7 wood converts - tell me your experience

Took my 17 degree hybrid out and replaced it with a 7w. Much higher ball flight for my swing speed (about 88mph with the 7w at 42") but about the same distance.

7wood is gonna stay, but its not great for everything. It likes to go high, even when you are not trying to hit it high.

As @black bnr32said, it likes to move one way or the other, if you don't watch it...

I'm gonna keep the 20degree hybrid in the bag too, it's gotten me out of a few pickles, and it's a bit more versatile..

Currently have AD DI 7x in my three wood. Same shaft in 7 wood or 8x?

I would personally go heavier

Been converting myself mentally to using the 7 wood off the tee more instead of my driver or 4 wood on holes that need it. Theres about 2-3 on my home course. It's been performing really well in that role. I havent used my 4 wood in weeks, now, and the 7 wood has put me in a fantastic position each time. More control than the longer shafted clubs and I've tuned this tour issue Mavrik SZ 7 wood perfectly for my swing. Not a super high flight at all and low spin enough to cut through wind with only a small loss in distance but still flies straight.

with more time, am really liking this Callaway Rogue Max 7-w. Damn , its hot off the face, great  sound . Shallow face, perfect for me. Love the matte finish . Off the tee (tee it real low) or off the deck , easy to get airbourne. Thing just flies .

I was at the range tonight putting in a lot of iron work.  At the end I had about a half bucket to hit so turned my focus to fairway woods.  Is it normal to be absolutely giddy about how you are hitting your 7W or 4W?  I was.  Just one more, let's do it again.  Boom.  Another one.  Just silly stupid dropping balls from the sky 215 yards out.  Was just nails with that 7W and the 4W was just as awesome.  The 4W/7W combo is pretty good.

I mentioned in another thread that I had a 7w or years due to not ever getting along with hybrids. It was a club I could easily hit on tight holes or as my second shot on a par 5 (or long par 4). I've since replaced it with a Hy-Wood which kind of falls into that "might be a 7w or it might be a hybrid" territory and it's been even more consistent for me than the 7w was.

So is a Cleveland Hy-Wood kind of the same as the Callaway Apex UW?

I'm good with my 4W/7W combo.  Peaking on CPO, Apex UW at 21* is $255 Like New.  Dang you CPO.

No, I'm good, I'm good.

Can't live without my 7 wood, it is always money.

My PXG 0211 head with a 4 wood length shaft is perfect out of the rough and really long Par 3's.

since I carry a Rogue ST LS 3HL (16.5), I go straight to a Heaven-Wood (20 vs 21 degree, and 43" shaft), love it, high and 200+ in the air, exactly what I want as my first FW, 5 irons is like 190. Slowly, my PING G410 22 4H is leaving the lineup in place of an old PING EYE2+ 64 LW (my other wedges are Cleveland CBX Zipcore 54/58).

New head tech with old shaft tech

Callaway UW 21* w/ UST Proforce AxivCore Tour Green 95X tipped 3".  The PX  HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 80g 6.5 felt a little loose for me.  The heavily tipped 95g shaft is feeling way more consistent

I just hit a TM stealth 7 wood today and it was amazing.  215 yards consistently and if I stepped on it, I could get 225.  That was with a stock regular flex shaft in it too.  I immediately started looking for one.

Anyone know of a more fade biased 7wood?  I have the Rogue heavenwood and it is simply too draw biased.  Which has been my experience with some Callaway fairway woods over the years.

I have a Cobra F7 set to 22.5*.
I think the lie angle is 61* and cut down to 41” it plays more like a hybrid that launches REALLY high and spinny. I’m not a high spinny ball hitter. It stops on greens no problem on holes where I had to run the hybrid in. And it will reward a softer punchy swing by still going high.

I took a chance on a thrift shop 7w.  Had been using  18* and 21* hybrids.  The hybrids are gone, might never return.  7w a dream for me. High and far.

And at $3.00, in excellent condition, a SUPER BUY.

and where is this thrift shop?  Asking for a friend
