The Titleist website allows you to make some spec adjustments like loft/lie but specs like hard/soft stepping, different grip brands, swingweight don’t seem to be options you can customize. How’s everyone getting around this? I know wrx’ers aren’t doing stock specs! Ha

Has anyone done a combo set with T350 in the long irons and T200 in the short irons? If so are you having yardage gap issues?

I have t350 5-6 T200 7-8 and T100 9-P no gap issues at all.  There is a 5.5 degree difference between the 8 and 9 but that’s not enough to make a huge difference to me.

TaylorMade was out at our course for fitting day today.   So I jumped  in with the new P790 for some hits and giggles.

Had the same shaft as my T350 SF I80 and man, those things felt really harsh compared to both my 350 and 200.   Distance was a bit more on the 350 but just as high so I don’t lose anything on landing angle.

I have had the two previous versions of P790 but will be skipping these.

Did the team titleist fitting today and the t200 were the fit for me, but just did not care for the feel. Going to pass for now.

the t200 Utility, on the other hand, is an instant purchase with ADIZ 95HY. Thing is a rocket and super easy to hit. The U505 is awesome too but a bit too chunky.

What loft, spec did you go with and where is it fitting within your set?

My T200 5-iron arrived today. Took it to the range and was a little bothered by the clickiness of the feel. I was hitting off mats. It was just OK. Then I took it over to the grass range and it was awesome. Great feel (not like my fully forged T100 irons, but not bad) and very powerful. It’s basically performing like my old 4 iron but with more forgiveness and height.

Something about the turf interaction off of mats, maybe affecting where it was striking on the face, made it not feel very good. But once I got it to the turf, it was a whole different sensation.

First round with the T200.  I hit a green I've been missing all year and didn't shank any so i guess it was a good day!

They look and feel great.

Indeed they do! PXG's only lasted 3 months since my T200 fitting and have been playing my best golf YTD 🙂

Turf interaction: Awesome!

Sound/Feel: Awesome!

Distance: Too far!

My i230 PW was 120 yards maybe a touch more. My T150 PW is 140 yards. Yes, I checked the loft, lie and swing weight and they are spot on. I hit the T150 8 iron 145+, haven't hit the 9 iron yet and PW is 140 yards. I wanted some "players distance" but not that much! Another lefty set to hit the BST!

This is where my distances should be and for the most part +/- they are except for the PW.

Great fitting video! Very comprehensive, curious how many that have been fitted for the new T irons had the opportunity to go through such a comprehensive fitting.

I had a really good rep at my local fitting. Went over a lot of the same things in the video. I never paid attention to peak height on irons or the ball speed gap. I’ve went to the boutique fittings at Club Champion and they’ve been good but I realized I can get pretty much the same thing at a retail spot. I guess it depends on the fitter. For instance, I was fit into the 1k(not an up-charge) and the nippon modus 120 - no up-charge and I think about how much money I actually saved.

Did you get to hit any other clubs besides the 7 iron?  I think that’s for value of titleist fit in the video.  They said they are sending out fitter packs, but no fitters in the local market seem to have them.

Not me lol

I had a great guy, but he almost just agreed with what I was looking at, and didn't really explore too many options with me.

Also just had a 7 iron to go off, which I am starting to hate when the 4 or 5 iron is the most important club imo for dispersion/distance.

I went p790s in the end anyway, because I'm fed up with Titleist having my golf bag that was returned for warranty, it has been over 2 months now.

I hit the 7 and the 4 iron(t100 and t150). Probably not a fitting pack although I don’t know if that’s the whole set or pw,7,4 iron? Or all the heads? Which idk if they would do that.

Absolutely, I trying to talk myself into doing something like that. I said earlier that I could see myself playing all t200’s, but then don’t want get them and not like them in scoring irons.

I ordered the T200 (6-PW) set 1 degree weak. I hit the (2021) T100 fine, so the setup will likely be T200 (6/7) and T150 (8-PW). But always nice to have a backup plan!

I picked up my T200’s today. Just 2 weeks from fit/order to in hand! I went to. the range after and hit some great shots - high, slight fade, nice distance (particularly 6 iron and below). I’m gonna need to dial in the 4 and 5 over the next few weeks but I can see the potential there. Very happy with my first impressions.

Update: As mentioned previously, I received my irons almost a month early on 8/16 - just in time for a round at Pinehurst No. 6 the following day. Pinehurst No. 6 is not located on the same campus as No. 2; however, it still has the amenities you’d expect with Pinehurst Resort (Large range stocked with Titleist balls, well-manicured Bermuda greens, and great fairways to hit from). This was a great place to break in my T-150 irons.

As I also mentioned before, I saw my biggest distance gain in over a decade during my fitting with Club Champion. I was extremely happy to see that translated to my round. Unfortunately, the negative side of this was that I had no clue how far any of my irons truly traveled.

