Left Dash ProV1X

ProV1X player that just started dabbling in the Left Dash. I do find it longer off the tee and about half a club longer off the irons. It doesn't spin as much as the regular X around the greens, but it's not a range ball. I used to play the TM Tour Response and I could spin that one OK, so the Left Dash is perfectly fine for me.

I have played the LD for about 2 years and have not been tempted to change.  Driver speed about 90 and have no issues with greenside playability.  I have not experienced the lack of spin around the greens that some players have reported, very predictable.  Also, I use an Odyssey white hot putter which does mitigate some of the clickyness of non insert putters.  Great distance and durability.  Love the ball and have gotten a few converts.

As far as greenside playability I think it's more so preference for what the ball is going to do.

I can absolutely play the LD and account for more roll out.... but I prefer the ball to one hop and stop on a dime regardless of the green conditions.

Gotcha, I have a fade to my shot so its helped me a lot keeping fades just fades and nothing more. Ive always been interested in trying out different balls because I could use something that could dance on the green a bit more with my wedges. Im just afraid to get away from LS balls (Like left dash) in general because of how much they help reduce the damage on mishits off the tee.

Like I said, spin is the result of how your clubhead impacts the ball, enhancing the ball's design characteristics.   Most people don't spin firm, x-firm balls enough because they don't hit them hard enough.

Dash -ProV1x has the same behavior around greens as ProV1x.  Though it's a lower spin ball off the tee, not sure if it's drastically lower than its brother, ProV1x to help your fade remain a controlled fade.  But if you feel LS balls work for you, far be if from me to say otherwise.  Numerous people would say, a 70+ year old wouldn't have the SS to play DASH, yet I do.  🙂

So whats the purpose of low spin balls if they dont decrease sidespin/fades?

People need different things for their games.  If you're someone that naturally produces a lot of spin, switching to a low spin ball should help you hit the ball further by giving you a better trajectory.

IDK, I disagree with this take.  Maybe, this is what you've seen.  But, in my experience It does not have the same behavior around the greens as ProV1X.  It has less spin and a firmer feel.  I think you could phrase it like, "It does have similar spin", but it's def not the same.  I've tested this a bunch.

It's NOT what I've seen, it's what I have experienced playing DASH almost exclusively for 2+ yrs; one does NOT equal the other.  The only other balls that were played were AVX and ProV1x for comparison and in bad weather.  Low spin off driver is #1, spin around the greens is a close #2 for me.  Unlike many on Golfwrx, few play the same ball all the time.

You think whatever... just don't tell me what I've experienced is wrong!

I finally got to try a dozen, only one round so far, and I really really like them. Coming from Vice Pro Plus. Dont be too afraid of the “firm feel no spin”…i thought it was firm but not too far off the pro plus. I don't really care for mushy balls. Spin wise, yes its less than others but still plenty unless you are just playing really fast and firm greens. Man they are long, had several drives well past anything ive hit in a while.

I got my dozen in. Spent several hours yesterday comparing it to the ProV1 and the Pro V1x....

Maybe it was just a weird day, but I picked up around 10-15 yards off the tee compared to the Pro V1. Trajectory was just a tad higher as stated previously, but surprisingly it gets some good roll after landing. Maybe not the best ball for a short, tight course.

With the irons, it was about a half club longer than the Pro V1. Close to a full club longer for me than the Pro V1x. When hitting it out of the center of the face, I couldn't tell a difference in feel between the Left Dash and the Pro V1x as far as feel.

Around the greens, it rolled out about 3-4 foot further on average than the Pro V1x. That's the biggest part that will take some adjustment for me personally, but I feel confident switching after just one round.

Putting....the ball rolls great, and I don't feel like I have to stroke the ball quite as firm on longer putts, probably because of the hardness. It's rolls similar to the X with a little higher-pitched sound and firmer feel on the putter face.

All in all, it's a great ball. I'm already ordering a few more dozen. Just wanted to say thanks to the forum for having good info and helping me find the exact ball I was needing. I would have never known about it otherwise.

Got ya @Avidswampthing66  You didn't offend me, I just responded as I would if you were standing in front of me.

What's said on social media in no way disturbs me.  Let's just say, during my youth, I was trained to maintain self-control under serious duress.  It seems bias reads emotions or ego into my response; when neither is the case, but people on here wouldn't know that as they don't know me in real life; like so much on social media, people just have a superficial perception.  My staff often disagree with me.

