2024 Footjoy shoes, some surprise changes?

that is what i was thinking too - its not leather to clean off easy and was worried about staining and getting dirty too easily after a morning dew round.

I have a black pair and the white pair that has teal & pink on them. They are super comfortable when you find the right size (I have 10.5M and 10W and like the 10W better). The white around the ankle does get dirty easy but they clean up well if you're willing to scrub them with a soapy brush and let them air dry for a day or two.

Less flashy than the previous gen ones, actually grabbed a pair of the last gen ones cause the price was too good and if they break I'll get these lol.

Still have the tiny pointed toe boxes… If we only had 3 toes they would fit perfect.

Actually these are pretty roomy, I can wiggle my toes. Went for an 11W and fits just fine. Tried a few inserts I had but since they were thing made too much space in the shoe so sticking with the stock insert.

Will give them a try, for the price I'll gamble on them and so far so good.

I'm thinking I need to go the insert route.  Wider foot myself.  Any go to's?

It's trial and error, depending on the shoe. I kinda just stick to SuperFeet because they're easy to get and ton of options, most shoes I get are like lower volume/profile inside the shoe so something like the FlexThin or Run Support Low Arch because they are the thinnest offered and will open up some shoes. I just those 2 in my Cuater's and made them from snug to extremely comfortable.

But the HyperFlex have a lot of volume, I tried the 2 above and just way too much space in the shoes. I could order the FlexMax which is just thicker but decided for now just to stick with the stock OrthoLite insole which feels fine.

An unhappy FJ 2024 development seems to be the removal of brown base ("cognac" I think) from the MyJoys options. I've called 2x; both times the person said brown will return but did not know what shade, and when.

Seems like FJ used to offer more models in XW (4E) than in recent years. IMO all shoes not just golf shoes are too narrow. I asked FJ about this and the rep said XW “aren’t that popular” so now they only go up to Wide in most of their lineup which is ridiculous. It appears their shareholders are more important than their customers so I need to look elsewhere for golf shoes. If only Ecco came in XW

The original FJ Stratos ($200) back in 2021-22 were almost perfect.
Plush NappaLuxe leather

2-Year waterproof

StratoFoam

VersaTrax+

Lane Last (every FJ should use this)

Only con was they had a cork lined insole but at least they offered every color in Wide and XW. The following year FJ released an updated version but no XW just Wide and now it’s discontinued altogether. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean it makes sense, it's the same as brands making everything in LH at a certain point the SKU doesn't sell and it's just wasted money on their end.

I can see FJ saying that XW width is offered in the MyJoys program which is more money and can't return them but it's something I guess.

I feel your pain, literally. I wore Dry Joys and Classics in XW for over 3 decades. Since they were discontinued I’ve not been able to find any FJ shoes that fit. Fortunately I’ve found New Balance and Fitville golf shoes which fit great and have great support, but not a fan of how they look. With FJ’s new last shapes and sizing they would need a XXW width to fit since they’ve made the toe boxes so narrow and triangular.

I forgot to write “bring on New Balance” but like you said they aren’t the best looking for my taste. When the ProSL came out I thought wow, perfect. I even went the MyJoy route just for fun. ProSL with BOA was my reliable go to then after a couple years with no issues the size that always fit perfect was tight. Even the leather seemed inferior to previous generations. What a bummer.

I think the new Pro SL is going to be good. Here is a new commercial for them. My local Golf Galaxy has them too... granted... they had a bunch of boxes hanging out against the wall and not out yet... I went and helped myself to opening box and looking them over. I think they look really nice.

I respect the good people at FJ - have been lucky enough to have a top to top with their leadership in a different role - but let’s be honest, the SL has always been the bowling shoe of golf. Good for utility, but would never see a non-staffer ever wear it.

Looks great. Now if FJ can figure out how to size their shoes correctly, that too would be a huge improvement as well.

Ugh. I think you're right. I've been wearing Nike/Adidas the last 15 years and have been looking to convert over to footjoy because they seem like a much more serious golf brand than Nike. Nike's have been super narrow for years. I'm tired of their s###. And Adidas completely ruined the tour 360 the last couple iterations (although the '24 looks nice).

You're right, I see virtually no one on youtube golf wearing Pro SL's. Yet a few people complained on page 1 that footjoy was going too far away from something that worked with this update. From an aesthetics perspective I see this as a significant upgrade but I have no idea how successful it'll be. I realize some people don't like the bright colors- fine. To me the new white ones remind me a bit of the Cuater's that Jon Rahm always wears, which I think is a good thing.

I desperately need a new pair of golf shoes as I have a trip coming up. I think I'll go for a pair of white premiere's. I've tried them on and like the fit/feel/stability (in wide).

Can someone explain what is size chart A B or C at Footjoy. I have narrow feet and it creates 2 issues: the feet are to a degree ‘floating’ in the shoe even in a medium width (bad for stability) and my Achilles tendons are suffering to the point I had to stop playing for a while. The situation has been handled by a Pro SL Narrow with BOA only available in white. I am wondering if I will find a similar solution in the Pro SLX range or if I should buy an additional pair of Pro SL (currently Narrow only available through Custom program). Thanks.

If you take the insert out of Eccos they get pretty wide.  Sincerely, mortons neuroma sufferer who needs a wide toe box

Got a chance to try on the ProSLX’s today and i’m super disappointed. Obviously the aesthetics have changed a bit and that is all in the eye of the beholder. For me, the addition of a mid area that runs completely around the shoe between the sole and upper really detracts from their look. The shape has been changed slightly and reminds me more of the Fuels when wearing them. I personally wasn’t a big fan of the extended tab on the heel, and the inside around the top was rock hard to the point where they were a bit uncomfortable.

For the first time in at least 7-8 years I won’t be getting a pair of ProSL’s as my main shoes for the season 😢😢

Similar to previous sl carbon, has a carbon shank insert and a different insole.  Supposed to give more support. The insole wore through on my old sl carbon so wasn’t impressed. Footjoy were no help. So minor extra stability and stiffness.

i got some FJ Traditions. my first FJ show in a very long time since i wanted to get away from tennis style nike/tw shoes and get a more traditional shoe.

i normally wear a 10.5 in about everything. tried the 10.5 and too big. got the 10m but was a little snug, got the 10w and those felt great but the heel moved too much. tried the 9.5w juuuust in case and felt i would have to hope they stretched a tad more to feel comfortable. the only issue i have with the 10w is heel slipping so i bought some heel grip inserts. i'm hoping the 10w with the heel grips end up being the best fit.
