Since the obvious have been stated, I'll throw in the TM Bubble Shaft. Yeah, it's not a "club" but the shaft does attach the "club"head! :D

Wilson Fat Shafts

Tommy Armour E.Q.L.

3JACK

Couldn't disagree more. We're talking about "flops" here which to me means items that didn't sell.

Taylormade's Bubble line sold like crazy back in the day. Also, the Fat Shaft line put Wilson back on the map in terms of golf equipment and also sold pretty well back in their day. In fact, I know plenty of people who played both.

As for chippers, they're not for everyone but the concept isn't a flop. I hear they are excellent sellers.

I can think of at least 25 members at my club STILL playing the Wilson Fat Shaft.

For Me, I'll call the Scotty Cameron "Kombi" as being the next flop

I would have to say the Cameron Detour.

Agree. This was my first thought. I know people bought them, and it was the whole new concept thing trying to happen...but I just didn't see it.

Callaway C4 Driver.

You guys are probably going to jump all over me on this one but, I kind of liked that driver. My buddy had one back in the day and I'd always want to give it a whirl. I seemed to hit it alright, but if I remember the sound was pretty bad. I sort of liked that carbon fiber crown look though. I don't know, must just be me. I just can't believe that many people have said it was their first thought.

Driver: Ping G30
3-Wood: Ping G30
Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro
Irons: Mizuno JPX921 Hot Metal Pro

Wilson Whale driver

Those infomercial wedges with changeable faces that could back a ball up on a parking lot (I've been known to back a driver up if I make proper contact with a tree)

Titanic titanium irons (Tommy Armour?)

Pod driver

Ping 2-color golf balls

Oh.. you are good forgot all about these ones..

What's the criteria? On the one hand just about every Nike golf club is flop considering the Tiger contract, massive R&D, and massive marketing. The sales are meager. On the other hand, the C4 by reputation alone was a colossal flop.

TaylorMade InnerGel golf balls and every other golf ball they sold prior to 2007, big-big flops. Add Callaway TT line of putters - they can't sell Odyssey, and high-end milled putters at the same time. Every Mizuno driver since the Pro S --- at least in the U.S. market - FLOOOOPPPP!

I'm sure there are many more.

Well those are good but 2 that came to mind very quickly were the TOMMY ARMOUR T100 titanium irons they were massive and also the ZEVO line. and most of NIKEs PUTTERS

Those Tommy Armour Ti Irons were absolutely hideous. How did a company that devised the the 845 then unleash the TI 100 on the world!!!!!!

The Ping two color balls were actually a huge hit, partly as a novelty, but also as a putting aid (think about it). It's also why you still see them on eBay going for seemingly unreasonable prices:

Never seen the below on an actual golf course or driving range or green....

Wilson Spine Driver

Nike Putters

Adams Dixx Blu

Wilson Fybrid

Srixon Putters

Cleveland VP putter line

Cleveland VAS

----------------------------------------------------------------

gotta disagree about the 907D1 being a flop. ALot of people on here bought one and gamed it, saw alot of those on the courses. Now it is not the best driver ever (by a long shot), but it had good sales.

+1 for Nike Putters with an emphasis on the Unitized putter line. The Unitized line had a lot of hype and I had thought it might be their best chance to succeed.

They really need to get themselves some traction in this equipment category...to be honest, I'm surprised they haven't hired a famed putter designer to head up this part of the division or just bought a putter company like Rife or Yes. They have the money...just need some focus on good, quality designs that appeal to both the traditionalist and new tech guys. They also need to start at a lower price point...you can't price like Cameron out of the gates...that type of reputation (and pricetag) takes time to develop.

The Callaway FTI they are like $70 on ebay with an original retail price of $500, ....

The FT-i has sold fairly well in my area. I've seen many of them on the courses in my area since they were intoduced. However the cheap prices they are bringing now are due to its replacement, the FT-iq, is already on the market.

I-mix has been a sales flop so far due to its "newness". The price seems quite high until you realize that the separate head and an entry priced shaft (which is basically also in the "off the shelf" epoxied model) totaled up the same as an epoxied model. More expensive I-mix shafts are about the same cost of ordering an installed upgraded shaft from the factory in the FT-5. When the FT-9 I-mix head hits the market I can still use my collection of I-mix shafts with it, reducing the cost of buying an epoxied FT-9. If Callaway plans on using I-mix as the future of their premium driver line-up, then investing in an I-mix driver now is a good idea IMHO.

I have to agree that the C4 was a flop, but I do know a few folks too would agree that they liked it -- killed tee shots with it. I believe Annika played the C4 for a few tournaments when it came out.

"The Chipper" no matter the OEM, if you make it, it is a flop.

31p7J4zL1mL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

I'm not joking when I say this, you have no idea how wrong you are, you'd never guess but chippers sell like crazy.

Sadly I know and without sounding prejudice or ignorant, look at the skill level directly related to the consumers who are purchasing them. You cannot call golfers who bag a chipper skillfull!

Learn to use a wedge even if it is a Texas Wedge (yo putta)!