Fortunately for me, one of the “Member Rewards” for purchasing through Club Champion was (3) complimentary one-hour sessions on Trackman. I booked an hour for this afternoon and went through my bag from PW to 4-iron. Just like my fitting, I graded every shot from A - F. Anything C or above I kept.

I had a few interesting results. Some of which go against Titleist’s current fitting recommendations.

image.png.4934f4e36c70da47ef156cd9e586f72f.png

image.png.9b6ba948201536790fcdaacb9ccbe225.png

image.png.27b1e68f54317de2f7b82b3cc2acfe21.png

image.png.1ea2303f96805f1f90b563ac77a7b7d8.png

I saw a 9 mph jump in ball speed from my 9-iron to my 8-iron. Normally, this would make me curious if the lofts were strong. However, all the lofts have already been checked.

image.png.6c3588b84915769f785dea63be1dcaf2.png

image.png.d86c104e28d49cd8caf071034cc36de5.png

According to Titleist, the 5-iron is where I start to need help. From 6-iron to 5-iron my ball speed increases only 3.5 mph. Normally, you might attribute this to mishits since I was keeping any swings ranked C or higher.  If you look closely, my smash factor average went from 1.40 with the 6-iron to 1.42 with the 5-iron. Additionally, this is the first iron where my peak height starts to drop slightly from 112 feet with the 6-iron to 106 feet with the 5-iron.

image.png.1cd84cc75278b834e0669adb819ccf0b.png

I see a similar pattern, albeit, slightly better with my 4-iron. My ball speed increases 4.5 mph over my 5-iron. To be fair, since I only took four swings there’s a chance that I could get above 5 mph with a larger sample size. However, my smash factor increased from 1.42 with my 5-iron to 1.46 with my 4-iron. I doubt a larger sample size would improve my numbers that much with contact like that.

In addition to the ball speed, my peak height dropped again.  This time from 106 feet with my 5-iron to 97 feet with my 4-iron. Titleist recommends testing the peak height of your 4-iron to the peak height of your-7 iron.  If the 4-iron peak height is lower, you can assume the landing angle is too shallow.

For long irons and hybrids, Titleist recommends a landing angle of 40-50° and never fit below 40°. While my peak height does drop for both my 5-iron and 4-iron, both maintain a landing angle within the appropriate range for long irons.

image.png.76532e4743319c3c65cea44fb70b18d5.png

I wrote a fairly lengthy post about my fitting experience at Club Champion. For those that didn’t read it, I had the biggest distance gain with my irons in over a decade (9.1 yards of carry and 8.9 yards total). I was pleased to see that my 6-iron numbers were actually BETTER today than during my fitting.

2019 T-100 6-iron
Carry: `172.7
Total: 181.5

2023 T-150 6-iron Fitting
Carry: 181.8
Total: 190.4

Today
Carry: 187.3
Total: 196.9

All of this leaves me wondering. According to Titleist, I need help with both my 5-iron and 4-iron due to my insufficient ball speed gaps and a drop in peak height. Despite the drop in peak height, I maintain an appropriate landing angle with both irons. One could argue that my smash factor alone of 1.42 and 1.46 respectively proves that I have no issues hitting the long irons in the T-150. I suspect that Titleist would counter that my ball speed gaps are too close despite the smash factor being so high. Proving that I need help in the 4 and 5-iron.

Personally, I feel like I’m hitting my new T-150 irons too well and too far to change anything over these results. I’d love to hear some members thoughts.

Finally saw these in person yesterday and I was shocked how good the T100 and T150's looked. I don't know if its because they were in store and without a scratch on them but these really looked clean. The T100 looked like as much of a blade as any blade I've seen. I was also surprised how little the difference between T100 and T150 is. Honestly its barely noticeable.

The T200 looked good but still just not on the same level as the others. Kinda reminds me of the last iteration of the T200 in that its an improvement from the previous version but there's still room to go.

For context I currently game the 2019 T100. Would be interested in hearing how the 2023 T100 feels vs the 2019 version. Never hit the 2021.

Great fitting video! Very comprehensive, curious how many that have been fitted for the new T irons had the opportunity to go through such a comprehensive fitting.

I went through indoor and outdoor with these. The fitter really wanted me in T100s for spin and launch but I just don’t trust my ball striking. The T150 didn’t hit my optimal spin but ball speed was better. It was a few hundred rpm’s less on best strikes and he was worried about bad strikes. I made the executive decision that I’d have less bad strikes with the T150. We spilt my set at the 5 iron and went T200 there and 4. Again could have done a T200 6 but my best strikes were easily within the 5mph gap it was bad strikes that dropped below. The process is good but you have to make some decisions on your end knowing your own game. Same with shafts. We tried many. He settled on 115-120 gram and my comfort zone. The PX was what I am so accustomed to. The Modus gave me the best numbers but dispersion was worse. Had to decide there as well and went with what I am accustomed to in PX. The great thing about their process is when you leave you trust what you are getting explicitly. After that it’s all Indian and not arrow.
