So we're about 90 days out from the first event.  Four of the six teams named, and roughly 15 players total have commited.  But players haven't been announced to what teams.  

 

There is more info about who the investors of each team are, and zero info about who the actual players are for each team:

I’ve had this photo ready to go for around a week but didn’t post it because I didn’t want to look so cynical. But the reality is the big golf retails we’re awful back in the day with their juiced numbers. So this indoor game would be easy to manipulate. 
Store fitter: “You’re hitting that 3w around 310. Response: “OK Cowboy”

I know there is a lot of jest on here but on a serious note, people need to remember that this isn't designed to be a direct tour event style competitor. It's just an addition to what already exists to try and pull in some fans from either the younger or more tech orientated backgrounds, while making some cash in the process. If they hook in some of the traditional crowd then great, more money for the business.

 

Obviously it won't be the same as watching the Masters or whatever, but I for one won't be watching it through the same lens. Any extra golf to watch from the top players is a bonus in my eyes, as I just enjoy watching golf. Plus it might be interesting to see some of these players in a more relaxed setting, having a bit of fun.

 

I'll probably look at it the same way I do with LIV golf, in that I don't particularly get overly excited by watching it (like I would watching the back 9 of the Masters) but I enjoy watching some of those players just playing golf, like Cam Smith, DJ etc.... but I couldn't care less who actually wins it.

 

For someone who works a busy stressful job, with kids and lives in Scotland where golf in the winter is minimal - i'll take my chance of watching some extra golf any day of the week regardless of the format!

They better have thought up some really interesting gimmicks for this because right now it seems like even hard-core golfers like ourselves will take a hard pass.  Personally, I wouldn't care if they got Christ himself to come down from the cross to play simulator golf.

I will watch it for exactly what it is.  Golf centric prime-time off-season fun.  Not all golf needs to be 72-hole stroke play Th-Sun. 

 

The teams being location based seems really dumb, because outside of say LA and Florida, you'll end up with teams made up of players who have nothing to do with that geography.  But I get why TMRW went after those deep pockets. 

 

I would have preferred OEM-based teams.  Team Taylormade, Team Callaway, Team NIKE etc.  Bring in the fitters and social media aspect too.  Let's see Wunder posting about custom builds specific to hitting off a mat for Callaway players.  I can't help but think they might change a few aspects of club design, like sole grinds, bounce, even the ball type used.

I have no idea if this will be any good or not but I'll certainly check out the 1st event. Not sure I understand those who insist on telling others how much their not interested. Do what makes you happy people. I'd certainly rather give this a shot than watch another CBS crime procedural. We all have options.  

 

What surprises me is that they didn't get more creative in building teams. How do you not get Lexi, Nelly or someone like Iona Stephens or Alex O' Laughlin simply for eye candy? Or celebrities like Tom Holland to tap into a bigger addressable market? Seems like they are leaving eyeballs on the table. 

 

I think it's important that the majority of participants be professionals (The match w/ Curry, Klay, Mahomes, Kelce was a dud) but adding some people w/ personality can't hurt. With 6 teams of 4, I would have gone w/ 2 PGAT pros, 1 LPGA pro, plus 1 wild card.  Shouldn't be that hard to find 6 wildcards w/ enough game and personality to add to the event. Bring back Steph Curry or Tony Romo. Bring in a Youtuber like Good Good. Hell, bring out the big guns and invite Paige Spiranac (Pun intended).  

 

On top of adding some personality to the event, it also helps highlight how freaking good pros are when you have a more relatable reference point alongside them.

This is the second "event" Tiger has had an opportunity to include top LPGA players, and it doesn't even get mentioned.  His Hero World challenge is a limited field invite only event, with 18-19 top male players and some personal friends added on.  Why not make it 20 top men and 20 top women?  It's a off season hit and giggle.  

 

These TMRW teams could have been 3 men and 1 LPGA star.  Nelly, Charley, Minjee, Lexi.  And those could have easily been incorporated into OEM teams like Team Taylormade, Team Nike etc., as they already get together in groups for early season filming.