I never meant to imply the balls are "exactly" the same.  The only way to determine exactly would be hitting both balls on a LM.  I don't measure on LM, I measure them by how they react on the 11 stimp greens I play; DASH spins for me the same as ProV1x, difference is DASH spins back 2-4 ft, while ProV1x spins back more like 3-6 ft.

Does anyone know of any tour players using the AVX?  I am assuming that majority of tour pros swing speed is just too high to play that ball

As far as I've been able to tell, no one on PGA, LPGA, Champions, DP, etc played the AVX.  I think that's why Titleist stopped advertising it alongside the Pro V line.  As for why, if I have my Titleist history correct, the left dot was available to tour players before the AVX was introduced (I suspect the two balls came out of the same R&D experiment) and since the left dot had more greenside spin than the original AVX, but similarly flat trajectory, there's really no reason that a tour player would have put the AVX in the bag.

Worst part is I can't get outside and test yet cause Canada. I'll be back in the simulator this week. I want to test the Chrome Tour as well but I don't like the Triple Track so their 4-for-3 is out right now.

Guess it will be a hard hitting head to head to see which ball I stock up on first.

I know the chrome tour is getting a lot of love but I didn’t like it. I thought I would because I really liked the previous LS ball. It just didn’t wow me and the durability was terrible. I’ve used the new tp5x for the last several rounds and I’m really liking it. Plays a lot like the dash for me but it feels a little softer and maybe a hair more green side spin. I’ve probably customized the tp5x like 5 or 6 times now on Taylormade’s website but just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

What have you noticed with height is the TP5X the same or lower than Left Dash?

Also just curious on if any time in the wind?

Played with a guy last weekend who had the new Chrome Tour X in his bag, and this was his complaint. He chewed up several balls with normal wedge shots. I played the same Left Dash all 18 holes and if not for the Sharpie marks wearing off from the wet course, it could pass as unhit.

The first time I used the chrome tour on the very first hole, first wedge shot chewed up the cover. Haven’t had any issues with the dash or tp5x.

I picked up a few dozen left dash with pro shop credit this year, haven't really put them in play, but plan too this weekend.   I played some of the first gen CS LS, liked how they played but they seemed really firm.  When I have hit the left dash, they felt much better off the club to me.   My normal ball is the Srixon Z Star XV, the left dash actually feels similar off the club for me.  But I can really spin the short irons with the XV at times, but not so much around the greens. The left dash might just be a longer ball with similar green side performance for me compared to the XV.

You're in the minority then.  I have the left dash and CTX in my rotation of balls and left dash only lasts a round for me.  The majority of members here have said the same as well as the few guys I play with that play left dash.  While CTX isn't the most durable ball, I find that I can get 2 rounds out of them before they get thrown in the shag bag or I sacrifice it to the golf gods.

Callaway just hasn't figured out the durability thing. I tried the new balls as our pro is a Callaway staffer and he had samples. I took sleeves of X and Tour out one round a few weeks back. Same as previous versions. The first wedge shot with an old Vokey SM8 and the cover is chewed. Both versions show shaved areas after just about any wedges. The first par 3 at our course I switched versions and hit a 9 iron. I got up there and was cleaning the ball and it was damaged. I loved the performance of the balls but just can't live with the shoddy covers.

Love the left dash (my current ball) but agree here on the durability. I never get more than a single round out of one without it looking worn, even if I haven’t been in the sand. Not a deal breaker by any means but definitely a mark in the con column.

My box of TP5x came in the mail and I just got 9 holes in with it. I need to play more for a true test but so far it seems very similar to the left dash (in a good way).

- At least as long as the left dash. Maybe longer but can’t tell yet. I did airmail a green with 5wd but had a tailwind so not sure what to think about that one.

- Had a couple drives that felt like they went a touch higher than the LD but they were both into the wind so kind of inconclusive there too.

- Spin around the green feels the same so far. Not checking up or rolling out any different than the dash.

Obviously need to play a few more rounds with this ball but it’s already clear it’s a winner. Any differences with the left dash seem to be pretty minor to me. I’ll keep plugging away with it to see if it’s worth switching.

If someone is destroying the cover of 102 compression DASH -ProV1x, I'd look into how you're impacting the ball; it's surely NOT square strikes.

My index is 4, and still hit the ball pretty hard, 34° 7 iron is 85+/- SS, relatively square and straight down range, and spin back on 11+ greens is 2-4'.  Each ball lasts me multiple rounds.
