2024 Bridgestone Balls?

KhiloD

Recommended Posts

Kicking off my season this coming weekend, although I have decided on TP5X as my gamer for this year I do have a lot of balls I need to use up. So I'm thinking of using the new Tour B X or Tour B RX on my first round. Not really a course I'd pull driver much I think counted 5 holes I'd pull driver so with no need for the distance and more control just have to decide between those 2 balls to use. Maybe opt for the RX since I've never used one before on course and to see how it plays and to see how it performs outside of the Bridgestone driver speed rating.

So i used the ballnamic promo code just to see. did one with the BX and one with the TP5x. Interestingly, the BX was a higher match for me than the TP5x. Also shows it should travel farther than the TP5x as well, which seems to go against what others on here have seen in their testing.

Played my round with the Tour B RX yesterday and have to say I might like this ball over the Tour B X, I know Bridgestone says this ball is good for sub 105mph driver speed but I'm well above that and didn't see many issues from that. I did see a few things in it I liked over the BX which was a bit less spin so I wasn't really fighting irons much into the green, but because of that they do lack a bit in greenside spin but I didn't have an issue getting them to bite. I didn't have a huge issue with distance I had 2 drives that were probably 270-280 carry, ground was damp so zero roll out.

With the wet ground I did noticed that the balls did get scuffed up a bit, I went through 4 balls in the round 2 I lost and 2 that I mostly used the majority of the round and those balls are pretty much done. I could probably contribute that to the conditions, won't write them off just yet but I also don't think they'll get into main rotation as my testing experience shows these are a bit slower for me vs other brands.

When I have played BridgeStone balls in the past it has been the RX because my SS is below 100mph

Always thought they were a good ball but not great.  I was reading on here about how SS does not really matter, so I went and bought some XS balls and plan to put them in play this weekend.

I normally like a ball with a mid-80 compression so I am eager to see how they work out.  I will say in my experience with the RX, the BridgeStone balls are fantastic in the wind and I did receive good distance from them.  Curious to see how the XS plays out.

Will report back when I get a chance to test them out.

Played a round yesterday with the XS and was very pleased

Ball flew great, went far and landed soft

These will definitely give the Triad I am playing right now a run for my gamer.

However, I did realize that I bought the 22 version and not the 24 version of the ball

But I will give the 24 version a go when I run out of the 22 version.

Most likely the mindset because I am sucker for crap like that

I’ve gotten to play the BX with mindset, and it is honestly pretty cool. I think focusing on that green dot has really helped me to watch the ball through impact…

Received a dozen Tour B RXS 'Mindset' golf balls from Bridgestone as part of a test and review promo. Really like the ball, not so sure about the mindset idea, I usually align the arrow on the ProV1 for putts and tee shots, maybe it's doing the same thing.

That's true..I did not use the "Mindset" feature on putts. I aligned with the "TOUR BX" lines because I find that to be more accurate and to line up better with the alignment aid on my putter.

Yes I find it too busy.  Prefer just a line.  I think the Mindset is a bit distracting.  But thats just me...

Looks like GG / Dicks has the 3 doz for 119 up finally.  Wish they sold sleeves so I could grab a sleeve if BX’s to try.

How does the new BX compare to the old BX in terms of flight and spin with long irons?

Ended up buying the 3 dozen BXS’s and a box of BX’s to try.  If I like the BX’s I’ll just exchange the triple pack.   Only tried the BX once and it had way way too much iron spin.  The BXS would hit and one hop from 6 iron up and maybe pull back a few feet from 7 iron down.  The BX I sucked a pitching wedge back 20 feet off the front of a green…. Guess we’ll find out this weekend or next week

For me, the performance is very similar but the new model feels a touch softer.

Spent the past week playing a Titleist ProV1, Chrome Tour and the Tour B X.  The Tour B X won.   Longer off the T than the others (chrome tour was very close), great in the wind, not clicky off the putter and green side spin was excellent.   The only negative I could find is they scuff rather quickly.  Pretty sure this will be my ball for the 2024 season.

First round in with the BX and was pleasantly surprised with the performance! Long off the tee, good in the wind(the reason i bought the balls), easy to hit not firm feeling, greenside was fair not like im zipping them back but they also were not rolling out on me either. I think this may be the gamer for the year!

I have just ordered a dozen of the Tour B-X balls to compare to the TP5x which has really impressed me this year. The Bridgestone is a complete unknown to me as I have only ever tried the Tour B-RXS back in the day.

Today was a good day, ball testing!

Bridgestone Tour B-X v’s Taylormade TP5x (pix).

Early days but the Tour B-X did well enough to go in the bag for tomorrow’s round.

My thoughts against the TP5x, definitely more control around the greens and certainly doesn’t seem to be lacking any distance.

Further testing required!
