Ping hybrids are the best. I currently have three.  Would like to upgrade to these when they come out, but may just get a fairway wood.

Because the turbulators work on a head big as a driver.

 

When will people understand Ping is not Taylormade or Callaway, when they innovate and find something that works, they are going to us it until there is a solution that performs better.

Exactly.  Ping wouldn't care if they had a driver with a scoop out of the back of it like a Hibore, 4inches of offset, a rail on the bottom, and a wing coming off the tail like a crappy early 2000s suped up Civic if it meant it got 3-5 yards more carry, 1-2mph more swing speed because of aerodynamics, and dropped spin by 200RPMs.  As much as posters here don't want to admit it, there are a lot of people who like the look of the tubulators (myself included) or even, shocker, don't care what it looks like as long as it performs.

Most of us would gladly get rid of the turbulators in exchange for the 1 mile an hour swing speed gain.

I didn't know people still cared that much about a few little bumps on the top of a crown considering its been a decade since they put them on there and have not wavered from this since.  It's like arguing that you would buy Srixon irons in a heartbeat if they would just do away with that pesky V-sole.  It isn't going anywhere any time soon clearly, so there's no sense in being upset that its on there, right?

I've spoken with PING engineers at the PGA Shows before (you know before the Rona) and asked about the turbulators.  They explained the science and design in them.  Let's just say they don't particularly care what we think.  The great majority of customers don't care one bit about them because the design works and it's proven itself.  Some of our customers make comments until we fit them into a driver; then they dramatically disappear because the fit is good mixed with sound engineering.  The ONLY complaint I have is the sound of the driver, but that's just me.

 

Until they can come up with something better, expect to see them, and it does make them distinct.  Engineers are a funny bunch.  Performance over design is their focus.  Now thanks to John Solheim, the looks have improved over the last couple years, but I doubt PING will change anything dramatic until there is a need to.

I must admit that even though I have 11 Ping clubs in the bag, I’m tired of this “Ping is an engineering company, they only care about performance and not looks and sound bla bla bla” meme.

 

If Ping engineers don’t have to make clubs that look or sound good, it actually makes their jobs way easier. TM, Callaway and Titleist engineers have a much tougher job to make clubs that meet spin and launch window targets, are forgiving and look and sound good, because they have additional constraints to deal with.

I don't mind the turbolators, however it would have been nice if they blended the alloy to carbon transition like the did with these hybrids on the LST.

I got to Tour the Ping facility in 2018 and sit for a Q&A, and I was told the engineers saw no real benefit in carbon crowns too, but 4 years later, here we are.

 

I understand that the turbulators may have more benefit in a larger head than the fairways/hybrids, but man do the fairways and hybrids look 10x better than the drivers the last two iterations.

With modern lofts as well that's really an 8i in most sets.  Cut that baby down to +0.5-0.75" over your typical 8i length, plunk in a heavier shaft and a heavier grip, and oh baby, 85 year old grandma, here I come.  The longest iron in the bag being a 9i would be hilarious.  Heck, if you play really strong lofted irons like I do, that could very well be the 9i if you tweak the loft to the full 1.5+ sleeve too.  Wild times.

The benefit they found would be a deadened sound.  So yes, they did find a benefit.
