Huge deep pocketed sponsors drive where PGA Tour events are held. It's been that way for some time. Funny how year after year people keep complaining about this without any context. FWIW East Lake has not always held the Tour Championship.

Living in the mid-Atlantic there hasn’t been a lot of tournaments so this was a treat. However, after going on a practice round day and then going back for the VIP treatment, it was like a completely different experience. You got to the practice round on buses, which involved walking a mile or more uphill both ways it seemed. Versus being taken right up to clubhouse, then golf cart over to stands, premium unlimited food, air conditioning.

 

Seems like around 2005-6 Valero gas stations were giving away tickets to the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. I think if you actually bought one it was $5-10. Heck I think general admission at this tournament is $85. God knows what my buddy paid for our VIP treatment. I hinted around for the weekend but he’s got business people showing up.

I would guess lower back based on the swing and subsequent ones.  I forsee a WD in Willie Z's future.

Not heard much opinions one way or another about it. Most of the comments seem to be that it is the first time they have played there, etc, etc but from my perspective which of course was me simply sitting my butt on the couch it looked pretty interesting.

Caddied, mowed greens and tees.  It's changed alot.  I was there yesterday and Grillo was heard saying the greens undulated alot.  They had to Frankenstein the course to make it more difficult so 6 holes are from one 18 and 12 from another.

LOL!  Such things simply don't exist here in deep south Texas.  You are lucky if there is enough grass under the ball to disintegrate after the strike.

Haha sorry man. At least it forces you to be shallow. Like I said some of the courses in Savannah and even courses like Pinehurst 2 have really tight lies everywhere with exploding Divots. I’ve only played in Texas at La Cantera in San Antonio and it was actually not too bad from a divot perspective.

Ha, you're playing on lush turf at the Woodlands (pure envy here).  I'm taking super thin almost grass over dirt or good old hardpan.  Divots = wrist reconstructive surgery.

Unfortunately it won't matter.  Current ownership at the club ran it into the ground and are shuttering golf operations at the end of the month.  They want to retain ownership and lease the golf operations.  The golf course is a dumpster fire.  Their business acumen is comparable to garden shrubs.  It's sad.

Yeah, I see these pros taking beaver pelts with their wedges and my divots *never* look like that.
