2024 Footjoy shoes, some surprise changes?

I'll be taking a look at the new slx

would you get the carbon again?

Personally not, I moved to hyperflex and premiere and have a couple of pairs of traditions, no insole issues all all. Wouldn’t risk the insole wearing though again as footjoy were no help at all even on sourcing replacement insolies. I’d just go for normal ones.

I dont know why there's such little review on soft spikes on this forum but I got those recently and they're legit.

The stock spikes on Premieres are AWFUL for traction. They wear fast and really dont feel like they do anything at all??

I've had the same issue with the tongues sliding over. I took the shoes to my local cobbler and he added a tiny stitch along the inside corner of the tongue that essentially holds the tongue in place. The opposite side of the tongue is left unstiched so you can still open and close the shoe easily. This tiny stitch fix has been an absolute game changer. No more tongue slide at all and my feet stay comfy all day. I'd highly recommend running this by your local cobbler. I think it was $10 total for him to do and I do this on every pair of Premieres as soon as I get them.

What spikes do you like to replace the stock spikes?

These are the newest/best soft spike ever made, have three pairs of Premieres with these on them, so good.

Looks like pretty much every pro that's wearing Premieres has them swapped out and G Fore is now selling their G-Lock with these as the stock spike. Footjoy really needs to follow suit.

Those are definitely the best ones and my favorites so far, it's like they combined 3 spike styles into 1, in second place I'd put the Black Widow just since they're so aggressive. The Pulsar are popular with OEM's but I wear them out so fast, I just keep them on until they wear out then toss in something new.

Anyone moving away from the TourX/A shoes?
I've decided to try the new Traditions Bluchers... they look extremely clean.

Never got into the Tour Alpha myself after being a big fan of the TourX didn't like the last reshape of them. Actually just got a pair of the HyperFlex Carbon and would consider those a happy replacement for a FJ shoe for me.

I certainly agree and did not like the Alpha's... I ran into some knee and hip discomfort that I am attributing to the "sneaker" style shoe so going back to a casual walking style.

I went a few different directions with my shoes after the TourX ones, I'd definitely say try the HyperFlex either the regular or carbon. If you can get past that sorta external sock they're a nice shoe.

Just got my new pro slx carbons.  I was very skeptical given I played the sport version last year, but I have to say these were SO comfortable when I put them on and still felt light!  I’ll be traveling south next week so I’ll get to test them outside (too much snow up north here). Also a bit skeptical about the lack of spiking on the middle of the footprint so curious how it performs with high speed swings.

Same here.

I checked them out yesterday.

The fields pictured above with max Homa are so classy. I'm planning on going back today and picking them up....it's dangerous when there's a well stocked golf shop 6 minutes from your house

What's the difference between the Pro SLX and the Slx carbon?

With the SLX Carbon, if you duck hook your tee shot in the woods and then venture out to hit your second, only to be confronted by a bear, you’ll find comfort knowing you have carbon in your shoes, much like elite marathon runners do, which will assist you in running faster.

Does anyone know what the white squares are for on these Footjoys?  Assuming it is just decoration, but I think it would have looked better just being all blue…

  • 2 weeks later...

I’ve been searching for a few days now and can’t find an answer….

I want a Premier BOA with spikes in white. I see they offer a BOA with spikes in Black only.

Does Footjoy really not offer a traditional looking shoe with spikes and BOA in any color but black?

edit: they do seem to offer BOA in the myjoys. I guess that’s at least an option?

When you say spikes are you referring to the removable soft spikes or the spiky tread?

Amen to that. Every spiked shoe should come with the softspikes tour flex pros. Everything else is barely better than spikeless.

To those that have changed over to the Softspikes Tour Flex Pro:

Did you use the tools that come with the kit or is there a better tool you would recommend?

I got this one a while ago and it works great. I didn’t get a tool with mine, but I’ve used the one I think you’re referring too in the past and it’s a lot of effort to get the second click. Not a huge deal if you only have 6 spikes, but on a pair of premieres with 9 spikes per shoe it’s a pain sometimes getting that second,”click” This one works great and the stripper attachment is perfect for getting the old spikes out if they are worn down.

Thanks for the recommendation! This looks a lot easier than the tools that come with the kit. Almost similar to the tools for drivers.

I also noticed they have white and gray for the Tour Flex Pro now, not just green. I may have to get some soon.

I recently got some flints for my spikeless golf shoe option, and I have to say I am impressed with the traction of the Versatrax for a spikeless shoe, there is very little between the Flints and the Packards with Tour Flex Pros and I've been playing some super wet courses the last few weeks.

I also went from 8.5W for the Packards to 8.5M in the flints and they fit even better than the wide, also, zero break-in time too.
