2024 Footjoy shoes, some surprise changes?

You’re probably right, but tell me those don’t look like a pair of frickin’ 1990’s Etonics 🤦🏼‍♂️

Yep. I actually thought they were older model Ecco at first. Maybe they are a prototype Nike shoe? Still hard to believe that Nike hasn’t made a shoe for him with his personal requirements.

Nike does own Cole Haan so definitely a possibility.

Is the new tradition going to be in a new leather? I remember the current ones using a synthetic leather but the catalogue states the new models are genuine leather, albeit not the premium leather used in the premiere's. Could be interesting as I know some have had durability issues.

I’m thinking about som Premiers. Has anyone tried the spikeless, and how much does the traction differ from the spiked?

I just got a pair of Premiere Field spikeless on a 50% off sale, I haven't used them yet, but I normally play pretty dry courses here in the summer and was wearing aj1 lows most of last year. I doubt the Field spikeless will be any less grippy than the aj1 lows, but idk how they compare to the spiked version yet. I do have some traditions with spikes I am going to compare the Field spikeless to, but I guess it depends if your playing conditions/swing really require spiked shoes more often than not?

Isn't Grand 360 a Cole-Haan model ?

I saw a guy wearing the street version in tan with light soles, nice looking up close.

Guess i’ll have to go buy up as many pairs of the older Pro SL’s I can find in new old stock. That new version does not hit the mark for me… Why would you make such a huge change to such a popular shoe? 🤦🏼‍♂️

Maybe the show designers are like the TV people:  they produce what impresses their colleagues rather than stuff the public wants.

Either that or there are no bonuses for the guy who says "this is selling like hot cakes, let's keep this thing around."

I would say the spikes that come with the premiers (softspike pulsar) don't really make much of a difference from the non-spikes version, as the VersaTrax+ traction is so good on any premier shoe spikes or no spikes...

I think you can only feel a difference when you change the spikes to something more aggressive like Champ Stingers / Stinger Pro or Soft Spike Tour Flex Pro.

FWIW I have 5 Tour Flex Pro on the front and left the 4 pulsars in the back. but have been thinking of putting in all Stinger Pros as the weather is a bit damp/cold/icy. but they're super grippy as they are.

Solid advice, if I do end up grabbing some of the premiere field spiked I'll keep this in mind. Interestingly they appeared on the footjoy Canada site today but seem to have a blue outsole, I kind of like it the more I look at them. Premiere Series - Field

Big believer here in the Tour Flex Pros. Swapped out all my shoes for them.

Do the field's fit different to the Packard's? I had a pair of Packard's that shredded my heels, went up half a size and they were too loose!

I don't have any experience with the Fields but with the Packards;

It is an age-old comparison, but I am Size 9 in Air Max and size 8.5 in Jordans and my FJ packards are a size 8.5 Wide and they fit great, never had any heel shredding which I was expecting.

I'm curious to see how the newer soles hold up on all their products. Last 2 pair of FJ I purchased crack and come apart! I have gone with GFore Gallivanters, really like traction they provide but cushion around heel area appear to be an issue. Guess that's what happens when you outsource chasing the dollar, will stay with my old FG classic line, at least they provide style rather than tennis shoe appearance.

Will there be new soles?  If so in what line?

the spiked version of premiere definitely makes a different if you play on high slope courses. Pulsar aren’t perfect but they’re super durable.

Tons of spikes are firmer/sharper than Pulsar but 99.999999% of us (those of us who don’t play on PGA tour) would get told to leave ASAP if we wore Pro Stinger metal spikes on pavement.

SS Tornado, Champ Zarma and Champ Helix are also more aggressive without being metal. The yellow Stinger doesn’t seem to last me as long as the older tri-lok white ones which came on icons.

I've been using the Tour Flex Pro and the front spike has fallen out several times on two different FJ Premier's that I have.
