I guess i'll update this thread. Sadly this winter hasn't gone the way i'd hoped so far. My golf place is still open but Covid capacity limits have made it really challenging to use the trackman. The local pro is a friend of mine and he's usually on it giving lessons. It's harder to get times due to overall capacity regulations. it's not always available....Plus i'm a lot busier with work as i took a new job

 

I have been playing a lot of virtual golf though. But i've been mostly using the PXG blades just because they are new and sexy

 

I'm getting really comfortable with the irons. My last 4 rounds have been 72,71,72,67. Now this is INDOOR golf so it's not golf. But my ballstriking and distance control has been very good. Today i hit 17 GIRs in a row before choking on the 18th hole and bogeying it.

 

I'm shockingly confident with the 4-5 irons. This was always my biggest fear with blades. But at least indoors it's been totally fine.

 

I have a par 3 at my home course that is 205yds over water---we'll see how much i like the 4 iron then. But so far--Really good.

As i said in the other thread...I just can't endorse the idea that everyone should be playing clubs like this though. I know that isn't always popular.

 

Earlier this week i hit some balls at 9AM when it was -35C out. So i walked in stiff and cold....And my first few swings were an abomination. And they went nowhere LOL. And they felt terrible. I mean a little off center and there is noticeable distance loss and you feel like an idiot.

 

Hitting my Forged TEC, which are not massive clubs at the end of the day. They feel HUGE by comparison.

 

I'm not trying to be a pr*ck or anything but i'm a really good iron player, i feel confident hitting the PXGs...But it took me years of practice to get to where i can sit that 5 iron behind the ball and feel confident i can stripe it with a blade

But again--if you WANT to play blades because you like them and it makes golf more fun for you---by all means do it--I mean that i support

I hear you.  Freaking cold out and you've likely been at the business end of a shovel or snowblower for a while.  All things that translate into a good swing.  If it stops snowing here for a while, I might even get up the courage to hit the local golf dome and see if I still have any kind of game.

I've had decent luck with the long irons as well.  I'm a high handicap but my irons have been fairly solid for me.  I hit these long blades better than a fairway wood.  I'm playing tomorrow with them so Ill check back in afterwards.  Also, these irons look freaking good.

You’ve inspired me to buy the G410’s as they are the “cheat code” as you say. I went to them over my 716 AP2s mainly because of how infrequently I’m playing and practicing because of young kids (4 and 2 years old). 
 

But, I’m not biting on the PXG blades. They look beautiful much like my AP2’s, but the G410s are just easier as there is so much help on mishits. Love following this thread.

So after my epic fail with the Takomo 101's and then the country club fail with PXG, I am glad I got my Haywood blades yesterday. Played them today, 8 am tee time tomorrow to beat them again. Looks like blades for life. 🤣 (until my Haywood CB's get here next month)

I play g410s and it does feel like they’re cheating sometimes. Yesterday I holed one from 120 yards that had no right to go in. It was a terrible shot. As someone that has a 9 year old I don’t get much practice time and @MtlJeffis right, blades need practice. When I was playing 4/5 times a week I loved my mp32 but couldn’t play them now with practice of 2/3 times a month.

Ha ha I am a less than good golfer and played the par 3's from the tips and got though there with pars on three different actual rounds. The Par 4 was bogies each time (long hole for me) It is a really not all that hard without any pressure.

But you lit it up on the Sim, was that the blades? I certainly hope so...🙂

It was the blades and I was striping them baby!

 

5 foot gimmes setting (shortest possible) and I had three par 4 kick ins two par 5 kick ins

 

Big test will be they perform in the real world but in a trackman or indoor setting, great so far

I can't decide if I want to keep the 0211STs or sell/return them.  Played a couple times since I got them and by iron play has gone down.  I don't hard slice them (most of the time), but its an inconsistent "slow leak" to a medium fade.  The feel amazing on good shots though...

This is my #2 son's dog, watching him today while our boy has a medical procedure where he'll need to stay overnight.  His name is Kevin (full name Kevin Bacon Cheeseburger).  Might be obvious, but he's a Sheltie.

 

He likes to park on our sofa and just hang out.  🙂
