I'd be happy for a defense that didn't blow coverages every time the other team has the damn ball.

In all seriousness, I'll watch the Super Bowl, I'll watch the World Series when they actually care ... but regular season? Just a buncha multi-millionaires going through the motions knowing they'll get paid whether they do anything or not. If I wanted to watch that, I'd watch C-Span. 😂

... I have to admit I was a little shocked by the defense. Year 2 under Eberflus that has built solid defenses everywhere he went took me by surprise. I was prepared for the offense to struggle but not the defense.

I will disagree.  Pros “weather the storm” if they’re out they play out the string.  Sadly I have been in that road, when it’s competitive it’s something, when you’re winning it’s fun, when you’re losing?  Let’s get out of here without injuries.  It’s sad, but it’s human.

... Sure it was. Not that there is anything wrong with that. 🤠

"If there were an official title for the Most Lesbian Car, it would hands down belong to the Jeep Wrangler. With its enormous tires as aesthetically appealing and chunky as a pair of Doc Martens and its pleasingly geometric yet practical shape, there is surely not a dykier vehicle to be found on four wheels (motorbikes are of course the most lesbian of all vehicles, as evidenced by the grand tradition of the Dykes on Bikes at every Pride Parade, as well as their symbiotic relationship with leather and practical shoes). Brian from the US version of ‘**** as Folk’ bought a Jeep Wrangler after being told that it was ‘for fags’, which gives it even more **** points. And it’s called the Wrangler, for god’s sake. That could easily be the name of a strap-on harness."

Yeah I hate " yuppie Jeeps" the kind that owners will dodge a mud puddle in. Now a "real jeep" for me is a half clapped out CJ with white spoked (even rusty) steel wheels and like a set of 31 tires. Bonus points if it had had a basically stock small block Chevy conversion with rusty headers but a stock 304 or 6 cylinder AMC will do. I also like the older again rusty clapped out Wagoneers pre Chrysler days. Go up on the Outer Banks of NC where you are allowed to ride on the Beach and you can tell the real local residents. They drive rusty clapped out Jeeps. I laugh at the yuppies here in their shiny jeeps with carpet and leather interiors with OBX stickers on them especially sporting out of state tags. And knowing the outer banks like I do I really laugh at some of them. Some of those trails as they call them are so packed I can drive my Caddy on them. I am wanting to find an older jeep clapped out and maybe put a set of Wrangler seats in it to drive the yuppie posers nuts.

We also have another set of posers here. Guys with big shiny jacked up trucks. They have those big rod racks on the back with nice shiny deep sea fishing rods and reels on them along with the largest Yeti coolers known to man. Yeah the coolers get stocked with beer and ice but the rods and reels never get closer to the water than the parking lot unless it rains on them. I laugh at them and do my own thing.

I guess I can be an oddity too. One time last winter I went to Lowes and bought some firewood bundles. I loaded like 20 total in the Caddy between the trunk and back seat. One old nosy fart asked "you are actually going to load that stuff in that Caddy?" Why not I asked him? He said it would over load it. I told him what a dumbazz he was and they must not have taught basic math where he was from. The bundles are like 20 to 22 lbs each. I told him that and total that was 450 or so pounds max. No more than 3 fat women riding to church on Sunday besides it has automatic air ride. LOL he shuffled off in a hurry. I know one of the employees there and he was helping me load ( play golf with him in the league) he laughed and said "tell him Stuey" Besides I am not 100% rogue I did use 2 thick Indian blankets in the back seat to protect the leather seats.

Kinda like racing--- You are running and handling good you are thinking lets get to the front ASAP. If you are running bad and handling bad to boot you are thinking lets see how high we can finish without tearing this thing up.

These men have been playing this sport their entire lives with complete dedication and effort. They love it and they have always wanted to excel at it.

It is a "character"  thing for almost every one of them.  They don't know how to "phone it in". When they excel, the money follows.

But they play for the same reasons they played for in high school.

Yes, in addition, you can’t “phone it in” in football 🏈 because

1. you risk being killed, per the gif I posted above 😳

2. the media and fan scrutiny is thrifty the roof. Monday rolls around and they see you “dogging it” you’ll be virtually eviscerated!

As golfers, we on this forum, play because we are dedicated to and love the game. We work hard to excel, which is always our goal. We do it for ourselves and for our pride... we want to be as good as we can be.

And we don't even get paid for it.

Nice, in HS Uncle Rico, I had the immense personal satisfaction of hitting a guy like that and levitating him up and parallel to the ground like that

Was an RB coming out of the backfield only I didn’t blind side him, he actually came at me lol and I decked him!

Coach rewound that part of the film like 10 times when we all watching the game film on Monday! 🤣

And I’d submit that this is more than half the C-suite in the corporate world. Just look at the clowns that are paid millions, leave the company in worse shape than when they arrived, and get millions in severance. Insanity.

The value of  "talking a good line" but not actually knowing how to get things done.  The company you worked for before got lucky under good economic conditions. You just went along for the ride and now you're the brand new CEO for new company.

Football is bit unique in that it's only 20 game season, once a week. Other sports are not setup that way. Do players quit at points? sure but in general, the level of intensity is higher and more consistent. Like NBA more, but it's now just playoffs, because they bring it then and rarer in the prior 82 games.

It’s funny. I absolutely agree with you , and I m doing it after seeing how unpopular it is. 🤣.  My perception is the same.  And for various reasons.  I absolutely love college football. And I go to a high school game almost every Friday night. But I cannot tell you the last nfl game I watched. Not even the Super Bowl. Probably goes back to the Janet Jackson teet-gate incident…..that’s a long time ago.  I’ve caught a few moments of some 49ers games just to watch Debo. But that’s it.  In my opinion seeing an nfl player play like Debo is rare.  He plays like a hungry man.

now I have my flame suit on.  So bring it. I realize it’s my opinion.  But it’s not like I just made it up one day and decided to not watch one level of a sport I like.  This perception came from  somewhere.  Same as why I quit watching mlb baseball in 94.  There’s a reason.  But with football I can’t put my finger on the exact time. I just know that one day o was watching LT , sanders , rice , Montana , and the fridge ,,and then one day I didn’t want to watch it anymore. Everytime I stop and try I’m bored to tears.
