Perhaps a stupid question, but is that the regular Tour Chrome finish Horschel has? I thought they looked more satin/brushed than the SM9 Tour Chrome, but it might just be the picture.

Don't know for certain but I'm guessing his is a Raw finish that hasn't rusted yet.

Apart from one set of X-Forged, I've played Titleist wedges ever since BeCu Triple Grinds.

But if there is no hydrophobic tech in the faces of these, I'll be moving to Ping.

I just want a V-Grind. I missed out on this years WW release. M Grind has not enough bounce on the leading edge and D grind in the lobwedges is a tad too wide

I mean they’re wedges, what were you expecting them to do better?

I would like to see some sort of innovation. Testing from multiple reviewers always have the Vokeys mid or back of the pack when it comes to performance in wet conditions, when we know that Ping and some others have been finishing the faces with some cool stuff to help. The same wedge the last 3 generations with just new grinds is having a lot of people look elsewhere.

When it comes to wedges vokeys haven’t ever been super innovating to start but a wedges that’s been consistent. The friction face and spin tread on ping and TM, how long does that really last. I liked the mg3 so no hate here as I could go back and play those or mg4 but the microgrooves on the faces didn’t last so long from a visual standpoint. IMO vokeys biggest selling point is consistency and grind options. I bought extra sm9s because I didn’t expect any changes but I also didn’t play vokey wedges until the 9s.

When do we think they become available to the public? I may want to get a 58° wedge to compare against my SM9 60°.

Funny, I've been a spin milled player basically since the OG Red Saw and just last year I switched to the MG4. I love them, but you're absolutely right. The microgrooves are basically gone after about a month of use and I got ROASTED for mentioning it in the MG4 thread. They absolutely chew thru balls too. I'm still happy with the switch as they do perform better in wet conditions for me. And I live in Central NY where it's always wet so that's very important to me.

I like golf. A lot.

That’s just not what Vokey does, their hallmark has been consistency and grind offerings.

People complain about them being the same every year, yet they fly off the shelves and continue to be the most used wedge even by non-Titleist staffers…because people know exactly what they’re getting. If it ain’t broke…

Trying to resist ordering the new SM10 heads.  I just got fit last March into new SM9's after many years layoff from golfing due to work and family.   Not sure if there will be enough change to justify switching, but it's tempting!! Following along for more as information comes out!

Or you’re overthinking things, completely

Fair point, but I really did have both at some point and wasn't really happy with either one. Probably most of that problem is between my ears rather than on the club, but it is what it is. In the end, I will probably get fit for wedges outdoors next spring when our Titleist Fitting Center is offering it again.

Stick with the 9s. No need to “upgrade” unless your wedges are wore out

Never in my 23 years of playing have I ever hit a pitch or chip and been like man the wet grass really hurt me on that shot.

On one hand, I get it and feel (somewhat) the same. But in principle, why wouldn't you want spin rates on a wet shot to be as close to identical compared to a dry shot? Sure, it doesn't seem like a huge deal to overlook (MGS piece shows a 50 yard wet vs dry shot drop about ~500rpms in spin in SM9), but when I'm choosing equipment, I want to try and remove as many variables as I can.
