Sometimes ho'ing finds you. This was the case this time :) Should be pretty badWord not allowed, but not dismantling the GBB in case.. the irons and wedges are definitely getting changed.

 

Haha no idea if the conversation is even about the WITB at this point given this thread is 198 pages long hahaha, but that is a lot of crap, and it's all beautiful. Like you fine folks.

 

Mostly about babies, cigars, and clubs.

My builder (if you're reading this) doesn't work weekends apparently so I'm having them built up on Monday. :censored2: :fool:

 

Shafts in the woods will be Atmos Black 70TX and 80TX - possibly the GD TP's in the other woods. Irons - I'm either swapping out my X7's and everything from the Titleists in them or trying the Nippon C10's or LZ 7.0's. (Stage1350 if you're reading this.. might need your input)

If it's full bag, have to guess TM, with the 750's and new wedges, TP5.

 

Mizuno and Srixon staffers don't even play the woods, and the new MB from Callaway is not out, no on Titleist and PXG.

If you want something slightly milder and smoother than X7, the Nippon C10 might work. Can't help you on PX LZ. I've never gotten along with PX steel, so I haven't tried the LZ yet.

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison (since you're considering going from X7 to LZ 7.0), but I've been an X100 player for a few years before trying PX LZ 6.5 this year. To my eye, the LZ's launch just a shade higher but not at the expense of spinning more than X100. This is what I was hoping to see as one of my bad swing habits is not adequately covering the ball on the down-swing (hanging back slightly trying to throw the ball up in the air), especially when trying to hit a higher shot than normal. LZ has allowed me to cover the ball more aggressively on the down-swing while still seeing the higher flight that I like. You can also feel LZ load a bit more readily than X100 and PX but LZ still retains a nice stable feel through impact, which I also like. I've never gotten along with standard PX because the sensation of the shaft storing energy from the top wasn't there, which would cause me tempo/consistency problems.

 

Not quite ready to say that I'm a convert to PX LZ, but after having them in play a couple months I can't think of any complaints.

What is your driver SS? Some people I talk to say the 6.5's are soft coming from X100's, others say they're fine. I had the same exact reactions with the PX's I was fit to at TPI - numbers wise PX and X100's were the two best, but I didn't like the way the PX loaded for me so I went with the X1. I have that same type of miss too, with not covering the ball and left shoulder coming up producing a high spinny cut.

You can get the Tour Issue Callaway MB Blades so I am thinking that is where he is headed. Staying with the Callaway Driver and going Epic 3 metal makes this an easy guess.

They won't be built till Monday, but this is what's coming (thought I'd have em build tomorrow) :) Going to be trying the TW 445 and 460 heads, the small head 3 wood in 15 and the big headed 3 wood in 13, and the TW 737 N irons and wedges.

 

I know the irons are going to be really good, I've had a few good buddies get fit to them out here. I've heard great things about the 3 wood, so the driver is the big question mark but I have the GBB to benchmark them both against. They seem like they're going to be a more refined VR LTD, multi piece forged with glued hosel.

 

Been on my radar for a while, so I'm pretty pumped to give them a go. Let me know what you guys think.

Sweet. I recall hitting one of last year's Honma models... V or Vn, I think. Was definitely one of the contenders before I decided on the 716CB. Right up there with the best of em.

 

Can't wait to hear how you get along with the woods and driver.

Wow, this was unexpected!

 

Great choice as Honma has stepped up their game. Had their TW717 455 driver in the bag for a short time. Great performing driver if you can get used to the JDM forged face feel. Felt like a cannon, though. I know the irons are solid. Have my eyes on their hybrid.

I wonder if the triangular weight is the same as the one offered in the older JDM Legacy Black drivers. Come to think of it, the Authentic 440 head was similar in feel to the TW717. Hmmm ...

I've kept going back and to the Modus 120tx with sensicore inserts. Tried the X100 but spin too much for me. Px 6.5 and 7 were good on numbers and dispersion but never liked the feel. I've hit a c10 prototype but felt seemed similar to what I already had, haven't tried the lz yet.
