2024 Footjoy shoes, some surprise changes?

Recommended Posts

FYI, I just bought a pair of Field spiked, last ones I could find anywhere in my size and they seem to bet slightly wider than my spiked Packards. They feel and look a bit wider.

Good.

I hope so.

Had been wearing ProSLs for a few years - but didn't last two rounds in the Tour Alphas. Thought the heel-surround - whatever you call that - was built up way too high, it was just the absolute most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn. Switched over to the Adidas ZG23 soon thereafter but I'd go back to FJ in a second if these are better.

Crazy, but I had the exact opposite experience. I own pairs of ProSLs and Tour Alphas, and the ProSLs turn my Achilles into hamburger. The complete lack of support/padding in the ProSLs just wreck my feet, but the Alphas provide stability and support.

Good.

I completely agree with you about the Field Spiked being a bit wider than the Packards.  Both are comfortable, but I've worn the Field Spiked a lot more because they're a little wider.  Packards fit just fine, so no complaints about them at all.

I would love to see a reissue of the Contours from the early 2000s.

ditto.

I had a black pair that were fantastic.

wore them until only the laces were salvageable.

The Traditons seem to have a fairly wide forefoot. For me, they are a comfortable fit.

the Traditions smushed my pinky toe on both feet to the point the nails became black and blue.  I don't wear them any more.

The Traditions I bought in July are already failing.

Leather uppers are cracking.

I keep them clean, dry and tree-ed after every round.

reached out to FJ over the weekend but haven't heard back.

I tried Traditions and was not impressed with the durability. I switched to Premier and they are much better in quality, comfort, materials used, longevity, etc.

I’m more than a little surprised if they are making that big of change to the entire Pro SL line and not keeping something a little more in line with the previous generations. I can see the SLX being the sporty cousin to the stock SL, but I think its a mistake if they drop the SL line as we’ve known it.

They look about 90% the same to me.

I was a FJ guy for over 3 decades because the materials and construction quality were better than everything else on the market. However, in the last 3 or so years the quality has really deteriorated. Not to mention the consistent sizing they had for decades has also changed. It’s a shame, but they’ve ruined their shoes in my opinion.

Guess i’ll have to go buy up as many pairs of the older Pro SL’s I can find in new old stock. That new version does not hit the mark for me… Why would you make such a huge change to such a popular shoe? 🤦🏼‍♂️

I had some initial issues with mine where the cloth padding on the heel tore within the first couple of rounds. It was maddening, but the shoes were otherwise comfortable so I kept them. Well, I’m on my third pair. They are good for about a season of use, IMO (which I think is the intent of the manufacturer). I walk almost every round and haven’t found anything I like better. Very light and comfortable. I wish they were more durable, but well-made shoes are getting hard to find at a semi-reasonable price point.

I wore my Premieres last round just for kicks and found them much heavier. Much more substantial shoes, but a trade off in weight and comfort, IMO.

Any info of the shoes Homa and JT were wearing in South Africa? Looked like white premiers with solid grey soles.

They are the white fields with the standard cream colored soles:

Was hoping to see the Fields added to the Myjoys with an XXW option since they are so narrow.

Are there any release dates for this stuff?  Do they follow a predictable pattern like Titleist.  Tour alphas look sweet, especially if heel cushioning was addressed

Thanks for posting that.

I just wish they’d make a shoe shaped less like a dress shoe and more like an actual foot.  I don’t know about anyone else but my big toe is not in the middle.

This gripe of course applies to many brands.  But I feel FJ has become the worst offender.

So what shoes do you wear?  I have worm FJs in wide and find it is the best fit for a wider foot.  I can wear anything from Nike, puma  or G Fore

Those don’t look like any FJ model. Whatever brand they are that company is getting ready to get a bump in sales.
