or less carry. Typically 6 iron is about 180. Just a little bit off, little out towards the toe, or a bit fat...and it's like a 163 carry, you know that sort of thing.

Anyway, i'm hoping i won't have too many days like this on the course. It was definitely noticeable, and i for sure felt i would've gotten more out of the Cobras

Would that be typical of most/all blades on off center strikes?

I would assume so. This is my first set of blades I've hit for an extended period on a trackman

Gotcha.  I thought I remember you playing g410's....that's more what I'm used to as far as playability, but the pull to more of a players set up is real😎

After some warmup and stuff, 7 consecutive 6 irons with a maximum distance variance of 3.4yds

Pretty nice distance control with those blades!

Wasn't as good with the 7 iron. 4.9 yards from shortest to longest

Was also a bit tired after whaling away on some drivers

Finally got to hit the blades "outside", which in Montreal at this time of year is in a giant inflatable dome. I used to go to this place a lot but since i moved, it's like 45 minutes away and i have a trackman down the street as mentioned. So i hadn't been in a while

But i really wanted to see the ballflight and not just hit into monitors. This range also has used NXT tours as it's balls do it's pretty decent to hit them

Man it is FUN to hit blades well. Even the beat up NXT tours felt really really good. There's a slightly different feel to hitting the ball with such a smaller, thinner iron too--it's a lot crisper. The trajectory was great, the Elevate Tour shafts were a great call here---really offsets the lower launch i'd get with blades and they feel really stable.

Also, had no issue hitting straight balls with the 0211 ST. Pretty decent ballstriking day. Not my best but good

I have to draw those marks on my irons before I go play so my irons can "pose" in my bag while I have breakfast, lol.

If you look carefully--The 6 iron had one really close to the hosel which i wasn't super pleased with

And that 5 iron shot that is further out towards the toe actually went really well. I remember hitting and thinking that ball flew better than i thought it would

What are your thoughts on thin strike distance loss overall with these? I actually need a lower launching iron, strike it pretty centered but my miss is thin. Previous blades I've owned lose a ton of distance on thin strikes but am curious on these. TIA!

It's not like a GI for sure, my Cobra TECs are more forgiving. I think i mentioned it maybe a page ago but i had a day where my striking was definitely off, and i was losing like 10-12 yards of carry on some swings . I feel like out towards the toe is typically worse, maybe because there's less weight there

Days where the swing isnt as good i'd guess i'm losing 4-5 yards more on slight mishits than with a GI, plus it's not enjoyable to mishit a blade. It just feels bad

Thin mishits i wouldn't say are as bad FWIW

I am currently playing the 0211 ST and my normal miss is the thin shot since i get lazy and come off the ball.    I am in total agreement with MtlJeff that the thin miss is NOT horrible - I would say around 5-7 yards and you know it immediately in your hands.    That feel alone makes sure you dont do that again in the near future.  🙂      I have the Gen4 0311ST irons as well and I will say the 0211ST feel better and are better for me on my normal misses.    My other miss is closer to the heel and my loss of yardage is slightly higher but still not horrible.

Side Note:  I removed all the paint from the 0211ST's and now I have a very simple looking club. I really like that simplistic look.

To  keep with the dog theme as well - my pup - Shiloh had a birthday yesterday so we got her a few toys that she destroyed in the same day.   She is now 3 years old so I guess officially is not a pup anymore.

Nice.

Good looking dog.   Before the senior border collie passed last May, toys lasted minutes.  But she was an artist.  lol

Thanks for wearing clean socks.  😉

For anyone interested - I was using TI X100's in the 0211ST but recently switched to the MMT 105TX shaft and it has been exceptional.   It only takes around 4-6 rounds before my elbows go crazy with aching pains so I had to do something.    Getting old sucks!!!

The MMT's are outstanding shafts.   I tried both 105 and 125 versions and just liked the 105TX better than the 125TX.    The weight is still there even though the ST heads are light.   I am at D3 across the board and they have been perfect.   I need to update my signature to reflect my backup set is now the Gen4 ST's since the 02111ST have taken the pole position again.

Love this thread. I’m currently in i200’s and I like them but don’t love them. I shoot well with them but send them a little high and spinny. And I never use the U wedge.

With the prices of PXG it’s getting hard to not pull the trigger. I’m not good enough to play 4-6 in the blades but I think I could handle 7-p. With the ability to order individual irons I looked at building a unique set. All elevate tours stiffs off 37”
0211 DC

5-21*
6-26*

0211 ST

7-32*
8-37*
9-42*
P-47*

This will lead into my 54* wedge. That covers a lot of ground for 6 clubs and come in just over $500!  Obviously there might be a gap issue between 6-7 but I wonder if that’s manageable. I’m sure they won’t blend well visually either but I could get over that. 🤔🤔

Also, this is a Frank.

While looking for some good real life reviews of the 0211 STs, I missed this thread due to the title.

Super helpful to hear your experiences with them.

My thinking has been if you ever want to experiment with proper blades, there isn't a cheaper way to do it. You could find a non-thrift store set for maybe $60 per banged up club, but why would you do that when you can get these new for a little bit more?

I gotta be honest after spending all week hitting my Forged TECs into my net, i'm kinda craving them again.

I went to the sim today and hit the 0211's. Went really well

Gonna monitor this. Man the TECs just feel so solid. They feel like they explode off the face. And my numbers were very consistent with them

Probably gonna start season with the blades, but we'll see
