2024 LPGA Season Odds and Ends

Some comments from everyone's favourite, L.KO.  Doesn't really say a lot; not going to play forever, but hasn't really set a time to call it quits either, and leaves the door open to playing past 30.

I've personally felt that she's not just on the back 9, but more like the 16th, 17th, or 18th tee.  But I could be wrong...

The 2015 Rookies will dominate the tour until most of them call it quit.

The current Rolex Ranking top twenties have 5 from 2015 and 4 from 2022 class.

The current Honda LPGA Tournament has 5 from 2015 and 8 from 2022 class. The 2015 class is leading the field by 3 shots at the half way mark.

You forgot to add Shibuno for 2022.

Even though she won beforehand, this is prior the new 'Rose Zhang' rule.

Thanks for this @iBanesto. It is absolutely fascinating. We all know about the control the pros have over distance/trajectory, it was great to get a glimpse of one of the working sessions behind that control.

I have, in the past tried club drills (i.e., hit a 6i, 7i, and 8i 160 or something), but that initial drill in this video - hit the same wedge, the same 60 yard distance, but  hit one as high as possible, and one as low as possible ... I mean dang, I've never tried that (but certainly will in my next range session). Won't go on and on, but there were about three or four enlightening components here. I almost feel like I got a (very expensive) lesson from a (very good) coach. I'll be watching this video a couple more times.

And, parenthetically, wow does that girl have a beautifully fluid swing. This lesson has a lot of conversation that micro-focused on individual elements of the swing ("I think I might have too much wrist set on certain shots" & etc.), but when you step back and just look at her whole swing, it just seems somehow so natural and almost effortless.

Wasn't aware that Yuka Saso is being coached by Cameron McCormick ... is this a new arrangement, or has already existed for awhile?

So Yeon Ryu was also with Cameron (not sure if her best golf results = before or after McCormick?)

i think this is new... yuka's been changing a lot of stuff lately (residence - dallas house is less than 2 yrs ago, sponsor additions, coaches etc)...

SYR went to McCormick before she won the ANA and got to #1.  By all accounts, the changes were good; she added about 10 yards and could move the ball in both directions a bit more.

I believe her swing was more around her body / flatter.  If I had to guess, there was more arc in the path around the ball.  I.e. it required more timing, which is great when you practice a lot, terrible when you don't.

I like the way McCormick teaches and explains concepts. Easy to understand.

This video is a bit older as I'm sure I've seen it before on another channel.

Bronte Law outlasted fellow underachievers Maria Fassi and Pauline RB in LET action. Another UCLA win this weekend.

Pravani Urs (5th place) is a talented rookie from India who was on the Asian Games team and one to watch this year.

Some serious back spin action going on there? Not sure if Brontë Law will come good or not really, she's obvious planning a solheim return this year!  Excellent play this time however.🚀

Notice how Rory is standing closest to the camera so that he appears taller than Rose?

@MagicClassic407 maybe that's why no Nelly?

Doubt Rose Zhang was first-choice pick for this edition of The Match

i.e. Nelly would've been hand-down preferred (but guessing Nelly said No?).

What did you think of Christina Kim on commentary duty? I think she did a decent job & provided some good banter with the players / helped to avoid "dead air"

(but folks on twitter were not so complimentary)

I haven't watched The Match so if Christina was commenting I can't give feedback on that.

Other times I've listened to her though, I've quite liked her work.
