Tiger and Rory can’t start anything. 
 

The current President of Golf for the NBC Sports Group is CEO of TMRW. 
 

Investors include the former EVP of the NFL and COO of the NHL and the former Chairman of Goldman Sachs Global Capital Markets. 
 

The idea is to start with golf then leverage the concept into other sports.

I don't think anyone is under any illusions that this comparable to an actual 72 hole tournament, it is its own thing.  You could say the same thing about world long drive, is it golf?  I would say no, and I don't think you will find any long drive fans trying to argue that long drive is the same as "golf".  In my observation it's usually people who aren't interested in or aren't willing to try to understand the activity that always take shots with silly questions like "is this considered golf?".  

 

It may not be for you, and you know what, that's OK.  It is a very real possibility that this whole concept fails spectacularly, but there's only one true way to find out.  What I will say is all the comparison to LIV golf are laughable.  This idea is complementary to the existing tours, and isn't purposely scheduled to go head to head with them.  I'm not particularly a fan of the LIV golf format, but I'm not going to fault them for trying something different.

The only way this would be remotely interesting to me is if they include "nobody's" who have crazy talent with a golf club.  These types who are range rats / YouTubers / golf savants.  They can't play 4 rounds and post good scores to save their lives, but have some control.  Give these types the chance to go against PGAT players in skills competition, and it could be good.

 

Wait...no, what am I saying.  This will fail after year one and be on the Outdoor Channel or something.

This isn’t golf. I thought LIV-golf is a circus. What is this then? Sad news for golf really. We already have longdrive championships in arenas and on simulators. Are they popular? No. Sittning in a stadium when you can have day outside on the golf course watching the players. 
 

My main problem with LIV-golf wasn’t the format. Well, I don’t really like it.. But the main problem was that it is sports washing. Saudi terror money. Now I wonder if Tiger and Rory really did care at all about that part or if they just want to make even more money etc on this stuff.

Kudos for trying to think outside the box but "American Ninja Warrior" for golf is going to attract exactly who? Casual to avid golfers will watch the first episode out of curiosity and tune out.

 

Hopefully for Tiger and Rory they get that TV money up front before this goes kaput.

So much viewing is streaming (Netflix etc,) now that it’s very easy to pause your episode of Better Call Saul and be like,

 

Hmmm, let’s see what Tiger doing on that kooky golf show!

 

You know ya gonna watch 🤣

 

 

 

Plus, it will be available on demand as well, I’d think.

Like another poster mentioned, I wish they made a full sized hole in a dome and could adjust it somehow to come up with challenges. 
 

Watching it simulated instead of a real ball flying is not going to work well for entertainment.
