He actually got into it and threw down some fist pump action. Now that he's not trying to stay even keeled while his putter betrays him maybe he'll let go a bit more while he gets it done.

I’m setting the O/U at 4.5 wins and 1.5 majors for Scottie this season if he putts average. He leads strokes gained tee to green by a shot, is 2nd in approach, and 7th in driving. By far the best ball striker over the last 2 years.

I think you're lying, like other Austinites, trying to stop people from moving there. Like the other Austinite that I know who is always complaining about the roving gangs of organ harvesters and the inside-out green mist that periodically blankets the city. I don't buy it 😂

I don't know if it was mentioned already here but Scottie had an unadjusted scoring average of 68.26 last season. That's the second lowest ever and only Tiger in 2000 beats it - 68.17. His current average this season is an utterly baffling 67.48 but it won't be official until the end of the season.

 

And I'm pretty sure Ludvig Aberg's 68.32 (also last season) is the 3rd lowest beating by the smallest of margins Byron's 68.33.

 

But obviously scoring averages aren't perfect which is why they use strokes gained instead now. By that measure Scottie is about the level of Tiger in 2004. But that's not a fair comparison to him either because it doesn't take into account the stronger fields of today.

 

Looking forward to some Scottie dominance, he deserves it with what has been unprecedented ballstriking. I mean last season he was first in SG Total, off the tee, and approach shots. That's ridiculous.

Super impressive but unsustainable. Sentry, Amex, and Phoenix always skew the scoring averages at the start of the year.

Makes me realize Scottie's other disadvantage is his easy power. Like Els, he just makes the distance happen with little effort in comparison to Tiger or Rory turning on the juice. Easy to see from that vid why people got excited from the swing alone before they even saw the result. Not the same energy at all. 

 

Just had me musing a bit more on why people tune out when Scheffler's filming an episode of Murder, She Wrote out there but stayed glued when Tiger went to town.
