Not sure if you've watched Full Swing S2, but Rory makes a comment at one point about wanting to do a total game rebuild, and his team seem very against it (possibly fearing for their payday). More and more I wonder if that's what he needs to get his head right as it it seems like a confidence issue more than anything right now.

Haven’t watched yet but that certainly is interesting. It’s easy to root for Rory but his antics in the RC particularly that video of him screaming like a child in the parking lot is tough for me to shake. I think there certainly are more likable dudes on tour but very few with the same talent.

 

Im curious what a rebuild would look like for a guy who might have as much natural talent as anyone who ever played golf? I suppose a “dial it back” Rory might be an option since it’s been talked about here on GOLFWRX so much that his power off the tee might be the thing that kills him from 150 yards in, which he almost always is if he isn’t driving the green 😂.

 

I dunno; it’s super interesting for us golf nerds on here. How does one of the best players in the world rebuild a swing and how in the hell would he accomplish that? I know Tiger had a few different swings and rebuilds over the years but is something like that achievable for Rory?

Watching the RC stuff back on Netflix, I think Rory had a point with Joe LaCava's nonsense on the 18th, but the parking lot incident was pretty cringe, and not sure why he was getting into it with Bones.

 

It seems like one of Rory's problems is that he just really loves golf, is a perfectionist, and then can't handle it when people don't live up to whatever his standard of the game. It comes across as arrogant when he applies it to others, and seems to be pretty destructive when applied to his own game. I also can't imagine the impact of going to being mega famous and the "face" of the sport at such a young age.

 

While I love Tiger as a golfer, the man also clearly has some dark demons, and he similarly was catapulted to fame at a very young age. I don't think many "child stars" end up well rounded.

 

On the game rebuild - it's interesting he's gone to Faxon now for his putting. I wonder a bit if going back to more of a "love of the game" approach would serve him well. His short game is always at its best when he's having fun around the greens, but right now it looks like his golf is paining him.

I guess Wyndham’s “tapping” control is not what he thinks it is. Yesterday he tapped down the grass moving his ball on 18, today thinks he missed a putt and it winds up going in.

Watching on CTV2 17 which I think is out of Canada.  It's a shame that I can't pick up the Seattle NBC station today since it's less than half the distance away vs Canada.  Thanks BC Canadian broadcasters!

a lot of it too was him saying he doesn’t practice as much anymore to be that guy, to many other responsibilities 

 

he said he felt like he could be in top 10 but not a winner

 

seems like he really would have to focus on golf instead of a swing rebuild

To sustain top golf you need to be a machine (like tiger of the golden days)

Don't know what "rebuild" would entail, but going by the data Rory needs to to figure out something to get better with irons and wedges. The advantage Scottie has over is what Tiger had, amazing irons and wedges.
