Best irons ever made?

What do you think? I've played over a dozen irons and I think the Wilson Staff 45 are the best irons EVER. Of course this is just opinion, but I was interested in others' opinions on this.

The best irons - v subjective, my favourites are the Blank Mizuno TN-87's Faldo used in the 90 Open & Masters wins.

The best irons ever made, IMO, based on the durability, looks, market coverage, useabilty to both pro and amateur alike, set make -ups, custom options, value, re-sale value, performance, forgiveness and all round appreciation is, of course.....the Ping Eye 2 (choose your own variant).

I would love to add a certain blade to the mix but Jaskanski has killed this one. The Ping Eye 2's were a game changer.

Hard to find an angle to argue against the PE2, it is.

The Titleist AP2s have to be up there as far as iron sets sold. It seems they are everywhere. I thought they were one of the best combonations of a players iron with forgiveness, and people really drew to that.

Ping makes the ugliest irons i've ever seen. anything Titleist blows them away.

Well, I wont venture to say what were the "best" irons of all time, but I can give my favourites in multiple categories:

Blade: Titleist 681, had some great weight to them, nice low ballflight, and some of the softest feeling blades i've ever hit. FWIW these are my favourite irons of all time in any category.

Players cavity back: Titleist 990b's, great look, great feel, although you might as well have been playing a blade as far as forgiveness was concerned!

Mid level cavity back: I thought the Ping i3 blades (original) were a fantastic club.

Game improvement cavity back: gotta go with Ping eye 2's here, that iron was a true classic

Super game improvement: i have never bagged a set of these, but i did have a couple of long irons in the bag. Ping G2's started the SGI revolution, so ive got to give a nod to them.

Ping Eye 2's changed the game. If you got a set new today, they would still be a great set of irons. Not many clubs can make that claim.
