I will admit, FJ has really stepped up with this shoe model. I did get a pair of these, and they are excellent, this after avoiding FJ for many years.

What specifically do you like about this shoe?  I've worn Adidas for years because I can grab a size 11 and they will fit fine.  FJ and their sizing has never really fit me well, so I've avoided them mainly for that reason.

@hammergolf Man! What a story!  These are the types of post that make GolfWRX so awesome!   From my experience(s) around famous athletes / celebs - the less you treat them like celebs and chat with them like they’re regular people, they are more open to interact.  Sounds like that’s exactly what you did!  Talk about a once in a lifetime event / round of golf!

Yeah, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet many celebrities so I’m never in awe of them. I tend to treat them as just regular people. I remember about half way through the round one of my playing partners asked me how I was playing so well in front of him and if I was nervous. I told them “ no, why should I be. He beats the best players in the world on a daily basis, so I’m not going to impress him. He’s the best damn player ever, so It’s not like I’m going to beat him.” Which I didn’t, he shot the easiest 65 I’ve ever seen while making two bogeys…..

Well, I have said this from the minute that I walked out of the Nike Golf facility in Fort Worth ( the old Stites Golf Inc. facility) years ago. We had been wined and dined, showed some great presentations, they trotted out a few big names to shake hands. But after all that pomp and circumstance, there was no substance in the product. Nike is not a sporting goods company, they are not a sporting goods manufacturer; Nike is a marketing company through and through, that happens to sells some sporting goods!

This is evident in the entire life cycle of the Nike Golf brand. They have forgotten the core and try to keep up on the "cool" factor.

Well said.

To me, they feel as comfortable as trainer type shoe, but with firm stability. I used to FJ fitting chart on the website to measure my feet, and I am a half size smaller in FJ than what I usually wear.

Can’t speak for vitesse, but FJ are one of the few companies left that make a shoe that has a stiff sole to have better support and stability. Imho the FJ Dryjoys Tour shoes were the best ever. Still guys on tour wearing them (Cantlay and others) even though they have been discontinued for almost 2 years now. They have just such a stable platform and keep your foot much more stable than most of the lighter shoes available now.

Thanks for the input.  I like a stable shoe for when I play, which is why I've used the various iterations of the Tour 360 over the past few years.  I walk a lot, and they're very comfortable to me.  I don't mind the athletic golf shoes for the range, but I've never really been comfortable on the course with them.

I'll take a look at this model or one similar to it next time I'm in Golf Galaxy.

Kind of think we will see some version of this shoe from Nike in the upcoming pipeline.

It would definitely be a welcome addition. They used to really make some good shoes.

By all accounts Tiger just recently started walking Medallist which isn’t nearly as hilly as Augusta. Also the shoes he wore at the PNC were for an event that he rode a cart in. What worked prior to his injury clearly won’t work for him now. Even being a footwear giant like Nike doesn’t mean you can just churn out a working prototype in a matter of days. This is a situation where on the fly, the Footjoys were available to address what he needs. And if this means he’s moving away from Nike as a sponsor then cool, it gives us all some other nonsense to put our tinfoil hats over.

Besides, doesn’t this just mean we get to see Tiger in arguably the biggest tournament of the year?

Looks like he might be back to the rubber Pingman grip too...doesnt look like any cord in that pic unless it's the way the light is hitting it. He still had the Lamkin grip on at the PNC.

He was back to the Ping at the PNC. Don't remember what interview it was a while back, but he mentioned he'd gone back to it.

There's no room for logic on a message board when discussing Tiger Woods.  😂

But I agree with your assessment.

SP-8's were the best. The major colorways were even better.
