RBC Heritage 2024 (*** NO LIV DISCUSSIONS ***)

For any tournament to follow on from any major must be a tough task, to follow on from The Masters really should be nigh on impossible however Hilton Head has for more years than I am sure anyone could care to remember managed to carry out the role with aplomb. The combination of costal Southern Carolina, laidback vibes and guys peaking perhaps a week later than they would wish for tends to make for compelling viewing. As was the case last year, the Heritage remains on the the elevated/signature event pedestal meaning that the field remains stout and a high class winner should be on the agenda. Scottie Scheffler heads in on a heater - the past few weeks have resulted in every superlative being used to describe his game becoming exhausted and again the rest will head in thinking that if they can beat Scottie they are in for a heck of a chance in taking home the title. As I type this, the only thing which would seem to be capable to taking Scottie out of this would be the early arrival of his little one but others in the field are also showing good form. Wyndham Clark has figured well in the last few signature events and should be well rested after his weekend off at Augusta. Another who had some time off over the weekend was Jordan Spieth. He has clearly not set the world on fire so far in 2024 however heads in to this week looking to continue on his good history around Harbour Town where he has posted one playoff win and one playoff loss in the last two staging's.

As he knew himself, he wasn’t long enough to win the ultimate events.

Listening to Fitzpatrick in an interview he said there will be alot less pressure on Thursday an Friday now that there is no cut. I hope in the future they go back to larger fields with cuts in these signature events.

Well 67th is more notable than the other 80-odd players who were there and a lot of folk who moan about others’ performance and who have achieved nothing at golf.

Probably will, but they're testing the waters in 2024.

 

This event was like a major championship for him and his family. He got it done last year.

I see Webb gets yet another "sponsor's invite"..🙄

 

And these AON next 10 and swing 5 are not making a lot of sense.  Toasty is in on that basis (swing 5) and I can't even find the list or ranking for that. Also, the ONLY thing he has done is had a T2 2 weeks ago. While that's certainly a good result, his remaining results are a slew of MCs and a couple of small paydays.

 

I'd be curious to see who the next guys in would be (if any).

Would be nice. Wasn't an option with the current trial. Part of the guaranteed money was also guaranteeing big names would be on the air for the weekend to draw eyes in order to satisfy sponsors then being asked to pony up more dollars. Maybe it will change with the new investment design.

The Masters, followed by Hilton Head, are my two favorite consecutive weeks of the Tour schedule. The Heritage is the first Tournament I ever attended, and we vacation at Sea Pines.

I always find this one interesting as it's not a long bombers track, it allows the guys who don't get it out there quite as far to still have a decent chance based on how tight a couple of the holes are.

 

Makes for some interesting viewing.
