Carls golfland is selling raw SM9’s for $150, just picked up a set today.

Was that in-store? I'm seeing them still at full price on the website

The only complaint I’ve had with Vokey wedges over the years is a decent stock shaft (I change them anyways) like some other companies. It would be nice to maybe see the tour issue s400 or even KBS shafts as the stock shaft. I toyed with Mizuno wedges for a bit and having the S400 as the stock shaft was a nice feature. Besides this point I really don’t see what they can change with their wedges and I’m happy they never added a gimmicky face like other brands.

Weight sorting and a different sticker is considered a selling point now? Ultimately the DG is too heavy for most golfers as it is, selecting one at the high end of the weight spectrum (S400) is not something that the vast majority are looking for.

Raw heads have never been on sale at any of the big box stores. Vokey,GG,DSG have been at 149 per since 1st week of December.

Thast why im livid right now. I shoulda bought it. It was $149 and +$30 raw option. I know it was $179 for sure because thats what it said when i added it to my cart. I couldnt believe it myself.

And if you want further proof i can forward you the email i sent to them last week. The 60T-grind option was not listed so i sent them an email inquiring. They replied to my email informing me they added the 60T option after the new year, and it was still $149 + $30 for raw. It was gone today.

I didn’t say any of the above were selling points just sharing my opinion. Like I stated TI S400 has been the stock shaft in other wedges or even the DG Spinner over the years. Using the TI S400 isn’t fetched or unrealistic.

You complained about the stock DG wedge shaft which for Vokey is the S200 and then suggest that the S400 TI is somehow a better offering so I guess I’m confused. Why do you perceive the S400 TI to be better?

I think because the TI s400 is such an expensive uncharge I think its referenced as to be offered no uncharge on other wedge manufacturers and still a 25 up charge with Vokey. KBS hi rev would be a great choice for most and still an uncharge with Vokey VS other manufacturers as well.

I’m saying the stock offering isn’t really preferred by the masses as you say. It’s crazy to pay $180 for a wedge and having to pay the upcharge for TI S400 or any other decent shaft. Offering a decent shaft off the shelf seems more reasonable

S200 works fine for me, where do you get the data that the masses dislike the S200?

They're also literally the same shaft at a weight difference that won't matter for 99% of golfers

Someone who ate spam all his life, would never imagine what a wagu steak will taste like.

McDonalds yearly sales are over $25Billion, still doesn't make it great food.

I’m kinda confused.

I meant that all “quality” being equal , Vokey has the advantage of a multitude of fitting options that other major OEMs don’t.

I agree that my dog doesn’t know what a wagyu steak taste like.  But he does like to have his pick of treats at night.

All of the wedges are some form of casted material (wether or not that makes a difference in wedges is arguable); my point was that grind option are what separates Vokey from the rest.

Not quality

Can you order the SM10 with a Project X Wedge shaft?

Would be interested to see if any of the wedge manufacturers offer this as an option.  I haven't seen it as an option anywhere outside of buying it separately to reshaft.

The S200 is the same shaft as the S400, just one that weight sorts on the other side (slightly lighter vs slightly heavier with S300 in the middle). There is no quality difference between them, so you’re just buying into marketing if you think there is.

I’m well aware of the differences and  have never bought equipment based on marketing. As I said in my first post, I personally do not like the S200 because of the lighter weight and it feels soft to me. I also said I end up changing shafts in every set of Vokeys I purchase due to these reasons. My point was simply why not offer a similar stock shaft to other manufacturers (TI S400)? I would say the majority of WRXers and I know the majority of guys I play with change shafts as soon as they pick up new wedges.

You do realize that the stock S200 and the S400 TI are the same shaft, right?

Nope not correct weight and step patterns completly different. By design maybe S200 will play softer then s400 both feel good. The spinner shaft is basically a tiger stepped 8 iron shaft. KBS uses 9 irons shafts from 9- all wedges except their wedge specific shafts.

Incorrect. For .355 taper tip DG shafts like we are talking about here, the S/X flexes have the same step pattern and the R flex has a different step pattern (the TI shafts are the same, just a tighter post production weight sorting tolerance). The intent with the DG S200/S300/S400 has always been to hit a single spec coming off the line but due to weight variances, they introduced the Gold program (+/- 2g) to sort into 3 weight groups for players that wanted more consistent weight shaft to shaft (and ultimately have justification for less rejects by effectively creating a wider overall tolerance by marketing 3 distinct “subflexes”).

It literally states the x flex is 10 vs 12 for the stiff. Same amount of steps different starting point. a s200 is a lighter sorted s300 and an s400 is a heavier sorted s300. The shafts play different not the same. I've used both and an s400 produces a flatter ball flight on partial and full shots. Im not good enough to desern the 4 grams weight difference but can tell a difference between ball flights. And I usually just get S400 non tour issue as thats a no upcharge option.

I think you are referring to the tip lengths, not the steps which anre the same for both flexes. Ultimately, all DG S200/S300/S400 are the same shaft whether you want to believe it or not.

Either way, we have taken this pretty far off topic, so let’s get back to talking about the new SM10s.
